Abstract

Character education is one of the aspects in education which is important for students before they face the real world society. Character education can be learned in the formal education with the support of environment such as school staffs, teachers, and also parents. Moreover, character education can also help students to deal with academic field. Character education is not directly taught in school as a subject but it includes in the subjects learn by students such as science, social science, language and many more. Even though character education has been taught at school, there is still something unwanted happens to students especially children. This thing can be prevented using the character education. This study focuses in describing the character education especially for children in Indonesia.

Abstract

Speaking is one of hard skill that should be mastered by students in English. In the speaking class, students faced several problems such as the learners show a low enthusiasm and motivation in speaking, afraid and shy to speak. It arises because of some factor such a low interest, material, and improper technique which apply in the class. In solving those problems, it needed an attractive teaching technique. The implementation of role-play as an appropriate teaching technique in the 21st century that can stimulate students in learning especially in speaking class can be one alternative. Role-play serve many advantages, one of them is to urge students in speaking. This study will use library research as the method for collecting the data. The findings show that role-play teaching technique strongly can improve students speaking skill in the classroom.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to examine the impact of school from home in teaching and learning English for young learners. This study employed a case study approach, which is an embedded single-case design. A set of questionnaires was distributed to twelve young learners in the fourth grade of an elementary school in Singaraja and one English teacher. The young learners in this study were selected with purposive sampling, where participants were selected based on their parents' and teachers’ consent. Furthermore, an interview was also conducted with one English teacher from an elementary school in Singaraja to obtain the supplementary data. The findings indicate that the impact of school from home in teaching and learning English had some positive and negative impacts. Therefore, this study ends with suggestions for teachers and parents during school from home.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate students’ perception toward the use of google classroom as a media for teaching language. This study is a library study. This study was focused on collecting information about the definition of Google Classroom, students’ perception toward the use of google classroom, and the performance of google classroom in language learning. Google classroom is one of the platforms that used to provide the material, task, information about the course to the students that given by the teacher by online. Google classroom help the students and also the teacher to make the learning process easier during the Covid-19 pandemic. Google Classroom gave students and teacher chance to keep doing the course during the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, this platform gets positive responses from many students. Most students were agreed that google classroom easy to be used and have good performance since it helps the students to save the file or the material that given by the teacher through google classroom easily, and also students can easily submit their work in this platform. By using Google Classroom, the teacher could do many things, such as assigned quiz to the students, gave the students video for additional source of the study, the teacher also could link many applications such as Quizizz, Google Form, Google Drive, and many more.

Abstract

This study is aimed to describe the English teachers’ acceptance of technology in remote English teaching. SMA Negeri 4 Singaraja is one of the senior high school that implementing remote English remote English teaching during the pandemic. Furthermore, in order to find out the English teachers’ acceptance in remote English teaching in SMA Negeri 4 Singaraja, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theory is used. The samples of this study were the 7 English of SMA Negeri 4 Singaraja. In order to collect the data, questionnaire was used. The data was collected from survey which was analyzed quantitatively. The result of this study showed that English teachers’ acceptance of technology in remote English teaching at SMA Negeri 4 Singaraja was neutral, which means they were either accepting remote English teaching or denying remote English teaching. However, their neutral acceptance was considered more to positive because several factors such as perceive ease of use and perceive of usefulness.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the students ‘perception and challenge in learning by using Google Classroom especially in the current pandemic of Covid-19. The present study used a literature review as the design to collect the data. Related studies about students ‘perception and challenge on Google Classroom in teaching and learning were analyzed to be described in the present study. The finding of this study showed that students have positive perception toward the use of Google Classroom in learning and it was useful in teaching. However, students ‘accessibility and connectivity were the most challenging in learning through Google Classroom during the pandemic.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims at at finding out 1) the challenges of the teachers in teaching speaking during online learning in SMAN 2 Abiansemal, 2) the teachers’ ways to cope with the challenges in teaching speaking during online learning in SMAN 2 Abiansemal and 3) the strengths and the weaknesses of the strategy used by the investigated teachers during online learning in teaching speaking. The subjecs of this research were three English teachers in SMAN 2 Abiansemal. To collect the data, two instruments were needed, observation sheet and interview guide. The obtained data were analyzed qualitative by using Interactively Data Analysis Model by Miles and Huberman (1994). This research discovers 1) 9 challenges in online learning, 2) 9 ways to cope the challenges, and 3) 9 weaknesses and strengths of the strategy.

Abstract

English becomes an international language to help people who have different mother tongue to communicate each other. Learning English is very important because it also helps to increase the quality of human resource. Each individual has right to learn English without exception. Students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder also can learn English. This study aimed is to describe the process implementation of Total Physical Response method in teaching English and the response from students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. This study uses descriptive qualitative as research design with observation and interview. The participants in this study are five students who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in one of special need schools in Bali.  The result of this study shows that implementing Total Physical Response method, students are easy to remember the new words in English and they also practice the word physically and verbally. Total Physical Response method makes students feeling comfortable and enjoy in teaching and learning process. They are also being motivated and active in the English class.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to discover high school students’ general perception about the implementation of Google Classroom as an online learning media, and the factors that influenced the development of the perception. This research used Mixed-method research design as described by Creswell (2014). Subject of this study was the student population of SMAS Lab Undiksha Singaraja. The instruments used for this research were Questionnaire and Interview Guide. The instruments were tested by using Gregory Formula Method and Cronbach-Alpha method. The data that have been obtained was analyzed using quantitative and qualitative method. The result of the research showed that the students of SMAS Lab Undiksha Singaraja held a positive view on the benefits of Google Classroom and its implementation as online learning media. Factors that have influenced this perception are Google Classroom’s ubiquity, students’ familiarity with Google Classroom, Google Classroom’s ease of use and stability in comparison to other similar applications.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the teachers' challenge in conducting online learning at SMA Candimas Pancasari The design of this research is descriptive qualitative. In this study, the challenges of teachers in online teaching were analyzed and described descriptively. The findings in this study are about the challenges of teachers in conducting online learning at SMA Candimas Pancasari and how to overcome the challenges. Internet connection is one of the main challenges in online teaching. Internet connection is influential in online learning because some teachers and students live in difficult signal areas. This poor internet connection makes online learning unable to be 100% effective. Teachers have ways of overcoming these challenges by way of offline (LURING) for some students who have problems and provide a schedule to come to school. Teachers can overcome these challenges with various strategies during online learning.
