Abstract

One way to reduce the negative impact of pesticide use on rice plants is to carry out integrated pest control. As for pest control efforts that can be done is to utilize physical plant-disturbing organisms, namely natural enemies. This study was conducted to determine the level of farmer group participation in integrated pest control through the use of Trichogramma sp in rice farming, analyze the characteristics, external factors and IPM principles on the level of group participation in integrated pest control through the use of Trichogramma sp in rice plants and develop an extension strategy to increase participation. farmers. Based on the results of research from 68 respondents that the participation rate of farmer groups at the planning stage was 51.5% (medium), the implementation stage was 64.7% (medium) at the evaluation stage was 63.2% (medium). Factors that partially influence participation are length of farming (0.021), institutional role (0.032), social and cultural environment (0.000), utilization of natural enemies (0.001), routine monitoring (0.000), and farmers as IPM experts ( 0.037). Based on the high value beta coefficient taken from indicators that have a significant effect on the participation variable, a strategy is formulated to increase farmer group participation through strengthening the social and cultural environment, strengthening the frequency of monitoring land and plants so that farmers know the conditions and needs of these plants.

The preference of youth farmers to urban farming is very important in the implementation of urban farming activities in the District of Tarogong Kidul, Garut Regency. This study aims to analyze the level of youth farmers preferences, the factors that influence youth farmers preferences, and formulate strategies to increase youth farmers preferences towards urban farming. This study was carried out in Sukakarya Village, Sukagalih Village, and Jayaraga Village, Tarogong Kidul District, Garut Regency. The research sample consisted of 40 youth farmers aged between 15 - 35 years who were part of the farmer youth group, agricultural families, and farm laborers. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling and Slovin. Primary data collection using a questionnaire instrument. Data were processed using descriptive analysis techniques, multiple linear regression analysis, and Kendall's W concordance analysis. The results of the study showed that the preferences of young farmers reached 65% to choose / preference/like towards urban farming. Factors that influence the preferences of youth farmers to urban farming are the type of location and market orientation of urban farming. The strategy to increase the preference of youth farmers to urban agriculture can be done by introducing location-specific urban farming technology and utilizing idle land into productive land using targeted methods through extension activities.

Meanwhile, external factors related to the level of participation of farmers are the role of extension workers as facilitators, motivators and initiators, availability of facilities and infrastructure, and availability of information. Opportunities are the "lowest" indicator of farmer participation. The level of farmer participation in this assessment falls into the "high" category. Internal factors related to the level of farmer participation are land area. External factors related to the level of farmer participation are the role of extension workers, the availability of infrastructure, and the availability of information. To increase farmers' participation, a demonstration plot is needed. So that it can be used as an extension material but adapted to the conditions and needs of farmers.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic outbreak has an impact on the global food crisis which threatens countries in the world. In Indonesia, food availability is important to maintain national economic stability, so that food security needs to be increased by realizing food sovereignty and self- sufficiency (food resilience). Agricultural extension as the spearhead of agricultural development has an important role in disseminating information to farmers as an effort to prevent food crises in Indonesia. The success of extension activities will not be separated from the influence of extension media. In today's digital era, extension media has developed a lot. The effectiveness of the use of extension media in accelerating the dissemination of information needs to be known to be used as a recommendation for agricultural extension workers in choosing the right media. This study aims to determine the level of effectiveness of extension media in the diffusion of P2L information, so that it can be identified which types of media are effective in carrying out extension activities. This research uses descriptive analysis method and data processing using multiple linear regression. The research variables used were printed (X1), projected (X2), and audio-visual (X3) extension media, as well as effectiveness (Y1).The results showed that the effect of agricultural extension media on the level of effectiveness of agricultural extension in P2L information diffusion was 61.3%. Variables that have a one-way contribution are printed extension media (X1) of 0.043 and audio-visual (X3) of 1.3. Meanwhile, the variable that has a non- unidirectional contribution is the projected extension media (X2) of -0.163. Referring to the results obtained, it can be concluded that the most effective agricultural extension media in P2L information diffusion is audio-visual. Thus extension workers should optimize the use of audio- visual media in extension activities.

Abstract

The demand for organic rice products in the Al Barokah Gapoktan until 2021 reaches 520 tons/year, while the availability of raw materials is only 430 tons/year. So it is necessary to expand the land and recruit organic farmers. This study aims to find factors that influence the decision making of organic rice cultivation in the Al Barokah Gapoktan, Bondowoso Regency. This research is a descriptive quantitative study, with interview data collection techniques through questionnaires to 76 samples taken through simple random sampling. The data is then processed and analyzed using multiple linear regression data analysis. The results of the analysis of the data obtained, the availability of services (farm credit, facilities & infrastructure, marketing guarantees) and the nature of innovation (relative profit, compatibility, complexity and observability) have a significant effect on decision making in organic rice cultivation. Meanwhile, the characteristics of farmers (age, education, intensity of attending counseling, land area and income) did not significantly influence the decision making of organic rice cultivation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of farmers' perceptions of Alsintan Service Enterprises (UPJA) and the factors that influence farmers' perceptions of UPJA. The research was conducted using survey techniques, descriptive analysis and inferential statistics. The research location was determined purposively, namely Gunungkidul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. The UPJA sample was determined purposively, namely UPJA Tirtosari. The sample of farmers was determined purposively, namely UPJA customer farmers as many as 30 respondents, both members of the UPJA group and not members of the UPJA group. Analysis of the level of farmers' perceptions of UPJA statistically quantitative descriptive using a Likert scale with a score of 1 - 5, and the factors that influence farmers' perceptions using multiple linear regression analysis with the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method. The results showed that farmers' perceptions of UPJA with a score of 4.31 were in the very good category. Perception-forming factors, namely length of formal education, age, farming experience, land area, access to information, the role of extension workers and the role of farmer groups simultaneously influence farmers' perceptions of UPJA significantly. Abstract

Motivation is one aspect that determines the success of livestock business as an economic activity in increasing income and fulfilled family needs. The research was carried out in Ngudi Makmur II Farmers Group and Tirto Kencono Farmers Group, Banyudono Village, Dukun District from 05 March to 30 April 2018. The aim were to know the level of motivation of farmers in the cultivation of sheep and determine the relation between characteristics of the farmers to motivation in sheep farming. The study design used was descriptive quantitative. The variables of this research consisted of independent variables such as the characteristics of farmers (age, education level, farming experience, the number of livestock ownership and the number of family dependents) and the dependent variable in the form of farmers motivation. Respondents in this study were 35 people taken by census method. Data were collected by observation and interview. Motivation levels were analyzed descriptively while the relationship between variables were analyzed by Rank Spearman correlation. The results showed that 2.86% of farmers at moderate level, 42.86% of farmers at high level and 54.29% of farmers at very high level. The aging of farmers is likely to decrease the motivation in the cultivation of sheep, the higher the level of education of farmers that motivation increases, the more the number of livestock owned by the motivation tends to increase, farmers with more experience tend to have a higher motivation and the greater number of dependents the motivation of farmers tend more increasing.
