JASSI Anakku promotes research in the broad field of special need education. science, and Engineering Education. with particular respect to Indonesia, but not limited to authorship or topical coverage within the region. Contributions are expected from senior researchers, project managers, research administrators and PhD students at advanced stages of their research, representing both public organizations and private industry. Equally, the journal if intended for scholars and students, reseachers working at research organizations and government agencies, and also for enterprises undertaking applied R and D to lead innovations. The editorial contents and elements that comprise the journal include: Theoretical articles Empirical studies Practice-oriented papers Case studies Review of papers, books, and resources. As far as the criteria for evaluating and accepting submissions is concerned, a rigorous review process will be used. Submitted papers will, prior to the formal review, be screened so as to ensure their suitability and adequacy to the journal. In addition, an initial quality control will be performed, so as to ensure matters such as language, style of references and others, comply with the journals style. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the utilization of the Montessori method to improve the motor skill of students with physical impairment by practicing buttoning up the clothes using the clothing frame as a media of Montessori. Classroom action research was used as the method in this study. The subject of this study was two eight-year-old elementary students with physical impairment. The result of this study showed the students’ improvement in buttoning up clothes through the media (a clothes frame with 5 buttons on it). The learning result of the second-grade students after interacting with the media through the Montessori method approach showed as 100% and 92.6%. With the score of student activity 100% and 86,6%. For cycle II, the performance test showed 100% and 97. 33%, both students got 100% in student activity test. The highest score of the cycle I was 100% and the lowest score was 86,6%. The highest score of cycle II was 100 and the lowest was 97.33%. Judging from the categorization of learning outcomes, cycle I and cycle II were in the very good category or perfect score. The data obtained indicate that the use of the Montessori approach can improve students' ability to perform buttoning up activities by themselves through using clothes frames with buttons.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the level of effectiveness of using word folding board media to increase intellectual disability students’ vocabulary mastery. The subjects of this research were 4 intellectual disability students. The research method used was a classroom action-type method with a participatory collaborative type, with a demonstration learning method carried out in 2 cycles. The data used in this study was field studies through observation and learning outcomes tests. The results of data analysis showed that there is an increase in the vocabulary of intellectual disability students as much as 30-40% which is seen from the comparison of the initial test to the final test for 2 cycles, which is also indicated by an increase in the value of Indonesian lessons, with the grades 78,80,75,81. It was above the Minimum Completeness Criteria value of 70. This letter folding board media is a fairly new and interesting medium, with elements of guessing games that are still attached to the elements of playing and interesting pictures. This media encourages students to try using this media to increase vocabulary in Indonesian language lessons. This study demonstrates that the use of interesting and easy-to-use media will accelerate understanding and increase vocabulary in students, especially intellectual disability students. In addition, it also challenges teachers to improve their media modification skills so that it is easier to guide their students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the use of latrihal media in improving fine motor skills in students with visual impairment. The methods used are lectures, demonstrations, and assignments. The subject of this research is 1 student with visual impairment at the special needs school, in Sumedang, West Java. The results showed that students experienced an increase in ability and had reached the Minimum Completeness Criteria of 65. In the initial ability, students get a score of 25 with a percentage of 25% and increase to a score of 72 with a percentage of 72%, so that there is an increase of 47%. Increased research is also indicated by the results of initial observations obtaining a score of 2 in the discipline aspect; a score of 1 on the conscientious aspect; score 1 on the aspect of concentration; and a score of 1 on the participatory aspect to a score of 3 on the discipline aspect; a score of 3 on the conscientious aspect; score 3 on the aspect of concentration; and a score of 3 on the aspect of participation in the final observation because students get direct experience using interesting media. This study demonstrates that the use of concrete learning media will make it easier to improve students' finger coordination skills. In addition, fine motor training media also makes it easier for teachers to guide students, especially for students with visual impairment.

Abstract

Activity partners selected in this service activity were selected using a purposive sample system (subjective sample intended based on the researcher's assessment). Based on observations and informal interviews with partners and the community in Kawali Village, Ciamis, Indonesia, the empowerment of children with special needs and the community through gardening activities in the village is very necessary for land use, increasing productivity, and efforts to create an inclusive community environment. The techniques are counseling, webinars, questions and answers, the direct object method of gardening with special needs children, child gardening at home, learning active methods, descriptive interviews, and practices related to gardening activities. The results of the study are: (1) an increase in public knowledge regarding the child with special needs, (2) creating a friendly environment for crew members, (3) publication of activities published in popular media, and (4) design of sustainable targets for further activities. This community service activity has a good impact and a positive value because the series of activities carried out can be a means of improving a friendly environment for children with special needs, and providing useful knowledge to the Kawali, Ciamis, Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' ability in reading comprehension. One of the media that can be used for learning is image media. Image media is a visual medium that can increase the level of communication more concretely. These images also play a role in understanding the text they read. The method used is classroom action research which is a descriptive research method with a quantitative approach. The subjects of this study consisted of 2 intellectual disabilities students in class X senior high school at Special Needs School Aditya Grahita Bandung. The results showed that the use of image media in the reading comprehension of intellectual disabilities. This is indicated by the increasing ability of students to answer questions concerning the text that is read even though the answers are not exactly the same as the text. In the learning, this study was carried out by the teacher, especially in learning Indonesian, students have increased in understanding the reading text. The use of image media in each reading text can improve reading comprehension for students with intellectual disabilities. Research is useful for students in understanding a reading that can be used as a reference for teachers in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the affective and psychomotor aspects of 5th-grade students of elementary school West Java, Indonesia with student special needs. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method to 38 5th-grade students of elementary school West Java, Indonesia with student special needs. Data collection techniques in this study were in the form of surveys and questionnaires, namely filling out a questionnaire on a google form that had been prepared. The results of this survey stated that 90% of the students of elementary school West Java, Indonesia, 90% still often interacted with their families, did not tend to play games in their daily lives, students were still doing sports during the COVID-19 pandemic. To encourage children's psychomotor, all students are still enthusiastic when learning online, even students’ experience a decrease in enthusiasm when learning online compared to face-to-face learning. Overall, almost all students want to return to face-to-face learning directly to the school. These results indicate that the students' sense of enthusiasm for learning at elementary school.

Abstract

This study aims to improve numeracy skills with intellectual disability students through numeracy educational games media. The research method used is Classroom Action Research using demonstration learning methods. The research subjects were 2 (two) people at the Border State Special School. The results of the study showed an increase in students' ability in addition to counting after using the media of numeracy educational games. Where the value of the results of the teaching and learning process shows an increase and is in accordance with the existing Minimum Completeness Criteria. The success of this numeracy educational game media is because it is interesting for students and easy to follow. This study demonstrates that the use of numeracy educational games is easy to understand and has an impact on increasing the numeracy ability with intellectual disability students.

Abstract

Reading is an ability that must be possessed by every child, including children with special needs. This is the background of this study which aims to determine the extent of the influence of the phonic method on improving early reading skills in children with visual impairments. The research method used is an experimental method with a Single Subject Research (SSR) approach using an Applied Behavior Analysis (A-B-A) design. The presentation of the data is processed and analyzed using descriptive statistics with percentages and is displayed in graphical form. The results showed that the mean acquisition for each condition, namely the baseline phase 1 (Applied-1) was 52.50%, the intervention phase (Behavior) was 65.35%, and the baseline phase 2 (Analysis-2) increased to 87.50%. Based on the results of the study, it was shown that the phonic method affected increasing the ability to read early in children with visual impairments. Therefore, this study can provide an alternative learning strategy for teachers in improving early reading skills in children with visual impairments using the phonic method.
