Abstract

According to data from statistics, the productivity of paddy (Oryza sativa L.) in the sub-district of Nagrak has decreased. One of the causes is the decline in land quality due to the lack of positive perceptions of farmers on the application of land conservation technology. This study aims to determine farmers' perceptions of the application of land conservation technology in lowland rice cultivation, analyze the factors that influence farmers' perceptions, and formulate extension strategies so that farmers have positive perceptions of the application of land conservation technology. The study used descriptive analysis and factorthe ial method. Based on the results of the study on 60 respondents, it shows that most of the farmers' perceptions, in general, are neutral, namely the application of land conservation technology has benefits for the environment but not economically and not by the habits of farmers. The factors that significantly influence the perception of farmers to consist of a length of education, the role of farmer groups, and the role of agricultural extension. The strategy to improve farmers' perceptions consists of optimizing the role of agricultural extension and farmer groups through the implementation of extension on land conservation technology in farmer groups as an effort to increase the capacity of farmers.

Abstract

Corn is a commodity located in Majalengka Regency is needed for many industries. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency, the Productivity of maize the average is in the District of Majalengka at 7,95 tons/ha, while the average productivity of maize in the District of Maja Majalengka range of 7.4 tons/ha. It can be argued that the productivity of corn in the District of Maja is still below the average of t h e Majalengka Regency. This study aims to describe the level of capacity of the farmers, knowing the influence of capacity building of farmers, to analyze the differences in growth between the use of the system jajar legowo the cultivation of corn and maize cultivation conventional and describe a strategy to increase the capacity of the farmers. The study involved 62 samples from 162 the population is scattered in Villages Anggrawati, Cipicung, and Wanahayu. The instrument in this research consists of the independent variable. As well as the dependent variable. Data analysis used is descriptive analysis, multiple linear regression, and one[1]way ANOVA. The level of farmer capacity in the implementation of the jajar legowo system in Maja District is in the medium category, namely 79%. The strategy for increasing the capacity of farmers is based on the results of descriptive analysis, namely counseling on corn cultivation using the jajar legowo system and bookkeeping in farming activities.

Abstract

One of the obstacles in the sweet potato production system is the attack of the sweet potato weevil (Cylas Formicarius) that is the main pest on sweet potato plants. The efforts of farmers in Maja District to deal with these pests are still low and depend on the use of chemical pesticides. The behaviour of farmers is influenced by the perception of farmers who consider chemical pesticides to be the main solution in controlling plant-disturbing organisms. Innovations in pest control can be carried out with preventive measures such as the use of pheromone that trap and disrupt pest mating and plant-based insecticides that are more environmentally friendly. The study aims to analyze the perception of sweet potato farmers on controlling sweet potato weevil pests through the use of pheromones and neem leaf vegetable insecticides, related factors and strategies that can be done in increasing farmers' perceptions. The results of descriptive analysis of 72 sample respondents can be seen that the perception of sweet potato farmers in Maja District on the use of pheromones and neem leaf vegetable insecticides in controlling sweet potato weevil pests is in the poor category with a value of 49.9%. The results of the correlation analysis of rank spearman at a significance level of 5% (0.05) show related factors including land area, income, technical aspects and social interaction.

Abstract

The population of sheep in Kaso Village, Tambaksari District is still very low compared to the average number of needs each year. One of the feed manipulation techniques that can be done is by giving Bioplus probiotics. This study aims to analyze the increase in knowledge and skills of farmers on the provision of Bioplus probiotics. This study aims to analyze the improvement of farmers' knowledge and skills on the provision of Bioplus probiotics The extension technique used uses a combination of media and extension methods such as lectures, discussions, demonstrations of methods, and applied studies and is combined with powerpoint media and posters. The instrument used is a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability using SPSS version 21. The counseling respondents consisted of 30 members of KWT Sauyunan. The evaluation of the extension was analyzed using the Padmowiharjo formula (1999). The results of the extension evaluation show the criteria of Success for the knowledge aspect and Fairly Successful in the skill aspect. Thus the extension of the provision of Bioplus probiotics to sheep is able to increase the knowledge and skills of members of the women's farmer group.

Abstract

The use of tofu and Gamal dregs in sheep rations for breeders in Ciakar village is not widely known. Therefore, the objective of this study is to see the extent of knowledge and skills in adopting simple technology regarding the use of tofu and Gamal dregs in sheep feed rations and increasing daily body weight (PPBH) of sheep. The study was carried out from April 5 to June 28, 2021. The treatment was given various doses of tofu and Gamal dregs to the daily weight gain of sheep and a questionnaire to see the level of knowledge and skills of sheep breeders using the additional feed. The results showed that the use of tofu and Gamal dregs was able to increase the PBBH by 171.5 g/head/day compared to the control (without giving tofu and Gamal dregs). In addition, the level of knowledge and skills of farmers increased by 52.88% and skills by 51.29% with the criteria of success for the adoption of simple technology using additional feed tofu dregs and Gamal in sheep feed rations.

Abstract

Seed treatment is strived to secure and improve the growth and development of lowland rice plants. It is done because lowland rice plants’ production does not meet the expectations; the low productivity of lowland rice plants is 61.35 kW/ha/th/GKP. The study aims to describe the level of participation of farmers in seed treatment, analyze factors related to farmers' participation in seed treatment, and develop strategies to increase farmer participation. The study was conducted from April to July 2019 in Tambaksari District, Ciamis Regency, West Java. The target is farmers who are members of the farmer group with the commodity paddy. The total respondents were 71 farmers. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with closed questionnaires and direct observation. Descriptive analysis is used to describe the level of farmer participation, while correlation analysis is used to find out factors related to farmer participation. Paddy farmers' involvement in seed treatment activities is included in the "medium" category. Factors related to farmers' participation in seed treatment are the government's willingness, ability, and support and the availability of agricultural production facilities. Need to be done: increasing the intensity of extension activities, training in how to give treatment to lowland rice seeds, making seed selection, and measuring soil pH to achieve the goal of improving the quality of rice field seedlings and more optimal plant development. The procurement of production facilities is needed by farmers in superior seeds, water reservoirs, and growth regulatory substances.

Abstract

This study aims to describe farmers' preferences in the use of new superior varieties of rice seeds and analyze the factors that influence farmers' preferences. This research was conducted in Rajapolah District, Tasikmalaya Regency. The data analysis of this study used descriptive and Chi-square analysis techniques. Farmers' preferences are known based on scores. Primary data was generated from filling out a questionnaire by 74 respondents. Characteristics of farmers consist of: age, formal education, experience in farming, knowledge of farmers. External factors: the role of extension workers, extension activities and the availability of facilities and infrastructure. The dependent variable consists of attributes, experience and satisfaction. The results of this study indicate that farmers' preferences reach the high criteria (18.92%) and are dominated by the medium criteria (79.73%). Based on seed attributes, farmers in Rajapolah District tend to prefer the Inpari 32 variety to the Mekongga variety, taking into account the attributes based on pest resistance. Experience and satisfaction with the Inpari 32 variety showed superior production even though the taste of rice was preferred by the Mekongga variety. Factors that influence farmers' preferences are indicators of knowledge on attribute indicators, age on experience, knowledge on experience, availability of facilities and infrastructure on experience and availability of facilities and infrastructure on satisfaction.
