Abstract

Desalination is a method for converting sea air into fresh air. One of the eco-friendly and energy saving method is to use carbon electrodes with capacitive principles. A fabricated carbon electrode using a mixture of activated carbon and PVA uses ratio composition 20:1. The mixture of the material is printed on a graphite sheet 80 x 60 x 0.5 mm3. The desalination process takes 2 cycles of adsorption and desorption. The adsorption cycle is a cycle when electrode is fed. The ions will be attracted to the electrode and the salt in the air will be reduced. While desorption cycle is the cycle when the electrode voltage is detached and the ions adhered on adsorption cycle will be detached. The result of TDS which is used as the sample water salt measurement shows that the reduction of TDS value is 32,5% from the formerly condition. The temperature measurement of water sample during desalination process shows that the temperature does not have any changing.

Abstract

In order to improve the quality of Indonesian seamen then sought an increase in the quality of maritime education and training institutions. Appropriate setting minimum standards of education and training provider institutions sailors, the assessment carried out on 4 components which includes the Organizational and Staff Recources (OS), Infra-provision Teaching Facilities (ITF), Competence Educationand Training (Ed), and the Equipment and Teaching Materials (Eq). Four components are part of the Joint Decree of the Minister of Communications, Minister of National Education and Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration No. KM. 41 Tahun 2003-5/U/KB/2003-Kep.208A/MEN/2003. This study aims to determine the policy Implementation Joint Decree (SKB) 3 Minister of the PDP in UHT Nautical Studies Program by identifying the determinants of success or failure. This study uses a model of policy implementation analysis of Daniel A. Mazmanian and Paul A. Sabatier (1983), which suggests problems that may arise in the implementation of quality standards of seafarer Indonesian system, the structure of law and non law, and the stages in the implementation process itself. The results showed that the implementation of SKB 3 Minister has not done well. This was due to technical problems, including differences in standard time courses, as well as faculty and staff qualification mismatch existing laboratory with the required qualifications and lack of support facilities in the form of equipment and laboratory equipment. From the results of this study concluded that the limited allocation of financial resources is the main factor triggering the emergence of the above problems. To overcome this problem, the necessary management of resources especially financial resources to be more focused on the procurement of educational equipment and a gradual and continuous training and improvement and adjustment of the academic qualifications of teaching staff.

Abstract

This research was conducted at PT. Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines Surabaya (PT. SPIL), which is one of the national private shipping companies that play a role in the advancement of sea transportation in Indonesia. Crew ship is very important role in the progress of sea transport, especially the seafarers both inside and outside the country is necessary even to the lack of sailors, therefore the management of shipping companies should really pay attention to the welfare of the crew so the ship crew satisfied and comfortable working at PT. SPIL. This study aims to determine the influence seaworthiness and compensation system on job satisfaction crew on the ship owned by PT. Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines Surabaya. This research is quantitative. This research begins with sample determination then spread quisioner to 327 respondents in can statistic calculation with t test of variable of ship seaworthiness (X1), compensation system variable (X2) independently affect to (Y) job satisfaction. Variable X1 has significant effect, it is seen in the result of questionnaire about maritime shipiness need to be improved that is on the ship safety equipment of ship's crew. Safety tools must be in a ready-made state, which will be used at any time in case of emergency (fire on board, sinking ship, etc.). For variable X2 about the compensation system has an effect on the job satisfaction of the crew. With a decent wage and able to meet basic family needs it will be a major factor of job satisfaction. And based on the F test it is known that the velocity variable of the ship and the compensation system together affect the job satisfaction, F value counted 213,775 > F table 2,649. Based on the regression equation, it can be seen that the constant of 2,101 although without any change from X variable (ship capability and compensation system) will still increase by 2,101 but it is expected that ship velocity variable will be increased by 0,590 and compensation system is 0,274. PT. SPIL should maintain and even increase the velocity of the vessel and the compensation system for increased job satisfaction. Of the two variables, the variable that has the strongest influence on job satisfaction is the maritime boundary of the vessel, so it can be advisable to emphasize on the maritime boundary of the vessel. Capacity ship here in the sense of improving the safety system of the voyage. Due to the good sail safety system, the sailor's work satisfaction is increasing, guaranteed life safety on board during the voyage.

Abstract

Inter- regional access by sea transportation is not yet optimal. The cause of the unoptimality of sea transportation are the imbalance cargo between Eastern Indonesia and Western Indonesia and also the port infrastructures. This research aims to calculate connectivity index in Maluku Archipelago. Connectivity index can be represented by degree connectivity and port accesibility index. Degree connectivity is connectivity degree between the ports. Port accesibility index is a degree that represented the capacity of port. Then Granger causality are applied to know a region is “Transport Follow the Trade”or “Trade follow the transport”. Then find the way to increase the connectivity index. The results of the research are the highest connectivity index is Sorong Port. Sorong port has result 9 for container cargo and 18 for general cargo. The highest accesibility index are Jayapura port (container cargo) and Sorong Port (general cargo) with index value is 1. Granger causality test. Granger causality test results show "Transport Follow The Trade" in West Papua and Papua Province with probabilities of 0.86 and 0.27 respectively on container cargo, 0.50 and 0.37 on general cargo. "Transport Promote The Trade" is suitable in the Province of North Maluku and Maluku with probabilities of 0.65 and 0.43 respectively on container cargo 0.85 and 0.52 on the general cargo. At the rate of GDP of 3% per year, the accessibility of container loading in Jayapura Port increased 1.6% to 505 TEUs / day, and the growth rate of GDP in Maluku Province by 5% per year accessibility of cargo general cargo at Ambon Port increased 12% or 752 tons / day.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the salt importing countries, although most of its territory is the sea. The current pattern of salt distribution needs to be reviewed, since in reality the production of salt farmers is abundant, but not yet fully absorbed by the salt processing companies. In addition there is a considerable price disparity in salt price between producer and consumer areas. Therefore, in this study we analyze two conditions, which include the salt ditribution pattern in upstream and downstream. Where the upstream area is from the salt producer areas in Madura, there are Bangkalan, Sampang, Pamekasan, and Sumenep to the Salt Processing Factory (PPG). While the downstream area is from the Salt Processing Factory (PPG) to the consumer areas in Jakarta and Denpasar. By using the optimum salt distribution and transportation patterns by the optimization model, there is a decrease in shipping cost per year for each PPG when compared to the current conditions. From PPG Gresik, the cost can be reduced by 26.57% or 7.9 Billion annually, from PPG Surabaya can be reduced by 24.33% or by 7.8 Billion per year and from PPG Sidoarjo can be reduced 17.20% or by 10, 2 billion per year. Thus the price of salt in Jakarta can be decreased by 12% and in Denpasar can be decreased by 8%.

Abstract

This study aims to prove and analyze the influence of Transformational Leadership and Innovation to the Orientation of Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Performance in Surabaya City. The population in this study were all primary cooperatives in Surabaya city which amounted to 219 cooperatives with criteria: (a) Has minimum membership of 100 people, (b) Active and operates RAT 3 consecutive years, (c) Owns more than two units business, (d) Having assets above 1 Billion. The sample in this research is 142 cooperatives. The data used in this study is the primary data sourced from the questionnaire. Data analysis and hypothesis test in this research using Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results showed that the variables of Transformational Leadership and Innovation have a significant effect on the Orientation of Entrepreneurship. Transformational and Innovation Leadership Variables have no significant effect on Cooperative Performance in Surabaya City. Orientation of Entrepreneurship has a significant effect on Cooperative Performance in Surabaya City.
