Abstract

This research is based on the low ability of students in Arabic writing skills because of the limited use of active and cooperative learning strategies. The purpose of this research is to describe the implementation of the Cooperative Learning strategy in developing students’ writing skills at Ma’had Aly Lirboyo and Modern Darul Hikmah Islamic Boarding School Tawangsari. The subjects of this research were first-year students (S1) at Ma’had Aly Lirboyo and seventh-grade students (ninth MA) at Modern Darul Hikmah Islamic Boarding School Tawangsari. The participants were twenty students selected through purposive sampling based on their Arabic writing ability. This research used a qualitative descriptive method. The research instruments were observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were collected through observing learning activities, interviewing teachers and students, and analyzing students’ writing documents. The data analysis process included data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the Cooperative Learning strategy was able to improve students’ writing skills through group discussions, peer correction, and collaborative writing. Students became more active in arranging sentences, developing ideas, and correcting grammar mistakes together. The research concluded that the Cooperative Learning strategy is effective in teaching Arabic and developing students’ writing skills in an active, organized, and cooperative way.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pelaksanaan pembelajaran Bahasa Arab di Ma`had al-Jami`ah IAIN Langsa meliputi  pelaksanaan, metode, model, kurikulum, serta sarana dan prasarana pendukung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan Model Miles, Huberman dan Saldana. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi dan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahawa pembelajaran Bahasa Arab telah dilaksanakan, namun belum berjalan secara rutin. Hal ini disebabkan oleh jadwal pelaksanaan yang sering berdekatan dengan libur semester serta kondisi cuaca seperti hujan yang menghambat kehadiran guru. Metode pembelajaran yang digunakan bersifat sederhana seperti ceramah, tanya jawab, hafalan  mufradat, dan model kontekstual. Model pembelajaran yang diterapkan belum mencakup empat keterampilan berbahasa. Kurikulum dan silabus yang belum tersedia menjadi salah satu kendala dalam pencapaian tujuan pembelajaran. Evaluasi pembelajaran belum dilaksanakan secara rutin dan sistematis. Sarana dan prasarana pembelajaran juga masih terbatas, termasuk ketiadaan buku ajar resmi sebagai acuan pembelajaran. Hasil angket menunjukkan bahwa respon mahasantri terhadap pembelajaran Bahasa Arab termasuk dalam kriteria cukup dengan presentase 58,13%. Berdasarkan hasil presentase tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran Bahasa Arab di Ma`had al-Jami`ah IAIN Langsa menunjukkan efektivitas yang masih belum optimal. Kata kunci  : Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab, Ma`had al-Jamiah   Abstract This study aims to analyze the implementation of Arabic language learning at Ma`had al-Jami`ah IAIN Langsa, including implementation, methods, models, curriculum, and supporting facilities and infrastructure. The research method used is a qualitative method with the Miles, Huberman and Saldana Model. The instruments in this study were interviews, observations, documentation and questionnaires. The results of the study indicate that Arabic language learning has been implemented, but has not been running routinely. This is due to the implementation schedule which is often close to semester holidays and weather conditions such as rain that hinder the presence of teachers. The learning methods used are simple such as lectures, questions and answers, memorization of vocabulary, and contextual models. The learning model applied does not yet cover the four language skills. The curriculum and syllabus that are not yet available are one of the obstacles in achieving learning objectives. Learning evaluation has not been carried out routinely and systematically. Learning facilities and infrastructure are also still limited, including the absence of official textbooks as learning references. The results of the questionnaire show that the response of students to Arabic language learning is included in the sufficient criteria with a percentage of 58.13%. Based on the results of the percentage, it can be concluded that Arabic language learning at Ma`had al-Jami`ah IAIN Langsa shows effectiveness that is still not optimal.
