Abstract

This paper describes interfaith tahlilan that occurred in two areas, namely Ngawen, Muntilan, Magelang and Babadan, Sleman, Yogyakarta. As a death rite, interfaith tahlilan is held by Catholics at their homes to pray for their families who have died. By involving various levels of society in Ngawen and Babadan, both Muslim and Catholic, this interfaith tahlilan was led by Islamic leaders in the two areas. In the process, interfaith tahlilan is accepted as a form of religious accommodation by Muslims, but on the other hand it becomes a separate discourse whether tahlilan to pray for Catholics is commonly carried out and can be granted by Allah. To find out the portrait of the dynamics of cross-faith tahlilan, there are three basic questions posed in this paper, namely, first, what is meant by interfaith tahlilan? Why is interfaith tahlilan carried out by Catholics and involves Muslims? How is the discursive space carried out by Muslim actors so that interfaith tahlilan can be carried out? To analyze the three questions, the author uses the anthropological theory of death and traditional discourse to describe the facts that occur in the field. Therefore, to find out the facts on the ground, methodologically the author uses interviews with key figures and conducts Focus Group Discussions to obtain broad views from the residents of Ngawen Magelang and Babadan Yogyakarta. From the results of our study, the authors argue that tahlilan carried out by the Ngawen and Babadan peoples is motivated by an awareness of inclusiveness in carrying out religious practices in the midst of diversity while at the same time promoting the spirit of citizenship as an anthropological building in society.

Abstract

Social dynamic development along with the rapid change of science and technology has aroused varied social religious problems that cannot be accommodated by sharia rule contained in Al-Qur’an and Hadith. Thus, the ijtihad of Islamic scholars is the solution to these matters.   In Indonesia, a legal institution that serves as a place for Islamic scholars’ doing ijtihad to overcome such problems is known as Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI). It was founded on 26 July 1975 in Jakarta, and has made many fatwas which must be previously addressed in fatwa commission meeting. In other words, the fatwas must be discussed with all members of MUI.  In line with the modernity of information technology, the institution may formulate fatwas through online media in which the members of MUI need not gather in a particular place to determine fatwas as they have since 1975 up to now. Therefore, this research aims to propose the usage of internet applications that may be employed by MUI in formulating fatwas as solution to present social problems.

Abstract

When conducting intrusion with other parties in everyday life, humans always engage in communication activities. In addition to needing communication with fellow creatures, humans also have communication needs with the Creator, namely Allah SWT. This study aims to review the study of prayer and worship as transcendental communication between humans and God from the perspective of Harold Lasswell. This research used the library research method. Any data supporting this study are reviewed descriptively. This research shows that the model of transcendental communication between man and God in the prayer service of Harold Lasswell's perspective can be summed up as follows: First, the communicator. In prayer activities, every Muslim who establishes salat is a communicator who is carrying out transcendental communication activities. Second, Message. Readings are included in every movement of prayer, whether the pillars or the sunnah. These readings are communication messages from Allah SWT's servants. Third, Media. In prayer activities, the medium is the prayer movement itself. Prayer activities that begin with takbir and close with greetings are gestures that can be referred to as channels. Fourth, communicants. In prayer activities, the communicant is Allah SWT; God Almighty hears all the communication messages conveyed by His servants throughout the universe. Fifth, Effect. In the context of prayer worship, the effect is how the reply or reward given by Allah SWT as a communicant in the process of transcendental communication in prayer worship is received. People of faith deserve to be convinced or believe wholeheartedly that every good deed, such as prayer service, must get a good reward on the side of Allah SWT.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the strategy or method used to build the independence of prayer for children with disabilities and the inhibiting factors and supporting factors for the implementation of religious guidance and counseling to build the independence of prayer for children with disabilities. The type of research used is descriptive-qualitative, with data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. The primary data sources in this study were observations and interviews with principals, classroom teachers, and parents of students. Furthermore, secondary data sources in this study were obtained through documentation in the form of photos of student activities and books or literature related to religious guidance strategies and children with disabilities in schools. Data analysis in this study includes data reduction, data display, and verification of data findings, as well as drawing research conclusions. Furthermore, checking the validity of the data through source triangulation and technique triangulation The results showed that the strategy of religious guidance and counseling in building the independence of prayer for children with disabilities that was applied by teachers in schools did not have a special strategy and that in its implementation it followed the abilities of students and was carried out flexibly. In religious guidance and counseling for children with disabilities, the classroom teacher uses the lecture method, the demonstration method, and individual learning methods. Then, the inhibiting factors in building the independence of prayer for children with disabilities are the lack of teachers and the disturbances that students have. While the supporting factors are adequate facilities and infrastructure and support from parents and guardians of students, no less important is the enthusiasm of children to learn.

Abstract

The internet and social media have changed people's lifestyles. One form of change is the search for religious references through the internet. Before the internet and massive social media were used, Kyai or Tuan Guru became the main reference and source of religious knowledge. The search for religious knowledge then shifted to virtual spaces so that the religious authority of the messenger was not a priority. This study examines the communication performance of millennial students on social media. The data collection method is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were four Islamic boarding schools, namely Sirajul Huda, Darul Falah, Nurul Haramain and Nurul Hakim Islamic boarding schools. The results of this study indicate that the digital da'wah strategy carried out by Islamic boarding schools in Lombok pays attention to four things, namely the message of da'wah (content), the target of da'wah (audience), da'wah channels (social media), and preachers of da'wah (communicators). These four elements are then framed in an interesting and creative program content on social media so that da'wah is not only related to monotonous lectures, but can be through short films, short videos, podcasts and others.
