Abstract

Eisenmenger Syndrome is congenital heart disease with pulmonary hypertension and shunting turning from right to left. The resistance of pulmonary vascular more than 7.5 mmHg/L/min. The right ventricle and pulmonary artery always enlarge. Physiological effects of inhaled nitric oxide therapy cause selective pulmonary vasodilation: Hypoxia alveoli causes reversible vasoconstriction, thereby increasing pulmonary wedge pressure. Inhaled nitric oxide can lower it. Moderate cardiac output and systematic arterial pressure are not affected; Selective in pulmonary because it is activated by hemoglobin; Selective vasodilation in the ventilated area, local hypoxia alveoli constricts the surrounding vascular tissue and redistributes blood flow to the ventilated lungs better and higher intraalveolar oxygen pressure. Inhaled nitric oxide enhances this mechanism by increasing blood flow through a well-ventilated lung; Bronchodilators; Pulmonary surfactant, The combination of high concentrations of inspired oxygen and high concentrations of Inhaled nitric oxide reduces the minimum surfactant surface tension.

Abstract

Gastrointestinal tract infections are still common in developing countries such as Indonesia. Gastritis as a gastric health problem has a risk factor for developing into a peptic ulcer or stomach cancer. This literature review aims to discuss the role of probiotics against the incidence of gastritis caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. This article based on a literature review of the role of lactic acid bacteria probiotics in the treatment of Helicobacter Pylori infection. It was found that the probiotic role of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium was non-pathogenic and they were often used as probiotic mediators for H. pylori eradication. Probiotics affect the gastrointestinal tract through immunologic and non-immunological responses. Utilization of probiotic intake as one of adjuvant therapy in the treatment of gastritis disease might help the effectiveness of antibiotic drugs. But, to be used as a single therapy still needs further research.

Abstract

Hepatocellular damage is one of the histopathologic features of malaria infection. The presence of large amounts of hemozoin pigment in the liver is associated with hepatocellular damage. Curcuma xanthorriza Roxb / curcumin as an anti-inflammatory and natural antioxidant which has a hepatoprotector function. The purpose of these study was to determine the effect of curcuma rhizome (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb) extract on hemozoin pigment in the liver tissue of BALB/C mice infected with Plasmodium berghei ANKA/ PbA. Method: using 25 groups of BALB/C mice, divided into 5 groups: negative control group; positive control group and 4 treatment groups infected with PbA with extract dose of 150 mg / KgBW, 100 mg / KgBW, and 50 mg / KgBW for four days. On the fifth day the observation of liver tissue to determine deposition of hemozoin pigments by histopathological examination. Results: Statistical analysis showed that descriptively there was a decrease in hemozoin pigment in the liver tissue of mice (150 mg / KgBW extract dose decreased the most hemozoin pigment compared to other doses), but there was no statistically significant difference between the treatment groups with positive controls (p> 0.05). Conclusions: The administration of curcuma extract (Curcuma xanthorriza Roxb) has the potential to reduce the deposition of hemozoin pigment in liver tissue in BALB/C mice infected with Plasmodium berghei ANKA although statistically it is not significant.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by conditions of hyperglycemia as a result of abnormalities in the secretion of the insulin hormone, the work of the insulin hormone, or both. Metabolic disorders caused by diabetes cause lipolysis to increase, thereby increasing the level of VLDL, which will be converted to LDL. LDL disorders are the effects of insulin resistance. Streptozotocin (STZ) can increase serum LDL cholesterol serum levels due to the mechanism of ROS formation. Golden sea cucumber act as anti-hyperlipidemic because they contain EPA-DHA, saponins, and flavonoids. The purpose of these studies to determine the effect of Golden sea cucumber act as anti-hyperlipidemic. Experimental laboratory research is done using the post-test only control group design method. Using simple random sampling with 25 white male Wistar rats divided into five groups, all rats were given standard feeding. Group 1 without STZ induced, group 2-5 were induced STZ first, and then group 3-5 were given golden sea cucumber extract for 21 days with dose 4,25 mg/kg BW, 8,5 mg/kg BW, 12,75 mg/kg BW, per day respectively. At the end of the study, the LDL serum level was measured. The result of One – Way Anova test showed LDL cholesterol serum levels of group rats with STZ induction and given 12,75 mg/kg BW golden sea cucumber extracts (x=7,4 mg/dl) significantly decreased (p=0,005) compared to LDL cholesterol levels of group rats which were only induced by STZ without given golden sea cucumber extracts (x=12,6 mg/dl). This research showed that the administration 12,75mg/kg BW of golden sea cucumber extracts for 21 days reduced serum LDL cholesterol levels because golden sea cucumber contains compounds that work as antioxidants.

Abstract

Introduction: Based on the Health Profile of East Java Province it was noted that the maternal mortality rate is still high, with the highest cause of maternal death being preeclampsia/eclampsia which is 28.92%, and hemorrhage by 26.28%. Mothers with anemia have a higher risk of postpartum hemorrhage. This is caused by the lack of oxygen and nutrients in the uterine organs, resulting in a decrease in myometrium muscle contraction that causes hemorrhage. Objective: To determine the relationship between anemia in pregnancy and postpartum hemorrhage in Jombang Regional Hospital 2016-2019. Method: Researchers use analytic research with a case-control approach. The study population of women who experienced hemorrhage at Jombang Regional Hospital in 2016-2019 (as a case group population). And women who did not experience hemorrhage at Jombang Regional Hospital in 2016-2019 (as a control group population). The sample of each study was 36 respondents for the case and control groups with a non-probability sampling technique consecutive sampling, and a matching process was carried out. Results: The significance value in the Mann Whitney test was 0.000 (p<0.05), which means that H0 was rejected, there was a significant relationship between anemia in pregnancy and postpartum hemorrhage in Jombang Regional Hospital. As well as the strength of the relationship between anemia and postpartum hemorrhage which was calculated using the Contingency Coefficient test. shows a figure of 0.582, which shows a positive correlation with sufficient strength correlation. Conclusion: Based on the results of research that has been done shows that there is a relationship between anemia in pregnancy with postpartum hemorrhage in Jombang Regional Hospital 2016-2019.
