Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Project-Based Learning (PBL) model on the learning outcomes of students in the General Journal subject for grade X Accounting and Financial Institution program at SMK Negeri 1 Pematangsiantar. The background of this research is based on the low learning outcomes of students, which have not met the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM), caused by conventional teaching methods that are less varied and limited active involvement from students during the learning process. This research employs a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design using a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design approach. The sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class taught using the Project-Based Learning model, and a control class taught using conventional methods. The instrument used was a 35-item multiple-choice test that had been validated and tested for reliability. Data analysis was performed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test due to the non-normal distribution of data as determined by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk normality tests. The results revealed a significant increase in learning outcomes for the experimental class compared to the control class. The average pretest and posttest scores of the experimental class increased from 43.71 to 74.29, while the control class scores increased from 38.00 to 66.43. Wilcoxon test results showed a significance value of p = 0.000 (<0.05) for both classes, indicating that the improvement in learning outcomes was statistically significant. This demonstrates that the implementation of the Project-Based Learning model effectively enhances students’ conceptual understanding and skills in the General Journal subject. The study concludes that Project-Based Learning has a significant positive effect on improving student learning outcomes. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers and schools consistently implement this model in teaching to create a more active, creative, and enjoyable learning environment, as well as to sustainably improve student achievement. Furthermore, this study can serve as a reference for future research development in vocational learning or other subjects relevant to workforce demands.

Abstract

This study examines the efforts of the Office of Communication, Informatics, Encryption, and Statistics of Central Kalimantan Province in fostering and strengthening Community Information Groups (Kelompok Informasi Masyarakat/KIM) as community-based public communication partners. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, supported by in-depth interviews with key informants namely a Senior Public Relations Officer of the Office of Communication, Informatics, Encryption, and Statistics of Central Kalimantan Province and a KIM activist in Central Kalimantan, the Chairperson of KIM Bintang Jaya Itah this research explores how the provincial government carries out capacity building, institutional development, and improvements in digital infrastructure to enhance KIM performance in disseminating public information. The findings show that government support is manifested through structured training in public communication, digital literacy, and citizen journalism; continuous mentoring in the use of platforms such as kim.id and KIM Digital; and the implementation of tiered coordination involving KIM networks at the provincial, district, sub-district, and village levels. Diskominfosantik has institutional duties and functions in the fields of public communication, informatics, and information dissemination. KIM is one of the strategic programs that serves as an instrument for community-based information empowerment, making this topic relevant to the role of government institutions. Studies related to KIM in Central Kalimantan are still relatively limited; therefore, this research provides a new contribution in the context of developing community information institutions at the regional level. Although various initiatives have been implemented, several challenges remain, such as limited community management capacity among KIM implementers, uneven digital skills, and a relatively high dependence on government facilitation to support operational activities. This study shows that effective collaboration and role-sharing in producing content relevant to local needs are essential. The Office of Communication, Informatics, Encryption, and Statistics of Central Kalimantan Province acts not only as a regulator but also as a facilitator, mentor, and community empowerer in the field of information.Overall, this study concludes that government efforts through the Office of Communication, Informatics, Encryption, and Statistics of Central Kalimantan Province in the development of Community Information Groups (KIM) fall into the effective category and encourage KIM to be more active in producing and disseminating information. In the era of hoaxes and disinformation, the government requires trustworthy community-based information channels, and KIM represents one such solution; however, there are still KIMs that remain inactive in certain regions or districts and therefore require further attention and guidance.

Abstract

Community participation is a crucial factor in the success of sustainable forest management, particularly within the framework of social forestry. Forest Farmer Groups (Kelompok Tani Hutan/KTH), as key actors at the site level, require effective facilitation to actively engage in forest management activities. In this context, forestry extension officers play a strategic role as intermediaries between government policies and local communities. This study aims to analyze the communication strategies employed by forestry extension officers to enhance the participation of Forest Farmer Groups at the Forestry Service of Central Kalimantan Province through the Barito Tengah Forest Management Unit (UPT KPHP Barito Tengah) in North Barito Regency. This research adopts a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with forestry extension officers as research informants. The data were analyzed descriptively through thematic categorization focusing on the role of extension officers, communication methods and media, socio-cultural adaptation, dialogic interaction, and communication barriers in forestry extension activities. The findings indicate that the communication strategies applied by forestry extension officers are persuasive, participatory, and context-based. Interpersonal communication through face-to-face interactions and field-based mentoring is prioritized, while communication styles are adjusted to local social and cultural conditions. Two-way dialogue and discussion facilitate a process of meaning construction between extension officers and Forest Farmer Group members, leading to improved understanding, motivation, and behavioral change in forest management practices. These communication strategies contribute positively to increasing the participation of Forest Farmer Groups and support the implementation of social forestry policies as well as sustainable forest management objectives.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of parental support and the school environment on student learning outcomes in Social Studies for Grade VIII at the UPTD of SMP Negeri 2 Pematangsiantar. This study was quantitative and employed a survey method. The population was 349 students, with a sample size of 66 students drawn using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS. The results showed that (1) parental support had a positive and significant effect on student learning outcomes, (2) the school environment had a positive and significant effect on student learning outcomes, and (3) parental support and the school environment simultaneously had a positive and significant effect on student learning outcomes in Social Studies. The coefficient of determination indicates that both independent variables contribute significantly to improving student learning outcomes. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the better the support from parents and the school environment, the higher the student learning outcomes. Therefore, collaboration between schools and parents needs to be continuously improved to create a conducive learning environment both at home and at school

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of learning discipline on students’ academic achievement. The research instruments used were a learning discipline questionnaire and an academic achievement questionnaire, both of which had been tested for validity and reliability with satisfactory results. The normality test using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov method indicated that the data were normally distributed, with a significance value of 0.200 greater than 0.05. Simple linear regression analysis produced the equation Y = 60.135 + 0.258X, which demonstrates a positive relationship between learning discipline and academic achievement. The regression significance test showed that the t-value of 11.417 was greater than the t-table value of 1.67203 at a 5% significance level, and the significance value of 0.002 was less than 0.05, indicating that learning discipline has a positive and significant effect on academic achievement. The coefficient of determination (R Square) was 0.150, meaning that learning discipline contributed 15% to academic achievement, while the remaining 85% was influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study.
