Abstract

The rapid growth of the digital economy has reshaped business models, production systems, and consumption patterns globally. Although digital technologies enhance efficiency and innovation, they also generate environmental challenges such as rising energy consumption, electronic waste, and the ecological impact of digital infrastructure. These issues have increased academic and policy focus on environmental ethics in contemporary business practices. This study aims to review and synthesize the literature on environmental ethics in the digital economy, with a focus on corporate responsibility and sustainable innovation. A narrative literature review method is applied, in which relevant peer-reviewed articles published between 2010 and 2024 were retrieved from Scopus using targeted keyword combinations, screened for relevance through title, abstract, and full-text review, and thematically synthesized to identify recurring conceptual patterns. The findings reveal four interrelated themes, synthesized in a thematic matrix. First, environmental ethics in business supplies the normative foundation for corporate environmental decision-making. Second, corporate environmental responsibility has become a key element of ethical governance in digital business contexts. Third, sustainable innovation and green technologies play a significant role in mitigating environmental impacts of digital transformation. Fourth, the integration of digital transformation and environmental sustainability shows that digital infrastructure itself generates environmental costs, such as rising energy consumption and e-waste, that require deliberate governance. Across these four themes, environmental ethics is increasingly embedded in corporate strategies, governance frameworks, and sustainability-driven business models, and an emerging fifth cluster on digital and artificial-intelligence ethics in ESG governance is identified as a direction for future research. This review strengthens the conceptual understanding of the relationship between environmental ethics, digital transformation, and sustainable innovation. The results underline the importance of aligning technological advancement with environmental responsibility. The study also provides implications for business leaders, policymakers, and researchers in promoting ethical and sustainable practices within the evolving digital economy.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of Price on Purchase Decisions, mediated by Brand Image, among university students purchasing thrift fashion products in Kendari City. The novelty of this study lies in explaining the psychological mechanism through which Brand Image translates price perceptions into purchase decisions within the underexplored context of thrift fashion. Using a quantitative explanatory approach, data were collected from 200 respondents through purposive sampling and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS. The results show that Price positively and significantly affects Brand Image and Purchase Decisions, and that Brand Image, in turn, positively influences Purchase Decisions and significantly mediates the relationship between Price and Purchase Decisions. Theoretically, this study extends Signaling Theory and consumer behavior literature by demonstrating the mediating role of Brand Image in second-hand fashion consumption. In practice, the findings suggest that thrift businesses should adopt pricing strategies that reinforce their brand image to influence consumer purchase decisions and promote sustainable fashion consumption.

Abstract

The increasing demands on the hotel industry to implement sustainable practices create challenges for hotel managers in balancing environmental goals and business performance. This situation has given rise to the green hotel paradox, a situation where hotels must meet sustainability demands without neglecting business targets. This study aims to understand the dynamics of this managerial tension through the perspective of Paradox Theory by examining the influence of paradox mindset, environmental sustainability orientation, and business performance pressure on perceived tension, as well as their impact on green innovation strategy and sustainable performance. The study used a quantitative approach, surveying 102 hotel managers in various tourist cities in Indonesia. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that paradox mindset, environmental sustainability orientation, and perceived tension positively influence the relationships tested. Green innovation strategy has also been shown to improve sustainable performance. However, business performance pressure has no significant effect on perceived tension. This study extends the application of Paradox Theory to the context of green hotels and emphasizes the importance of developing a paradox mindset and green innovation strategy to support organizational sustainability.

Abstract

The construction industry is particularly susceptible to economic fluctuations, frequently resulting in restructuring and heightened stress for high-potential employees (HiPo). This study examines the influence of job insecurity and organizational justice on turnover intention, with organizational commitment serving as a mediating variable, focusing on HiPo employees at PT ZX, a state-owned construction company experiencing a crisis. Employing a quantitative approach with 234 respondents, data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The research draws upon Conservation of Resources (COR) Theory and Social Exchange Theory, testing seven hypotheses regarding both direct and indirect effects. Results indicate that job insecurity has a significant positive effect on turnover intention and a significant negative effect on organizational commitment, whereas organizational justice has no significant direct effect on turnover intention but strongly strengthens organizational commitment. Organizational commitment, in turn, significantly reduces turnover intention and significantly mediates the effects of both job insecurity and organizational justice on turnover intention. These findings contribute to the literature on talent retention and provide practical recommendations for human resource management during crises. The study integrates job insecurity and organizational justice as predictors within a mediation model tailored to the construction sector crisis. Practically, it proposes strategies for BUMN HRM to develop equitable and sustainable talent-retention policies. The evidence further supports SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), particularly Targets 8.5 and 8.8, by demonstrating the significance of organizational justice and commitment in sustaining decent work during restructuring in the construction sector.

Abstract

In this study, the researchers analyse whether work-life balance and work stress affect the intention of millennial workers in the Karawang Industrial Area to quit their jobs, with job satisfaction as the factor bridging that relationship. This study conducted this research using non-probability and purposive sampling methods on all millennial workers in the Karawang Industrial Area. There were 143 participants. We collected data by distributing questionnaires. We conducted instrumental tests, normal distribution tests, and classical hypothesis tests, all of which met the criteria. This study uses regression analysis and Process 4.2, a macro analysis program for SPSS 26 developed by Andrew F. Hayes, to verify the hypothesis. This study found that both work-life balance and stress significantly and positively affect employees' intention to quit. These two factors also have a significant positive impact on employee job satisfaction, thereby reducing the intention to quit. It was also revealed that job satisfaction acts as a mediator between work-life balance and stress on the intention to quit. Overall, 70.4% of the variation in the intention to quit can be explained by work-life balance, stress, and job satisfaction, while 29.6% is influenced by other variables outside the scope of the study.
