Abstract

Bakau (Rhizophora apiculate Blume) has the potential as natural preservatives, especially on the bark. The active chemical components contained in extracts of Bakau bark are tannins, saponins, and flavonoids. The objectives of the study were to determine the toxicity of extract of n-hexane fraction and ethyl acetate fraction of R. apiculata bark on subterranean termites Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren and to evaluate the optimal concentration of extract of n-hexane fraction and ethyl acetate fraction of R. apiculata bark against subterranean termites Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren. The method used in this research is a Completely Randomized Design with Factorial consisting of two factors. First factor consist of n-hexane fraction and ethyl acetate fraction, and second factor consist of six concentrations i.e. 0%; 2%; 4%; 6%; 8%; and 10%. All treatment was conducted on four replications. Medium for testing with subterranean termites was a glass jar containing 10 gram sand and 45 termites worker and 5 termites soldier. Cellulose paper contained extract of n-hexane fraction and ethyl acetate fraction are used as a food source for termites for 21 days. After that the mortality of termites and weight loss of cellulose paper was measure. Result of research showed that concentration 8% and 10% both on extract of n-hexane fraction and ethyl acetate fraction has a high antitermite’s activity with mortality value ≥ 95%. The optimal concentration was achieved on concentration 8% both on extract of n-hexane fraction and ethyl acetate fraction.Keywords : Antitermites, Bark, Coptotermes curvignathus, Rhizophora apiculata, Toxicity

Abstract

Critical land is a damaged land, thus losing or decreasing its function to the specified or expected limits. The identification and critical lands mapping is essential for the planning and determination of priority watersheds in order to the utilization and development of natural resources and land rehabilitation and soil conservation. Remote sensing is a technique that enable people to collect data without direct field measurement. The using of Landsat 8 image then analyzed by using Geographic Information System (GIS) is being expected to improve the ability to classify land cover, the map was then overlad with parameter map based on Regulation of Director General of Management of Watershed and Social Forestry Number P. 4 / V-Set / 2013 about technical guidance on the preparation of spatial data of other critical lands to identify critical lands in Kayong Utara Regency.Keywords: Degraded land, Geographic Information System (GIS), Remote sensing, overlay

Abstract

Monitoring forest cover to find out deforestation activities in a national park serves as an important task. This study aims to analyze forest cover changes in Gunung Palung National Park from 1989 to 2018. The method employs visual interpretation aided by supervised classification with the maximum likelihood method. Remote sensing data involved 18 Landsat images from 1989 to 2018 path/row 121/61. The results indicated that Gunung Palung National Park had 97,148 hectares of primary forest losing its 10% of its forest (since 1989). The primary forest decreased to 72,684 hectares in 1997 and 69,851 hectares in 2018. To date, primary forest cover has been found stable with secondary forests reaching to 25,050 hectares occupying 26% of Gunung Palung National Park area. Deforestation in Gunung Palung National Park was due to illegal logging and forest fires as a result of El Nio influence. The results of the analysis informed that there was an insignificant deforestation in Gunung Palung National Park during in the period of 2016 - 2018. In sum, conservation programs are encouraged to sustain, despite a decline in deforestation activities at Gunung Palung National Park. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis perubahan tutupan hutan di TN Gunung Palung dari tahun 1989 2018. Metode yang digunakan adalah visual dibantu dengan klasifikasi terselia dengan metode maximum likelihood. Data penginderaan jauh yang digunakan adalah 18 citra Landsat tahun 1989 2018 path/row 121/61. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sejak tahun 1989 TN Gunung Palung memiliki hutan primer seluas 97.148 hektar atau telah kehilangan 10% hutannya. Luas hutan primer menurun menjadi 72.684 hektar di tahun 1997 dan menjadi 69.851 hektar ditahun 2018. Saat ini kondisi tutupan hutan primer dalam kondisi stabil dengan hutan sekunder mencapai 25.050 hektar atau 26% dari luas TN Gunung Palung. Deforestasi di TN Gunung Palung disebabkan oleh pembalakan liar dan kebakaran hutan akibat pengaruh El Nio. Hasil analisis tidak ditemukan deforestasi di TN Gunung Palung selama rentang 2016 2018. Program konservasi harus tetap dilakukan walaupun telah terjadi penurunan aktivitas deforestasi di TN Gunung Palung.Kata kunci: Taman Nasional Gunung Palung, konservasi hutan, deforestasi

Abstract

A study on the influence of of SP 36 dosage on jelutung (D.lowii Hook) seeds with mycorrhizal inoculation in the peat soils was conducted in a greenhouse Soil Science Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture, is Gadjah Mada University for 5 months in 2010. Research purpose was to determine was the dosage of fertilizer SP 36 can enhance the growth of jelutung seedlings inoculated with arbuskular mycorrhizal fungi. Nursery experiments were conducted using Completely Randomized Factorial Design with three replications. Observations made on jelutung seedlings 14 weeks of age after weaning include: height, diameter, number of leaves, shoot dry weight, and P uptake of plants after harvest. Abstract

The aim of this research is to identification of medicinal plants in Parit H. Husin 2 street Pontianak Tenggara Subdistrict. Method of the research is documentation part of plants, take some of leaf and species identification in laboratory. The quantity of medicinal plants are 65 species that distribution in 42 family, majority family is Euphorbiaceae (6 species), 50.77% used for both of outside and inside of body, 43.08% used only for inside of body and 6.15% used only for outside of body. Abstract

The objective of this research is to evaluate the effect of the number of composite layers on the quality of the composite board from sago bark waste and plastic waste, and the number of composite layers that produce the best quality on composite board. The composite board is made with size 30 cm x 30 cm x 1 cm. The composition and division of the material was carried out manually with the polypropylene distribution divided into three parts: the front and rear respectively of 15%, and the center 70% of the plastic weight. Target density of composite boards was 0.7 g / cm3. The treatment used is based on the number of layers composing, which is 5 layers, 7 layers, 9 layers, 11 layers and 13 layers. After mixed the sago bark particle and waste of polypropylene, the materials then compressed with hot press at 180oC with pressure about ± 25 kg / cm2 for 10 minutes. The composite boards then tested the quality included physical and mechanical properties. Testing of physical and mechanical properties refers to JIS A 5908-2003 standard. Physical properties consist of density, moisture content, thickness swelling, and water absorption. Mechanical properties consist of modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity, internal bonding, and modulus of screw holding strength. The study used a completely randomized design experiment consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications. The results showed the average value of composite density was range between 0.6962 – 0.7896 g/cm3, the moisture content was range between 4.3388 % - 6.8066%, the thickness swelling was range between 8.2605% - 11.9615%, and water absorption was range between 17.2380% - 22.3867%. The average value of modulus of rupture was range between 60,0632 kg/cm2 – 64,4068 kg/cm2, the modulus of elasticity was range between 17935,1813g/cm2 – 32841,8278 kg/cm2, the internal bonding was range between 1,9268 kg/cm2  - 5,4119 kg/cm2, and the modulus of screw holding strength was range between 78,2530 kg/cm2 – 92,9677 kg/cm2. The composite board made from sago stem bark waste and polypropylene waste plastic with 13 layers treatment is the best composite board and fulfilled the JIS A 5908-2003 standard. Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the quality of particle boards from bark fiber of sago (Metroxylon spp) with citric acid as natural adhesives based on physical properties, mechanical properties, and durability from subterranean termites Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren. Particle boards are made with a size of 30 cm x 30 cm x 1 cm. The experimental factors used in the study included densities (0.7 gr/cm3 and 0.8 gr/cm3) and concentrations of citric acid adhesives (20% and 30%). The material then flow into hotpress with 1800C for 15 minutes and pressure at 25 kg/cm2. Testing of the physical and mechanical properties of particle boards refers to the JIS A 5908-2003 standard and durability against subterranean termites Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren was conducted based on SNI 01. 7207-2006. The results showed that the densities factor had a significant effect on density, thickness swelling, MOE, MOR, internal bond, screw holding strength, and weight loss of the particle board against termites. Meanwhile concentration of citric acid adhesive significantly affected the density, moisture content, water absorption, thickness swelling, MOR, internal bond, and screw holding strength. The interaction between the densities factor and concentration of citric acid has a significant effect on thickness swelling and density. The physical and mechanical properties of particle boards which fulfill the JIS A 5908 2003 standard were density, moisture content, MOR, and screw holding strength. The durability of particleboard againts termites has a very strong level. The average values of termites mortality were 94% ~ 100%. The average of wood weight loss values were 9.61%~ 18.51%. The particle board made with a density 0.8 gr/cm3 and concentration of citric acid adhesive 30% achieved the highest values on physical properties, mechanical properties and durability to the termites Coptotermes curvignathus. Abstract

This study aims to estimate carbon stored in above ground at the Mempawah Mangrove Park (MMP) area of Mempawah District, the data used were mangrove planted in 2013. Full Enumeration was used in this study while collecting the data applied non destructive sampling method for the tree, its was a diameter of ≥ 5 cm. Based on the results of measurements and observations in the field directly, it had 63 of the total number of line which were done by all the areas of Mempawah Mangrove Park in Mempawah District. The result of this study reveals which has 2 (two) kinds of mangrove. They are Avicennia marina dan Rhizopora stylosa. Avicennia marina is kinds of mangrove that dominate with the total number of 35 individuals based on the tree level and 1404 individuals relating the stake level. Then, Rhizopora stylosa gets the stake level for two individuals so that the stand density is 379.21 /ha. The value of biomass in the MMP area is 7.16 tons C / ha and the carbon value in the MMP area is 3.37 tons C / ha.Keywords: Above Ground Biomass, Carbon, Mangrove ForestsPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menduga karbon tersimpan di atas permukaan tanah di kawasan Mempawah Mangrove Park (MMP) Kabupaten Mempawah, data yang digunakan yaitu data yang ditanam pada tahun 2013. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu pengamatan secara menyeluruh (full enumeration), sedangkan untuk mengumpulkan data di lapangan menggunakan metode non destructive sampling (pengukuran tanpa melakukan pemanenan) pada pohon yang berdiameter > 5 cm. Berdasarkan hasil dari pengukuran dan pengamatan secara langsung di lapangan dengan jumlah jalur sebanyak 63 yang dilakukan pada seluruh kawasan MMP. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat dua jenis mangrove yaitu jenis Avicennia mariana dan Rhizopora stylosa yang mendominasi pada kawasan MMP, dimana A. Mariana merupakan jenis yang mendominasi dengan jumlah 35 individu pada tingkat pohon dan 1.404 individu pada tingkat pancang, sedangkan untuk jenis R. Stylosa hanya terdapat pada tingkat pancang dengan jumlah 2 individu sehingga didapatlah kerapatan tegakan sebesar 379,21 ind/Ha. Nilai biomassa pada kawasan MMP sebesar 7,16 ton C/Ha dan nilai karbon pada kawasan MMP sebesar 3,37 ton C/Ha.Kata kunci : mangrove, Karbon, karbon tersimpan

Abstract

Aim of the study was to assess the suitability of rubber wood particles in the production of cement boards. This research was conducted at the woodworkshop of the Forestry Faculty of province Tanjungpura University and the Government Polytechnic Laboratory of Pontianak. Factors examined include the use of particles of different size, namely rough particle (a1), medium particle (a2) and soft particle (a3), and using different cement qualities namely 100 % ( b1), 125 % ( b2) and 150 % ( b3). The properties of cement board particles tested included the physic properties (water quality and density) and mechanic properties (firmness of static refraction (MOR) and thickness reduction caused by 3 kg / cm surface pressure). The test result were compared to the standard of DIN 1101. The gathered data were analyzed using the factorial trial method with complete random model (RAL) and 3 (three) repetitions. The best results were adieved by combining soft particles with 150 % cement quality. The use of roughs Particles and 125 % cement quality produced the best density value. while the use of soft particles and 150 % cement quality produced best results regarding water quality, firmness of static refraction (MOR) and thickness reduction caused by 3 kg / cm surface pressure. Abstract

Some of peatland in west borneo has been used for development of Industrial Plants Forests (IPF). One of those plants is Eucalyptus pellita. Aim of this research is determine the AMF (Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi) association on E. pellita plants in the peatland area of PT. Kalimantan Subur Permai. Method of the research is spores isolation through wet process screening in gradually, coloring root, characteristics of spores in genus level and calculate the percentage of root infection.The result research show 6 species founded of AMF spores from one genus of Glomus and average percentage of root infection is 20% 36%.
