Abstract

The mangrove forest in Kayu Ara Permai Village, Sungai Apit, Siak Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia, is a mangrove forest managed by the local community as the "Historic River" Mangrove Ecotourism Area. Mangrove forests have become a tourist attraction for many local and national tourists. The purpose of this study was to identify plants that have potential as medicinal plants in mangrove ecotourism areas of "Sungai Bersejarah" Kayu Ara Permai Village, Sungai Apit, Siak Regency, Riau Province. This study used a survey method in mangrove forests to conduct an inventory of the medicinal plants scattered throughout the area. Observations were made using a combination of the path and plot methods. The investigation was carried out by cross-checking the traditional use of medicinal plants by the surrounding community with the scientific literature. The results showed 7 species of medicinal plants from 5 different families, namely Avicennia alba, Rhizophora apiculate, Bruguiera parviflora, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Xylocarpus granatum, Sonneratia alba, and Acrostichum aureum. Mangrove density levels were in the sparse category (less than 1,000 trees/ha) and had low diversity levels, with two dominant species, Rhizophora apiculata and Xylocarpus granatum.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is still a frightening thing for women and is the second deadliest cancer after breast cancer in Indonesia. The high incidence of cervical cancer in Indonesia is influenced by low screening coverage. Until 2021, only 6.83% of women aged 30–50 years had undergone screening examinations using the IVA method. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge of Women of Childbearing Age (WUS) in carrying out early detection of cervical cancer using the Acetic Acid Visual Inspection (IVA) method. This research applies an analytical survey design with a cross-sectional design, with a sample of 86 WUS selected using accidental sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire, the data obtained was then analyzed using the Chi square test. The analysis results show that the p value = 0.00. It could be concluded that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge of Women of Childbearing Age (WUS) in carrying out early detection of cervical cancer using the Acetic Acid Visual Inspection (IVA) method.

Abstract

Mycobacterium tuberculosis is the second leading cause of death worldwide, after COVID-19. This study investigated the prevalence and microenvironmental determinants of pulmonary TB in Dumai City, focusing on the urban areas. Using a cross-sectional approach in three areas with high, medium, and low rates of pulmonary TB, this study identified the ventilation, lighting, humidity, floor and wall material type, and occupancy density variables that influence pulmonary TB transmission. The results showed that inadequate microenvironmental conditions significantly contributed to the spread of pulmonary TB. Effective management of these microenvironmental risk factors is essential as a basis for public health interventions to reduce the TB prevalence in Dumai City.

Abstract

An in-depth understanding of the background of the problem of anemia in pregnant women in Indonesia is crucial for designing and implementing more effective intervention programs. Effective prevention and intervention programs and efforts to holistically increase nutritional awareness in society are a must to achieve positive change in overcoming anemia in pregnant women in Indonesia. To analyze more deeply the extent to which previous research has investigated interventions for pregnant women with anemia in Indonesia. This research uses the PRISMA literature review, through a digital library database that is connected to various scientific publication pages through keywords such as "Anemia", "Pregnant Women", "Anemia of Pregnant Women", and "Anemia Intervention". Research methods include quantitative, qualitative methods and reviews related to intervention strategies for pregnant women with anemia in Indonesia. Effective interventions for pregnant women with anemia include health education, a combination of blood supplement tablets and juices and consumption of iron from natural sources. Interventions based on a sustainable and integrated approach, involving various parties including families, communities, government, private parties and non-government partners, are needed to achieve significant and sustainable changes in tackling anemia in pregnant women in Indonesia.

Abstract

Stunting not only has an impact on children's physical growth and development, but also has significant long-term implications for the quality of Indonesia's human resources (HR) in the future. Comprehensive and multi-sectoral stunting management efforts involving various parties need to be carried out. To analyze more deeply the intervention strategies that have been implemented in efforts to deal with stunting in Indonesia as a form of identifying approaches that have been proven successful and are relevant for the Indonesian context. This research uses the PRISMA literature review, through a digital library database that is connected to various scientific publication pages through keywords such as "Stunting", "Stunting Intervention", "Stunting Strategy", and "Stunting Program". Eligibility criteria use various types of methods The research includes quantitative, qualitative methods and reviews related to intervention strategies for handling stunting in Indonesia. Intervention strategies for handling stunting in Indonesia include three groups of programs, namely age-specific nutrition programs, nutrition and reproductive health education as well as strengthening posyandu and community health centers. Strategies Stunting prevention interventions in Indonesia must involve all stakeholders, prioritize preventive approaches, and encourage changes in community behavior. By strengthening government commitment and innovative cross-sector collaboration, it is hoped that Indonesia can overcome the challenge of stunting in a sustainable manner.
