Abstract

This research is based on the low ability of creative thinking in SMAN 1 Wedung. Learning can be optimal when students learn according to their learning styles. However, in reality, learning based on students' differing interests and learning styles is not well facilitated. This is due to several factors. The purpose of this study was to exploring differentiated learning to foster creative thinking on stoichiometry material in high school. This research is a quantitative research with a quasy experimental design of non-equivalent control group design. The sampling technique used cluster random sampling technique. The population of the research sample was all students in grade XI and the samples used in the study were class XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 2. Class XI MIPA 1 as the experimental class and class XI MIPA 2 as the control class. The research data were obtained through the pre-test and post-test results of the control and experimental classes which were then analyzed using the t- test test. Based on the final stage of data analysis, the results of hypothesis testing using the t-test on post-test data showed a significance value (2- tailed) of 0.000. Because the significance value (2- tailed) is smaller than 0.05, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted while the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. So it can be concluded that the differentiated learning model is effective for improving students' creative thinking skills in stoichiometry material.

Abstract

Numeracy literacy refers to the understanding and skills in applying various numbers and symbols related to basic mathematics to solve practical problems in everyday situations. Numeracy skills are essential as they are closely connected to daily life. The benefits of numeracy literacy, as directly experienced by students, include the ability and competence in handling symbols and calculations applicable in real-life contexts, such as effective task management and making decisions with ease. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of GeoGebra as a learning medium in improving students’ numeracy literacy on the topic of Systems of Two-Variable Linear Equations (SPLDV), with attention to students’ abilities to understand concepts, use mathematical representations, and solve contextual problems. The study employed a quasi-experimental design involving 29 Grade VIII students, using a one-group pretest-posttest design. Research instruments consisted of a questionnaire to measure students’ responses to GeoGebra and six essay questions related to SPLDV. Following the administration of the pretest, posttest, and questionnaire, the data were analyzed to determine students’ test score improvements using the Paired Samples T-Test and N-Gain calculations. The Paired Samples T-Test results showed an average pretest-posttest difference of 22.74 with a calculated t-value of 5.523, yielding a significance level of

Abstract

Challenges in conceptual understanding and engagement persist in undergraduate trigonometry education, often due to static instructional methods and limited use of dynamic visual tools. Recent advances in artificial intelligence offer new opportunities for educators to independently design interactive instructional media, even without advanced programming expertise. Leveraging this potential, the present study aimed to develop and evaluate Python-based interactive media, integrating AI-generated content using the ADDIE design model. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, Likert-scale questionnaires, and observations. Qualitative data were analysed thematically, while quantitative responses were summarised using descriptive statistics. The findings indicate that the interactive media was perceived as engaging in visualising trigonometric concepts, particularly sine and cosine, but revealed areas of confusion regarding the tangent function and challenges in self-directed learning. The study concludes that AI-assisted interactive media support conceptual understanding and student engagement, while also empowering educators to create personalised learning tools without requiring sophisticated technical skills. These results inform the design of accessible, technology-enhanced mathematics instruction

Abstract

Critical thinking skills (CTS) are essential competencies in science education for preparing students to respond to complex socioscientific challenges in the 21st century. Nevertheless, empirical evidence and classroom practices indicate that Indonesian students’ CTS remain at a low level, particularly in biotechnology learning, which often requires higher-order reasoning. This condition is exacerbated by the dominant use of textbook-centered instruction and the limited availability of digital teaching materials that systematically integrate real-world socioscientific issues (SSI). Therefore, the development of innovative, context-based instructional materials is urgently needed. This study aimed to examine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of a science e-module integrating the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and SSI to enhance students’ CTS in biotechnology. A Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model was employed, involving 32 ninth-grade students at a Public Junior High School 11 Magelang. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and CTS pretest–posttest instruments. The results showed that the e-module was valid (Aiken’s V = 0.92), practical (81%), and effective in improving students’ CTS, as indicated by a significant Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test result (p = 0.000) with a moderate N-Gain of 0.47. These findings suggest that integrating PBL and SSI in a digital e-module effectively supports the development of students’ critical thinking skills in science learning.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate food security in the perspective of junior high school students in urban area in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The research is a cross-sectional study using survey method to explore students"™ perception. The study involved 191 junior high school students from grade 7, 8, and 9. The sample was chosen by convenience sampling. The research used 4 open ended questions which are delivered by utilizing google forms. However, students were supervised while completing the survey. Therefore, the researcher could minimize interfering variable which might affect students"™ answer. The result found that most student link food security to sufficient and availability aspect. Furthermore, nutrition, accessibility, safe, and healthy aspect of the food appear in smaller frequency. However, there is no students mention the aspect of affordability, beliefs, sustainability, utilization, and stability of food. There is a need to enhance students"™ awareness in the sustainability aspect of food security since Indonesia performs very weak in ensuring the sustainability and adaptation aspect. It is found that in the perspective of 57% the students, Indonesia has a good food security while about 43 % think otherwise. Students already have a hint of factors that can negatively impact food security Indonesia as well as supporting factor.

Abstract

This study aims to examine a test instrument to ensure its conformity with appropriate formats and procedures for measuring senior high school students’ mastery of temperature and heat concepts. The instrument consists of 14 multiple-choice questions. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method to evaluate and produce a high-quality and valid test instrument. The instrument underwent revision through consultation with expert lecturers and was then empirically tested on 95 students at SMAN 1 Pamekasan as respondents. The test items were analyzed using SPSS version 30, covering four stages of empirical analysis: validity testing, reliability testing, item difficulty analysis, and item discrimination analysis, all conducted using classical test theory parameters. Based on the results of the point biserial analysis, questions 1, 9, and 11 are below standard. Reliability shows a Cronbach's alpha of 0.708, which means it is reliable. The difficulty level test results show that out of 14 questions, 3 questions are categorized as difficult and 1 question is very easy. In the discrimination test, 5 questions are categorized as poor, 3 questions are moderate, and 7 questions are good. Overall, 11 questions were deemed acceptable and passed the empirical test, while 3 questions (numbers 1, 9, and 11) were disqualified. The weakness of this instrument testing is that the results are highly dependent on the abilities of the participants. For example, question number 9, which was adapted from PhysPort and simplified in language, still had to be disqualified because it did not meet the empirical criteria.

Abstract

The rapid development of science and technology in the 21st century demands educational transformation that prepares students not only to master knowledge but also to apply it in solving real-world problems. However, learning in Vocational High Schools (SMK) often still focuses on cognitive achievement rather than developing competencies related to sustainability and innovation. This study aims to explore the potential application of the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM)-based Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) approach in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) project learning in Vocational High Schools (SMK). The research method used is qualitative descriptive with a literature review approach (library research), examining various sources from accredited national and international journals, conference proceedings, and educational policy documents. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques to identify themes, patterns, and relevant findings from the literature. The research results indicate that the application of ESD-STEAM in IPAS project-based learning at SMK has great potential in enhancing 21st-century competencies, such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills. Additionally, this approach integrates sustainability concepts with contextual project-based problem-solving, enabling students to apply knowledge practically in social, environmental, and technological contexts. These findings align with previous research demonstrating that the integration of ESD and STEAM can enhance science literacy, environmental awareness, and readiness for a sustainable workforce.

Abstract

Understanding the concept of mole in chemistry learning is an important aspect in supporting student learning success, especially in stoichiometry material which is abstract and complex. This research aims to explore the profile of students' conceptual understanding of stoichiometry based on the dominance of multiple intelligences. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with 36 students of class XI-F4 at SMAN 1 Darul Imarah. Data were collected through a multiple intelligence questionnaire, concept understanding test, and semi-structured interview. Data analysis consisted of data presentation and data verification, conducted by comparing students’ test results with interview responses to ensure consistency of understanding indicators. The results showed that students with linguistic, intrapersonal, and interpersonal intelligence understood all indicators of understanding, such as defining concepts, interpreting meanings, identifying concept features, and comparing relevant concepts. Students with logical-mathematical and musical intelligences were able to understand most indicators but had difficulty in differentiating concepts. Students with spatial, naturalistic, and existential intelligences excelled in concept identification and comparison but lacked in verbal definition. Students with kinesthetic intelligence mastered only basic indicators. This finding confirms that intelligence variation plays an important role in understanding chemical concepts. Teachers are expected to design learning that is adaptive to students’ intelligence profiles to improve learning quality
