Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the dynamics of character development among santri through the Al-Qur'an tahfidz program at the Darul Qur'an Bidayatul Hidayah Dormitory in Mojokerto. Methodology/approach: This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving santri, dormitory wardens, and parents. Findings: The tahfidz program is implemented through routine memorization submission (setoran) and a disciplined daily schedule. The continuous memorization process gradually cultivates values of independence, responsibility, and self-control among santri. Daily interaction with Qur'anic verses supports the development of inner peace, patience, and mental resilience. Character formation is further reinforced by the exemplary conduct of dormitory wardens and a periodic evaluation system that actively involves parents. Nevertheless, internal factors such as insufficient self-motivation and external factors including negative peer influence were identified as key challenges in the character development process. Practical implications: This study offers a replicable model for Islamic boarding schools and educational institutions in designing structured, tahfidz-based character education programs. Originality/value: This study contributes to the literature on character education by examining the specific dynamics through which a tahfidz program shapes santri personality within a dormitory environment.

Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to develop and validate interactive learning media based on Google Sites for teaching Sunnah Prayers (Sholat Sunnah) to eighth-grade students. Methodology/Approach: The development follows the systematic stages of the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model, with validation limited to expert assessment by 2 media experts and 2 Islamic Religious Education material experts. The validity and feasibility of the media were tested through structured expert evaluation using a 5-point Likert scale. Findings: The validation results from media experts showed a score of 86% (Feasible category), while the assessment from material experts obtained 98% (Very Feasible category). The developed media successfully integrates multimedia elements including text, images, videos, and interactive quizzes that are easily accessible to students. Practical Implications: The learning media is declared feasible for use in PAI instruction. However, classroom implementation stages have not yet been conducted; evaluation consists of revisions based on expert feedback. Originality/Value: This digital innovation offers a specific and structured solution for teaching Sunnah Prayers to Grade VIII students, potentially improving student motivation, understanding, and learning independence in Islamic Religious Education while addressing modern educational challenges.

Abstract

Research Objective: This study aims to identify the types of risks and analyze the implementation of risk management in gold pawn financing at Pegadaian Syariah Simpang Benteng Payakumbuh. Methods/Approach: This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. The study was conducted at the Simpang Benteng Payakumbuh Sharia Service Unit (UPS), involving three key informants: an appraiser (murtahin) and administrative staff directly involved in financing operations. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data credibility was tested through triangulation of sources and methods. Results: The study shows that gold pawn financing faces several types of risks, namely credit risk, market risk, operational risk, liquidity risk, and reputation risk. Risk management is implemented through systematic risk identification, measurement, management, and control. These practices play a role in maintaining operational stability and minimizing potential losses in financing activities. Practical Implications: These findings demonstrate the importance of implementing structured risk management in enhancing operational prudence and financing management in Islamic financial institutions. Originality/Novelty: This research provides empirical evidence on risk management practices in gold pawn financing within the context of Islamic service units at the operational level, a topic that has been limited in previous studies, particularly at the service unit (UPS) level.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to comparatively analyze Islamic education policies in Indonesia and Egypt by examining their historical, political, institutional, curricular aspects, and challenges. Methodology/approach: This research employs a qualitative literature study with a comparative approach, focusing on differences and similarities between Islamic education policies in Indonesia and Egypt. Data sources are obtained from relevant academic journal articles, and data are analyzed using content analysis techniques. Findings: The findings indicate that Islamic education in Indonesia has evolved from the traditional pesantren and madrasah systems, which have subsequently been integrated into the national education system under the coordination of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The Indonesian system is characterized by decentralization, inclusivity, and a balanced integration of religious and general knowledge, reflecting the country’s socio-cultural context. In contrast, Islamic education in Egypt is highly institutionalized and centralized through Al-Azhar University, which maintains a long historical continuity and emphasizes the study of turats (classical Islamic heritage) and classical scholarly authority. These differences reflect two contemporary models of Islamic education: one that is open and adaptive to modern developments, and another that is strong in preserving tradition and classical scholarly authority. Practical implications: Indonesia can enhance the quality of Islamic education through the integration of religious and general curricula, the improvement of teacher competencies, and international collaboration with Egypt. Originality/value: The novelty of this study lies in the typology of adaptive-integrative and authoritative-traditional models. This typology theoretically explains the dynamics between adapting to modernity and preserving classical scholarly traditions.
