Abstract

This research is aimed to know the effect composition of raw materials and concentration adhesives of urea formaldehyde to physical and mechanical properties composite board. Composite board made from the bakau bark, polypropylene plastic waste, and urea formaldehyde adhesive.  Variation ratio of bakau bark and polypropylene plastic were 60 : 40, 50 : 50, 40 : 60. The level of urea formaldehyde used thewere 10%, 12% and 14% of the total weigh of the composite board. Particle board is made with size 30 cm x 30 cm x 1 cm with target density of 0,7 g/cm3 at a specific pressure of 25 kg/cm2 and temperature of 220ºC for 10 minutes. Evaluation of the physical properties and mechanical properties was conducted according to JIS A 5908-2003. The results of this research showed the average value based the density is around 0,68 g/cm3 – 0,79 g/cm3, the moisture content is around 5,02 % -  6,84 %, thickness swelling is around 2,95 % - 4,18 %, water absorption is around 10,21 % - 19,22 %, modulus of elasticity is around 4990,46 kg/cm2 – 5780,79 kg/cm2, modulus of repture is around 104,73 kg/cm2 - 140,55 kg/cm2 , the internal bonding strength is around 7,53 kg/cm2 – 9,03 kg/cm2, and the screws holding strength is around 70,27 kg - 82,28 kg. The best treatment for the physical and mechanical of composite board made from ratio bakau bark and polypropylene plastic 40 : 60 and urea formaldehyde concentration 14%.Keyword: Bakau Bark, composite board, physical and mechanical properties, polypropylene plastic, urea formaldehyde

Abstract

Karimunting Village is a coastal area that has a mangrove with contained several faunas in it, one of which is a fiddler crab. The fiddler crab is a Decapoda ordo and it is included in the Ocypodidae family. This study aims to collect data on the diversity of fiddler crabs in Karimunting Village. The method used in this study is a survey, while the sample is collected by applying the transect line with a purposive sampling technique. The transect line is 500 m length, with a total of three lanes. There are ten plots of 1x1 meter in size in each transect lines to pick up fiddler crabs. Fiddler crabs species were found in 6 species, namely Uca paradussumieri, Uca annulipes, Uca forcipata, Uca rosea, Uca crassipes and Uca tetragonon. The Shannon-Winner species diversity index (H') of fiddler crabs in 1st and 2nd lanes both are categorized medium, while in the 3rd lane is categorized low. The range of values H'=0,3-1,5. The value of species abundance index (Xi) ranges from 3-16.6 ind/m2. The value of evenness index (e) ranges from 0,72 to 0,84. The dominance index value (C) ranges from 0,3 to 0,5 categorized as the absence of the dominant species of fiddler crab. Comparison of species similarity index (IS) for each lane is categorized differently, for the 1st and 2nd lane the index is 91% and categorized as having high species similarity, then in 2nd and 3rd lane the index is 75% and categorized as having a medium species similarity, whereas the index for 1st and 3rd is 60%, therefore it is categorized as having low species similarity.Keyword: Diversity, Fiddler Crab, Karimunting Village

Abstract

Gastropod is a single-shelled animal that walks using stomach for their legs. Mangrove forest located Mendalok village, Sungai Kunyit sub-district, Mempawah district have pristine mangroves whose function is still maintained and is natural. The purpose of this study was to examine the diversity of Gastropoda species in Mendalok the area. Data retrieval the diversity of Gastropod species, the researchers empolyed a purposive sampling method that making each zone used 3 lines observation of each one line transect. While the three observation tracks consist of the Avicenia zone, Rhizopor zone, Bruguiera zone. The number of Gastropod individual found was 367 with 5 families and 8 species (Cerithideopsilla alata, littorina obstutata, Littorinopsis anguliferis, Littoraria melanstoma, Graciliclva costata, Casidulla aurisfelis, Ellobium aurisjudae, and Lirttoraria undulata). The research found diversity indexes in Avicennia zone = 2,98, Rhizopora zone = 3,05 and Bruguiera zone = 1,16. Especially, the highest density is in the type of Gastropod Littoraria undulata. Additionally, the dominant index is found in the Avicenia zona = 0,8562, the Rhizopora zone = 0, 5410 and Bruguiera zone = 0,4585. While the low similarity index exist in both Bruguiera zone = 28,77 % and Avicenia zone = 28,50%, and the index of type similarity is at the value of 0,1117.Keyword: Ecotourism of mangrove, Gastropods, mangrove forests.

Abstract

Mangrove Forest in Sungai Bakau Kecil Village is located in Mempawah Timur District, Mempawah Regency. Mangrove ecosystem which has high economic and ecological value. Various species of mangroves, fish, shrimp, crabs and birds can be found in this area. The purpose of this study is to describe the influence of texture, water content and soil salinity to abundance of shellfish in mangrove forest Sungai Bakau Kecil Village Mempawah District. This research was conducted by using survey method, soil sampling technique and mangrove clam done purposively (purposive sampling). Soil samples were tested in the laboratory to see some observed parameters such as soil texture, soil water content, and salinity. Data analysis using descriptive. The texture of soil in mangrove forest of Sungai Bakau Kecil Village is a dusty clay loam soil classes. Soil texture does not determine the presence of shellfish in the mangrove forest of Sungai Bakau Kecil Village because the habitat of the shell is in the muddy or sandy ground. Shellfish can also live on the ground with dusty clay loam soil classes. Salinity suitable for shellfish with salinity value is 4.18 ppt, 4.27 pptdan 4.22 ppt with abundance of 3 / m². The soil water content that determines the abundance of shellfish in the mangrove forest of Sungai Bakau Kecil Village with a range of values that is 36.57%, 41.33% and 50.61% with abundance 3 / m² Other factors that influence the presence of shellfish is human activity which takes the shellfish in the forest and the seasonal factor also determines the amount of shellfish in the forest. Keywords: Abundance, Inland Water Content, Mangrove forest, Salinity, Texture.
