Abstract

Comprehensive midwifery care or Continuity of Care is a health service that is provided comprehensively and continuously starting from pregnancy, labor, postpartum, newborns, to family planning. The goal of this care is to improve the quality of midwifery services by focusing on helping mothers give birth in the most minimal way possible, as well as monitoring the physical, psychological, spiritual, and social health of the mother and her family. The pregnancy process begins with the meeting of the egg and sperm cells in the uterus, followed by the process of nidation and implantation of the embryo, and develops until the fetus is ready to be born, the pregnancy lasts for 40 weeks. Mrs. S G3P2A0 with a gestation of 38-40 weeks, with vital signs within normal limits and the general condition of the mother is normal. Labor is the process of releasing a full-term baby from the uterus, followed by the release of the placenta and amniotic membranes from the mother's body through the birth canal, Mrs. S gave birth on January 22, 2025 at 20.50 WITA with the condition of the mother and baby in good condition. A newborn is a child aged between 0 and 28 days, this period is the period where the baby has the highest risk of death, Mrs. S was born spontaneously and immediately cried without any abnormalities with a weight of 2690 grams, a body length of 45 cm. The postpartum period is a recovery period that occurs after giving birth and lasts for 40 days, Mrs. S made 2 postpartum visits at Masyita Hospital and 1 home visit at Jl. Angkasa IV Hall 2 with the condition of the mother and baby in good condition and vital signs within normal limits. Family planning aims to help married couples regulate the spacing between pregnancies and prevent unwanted pregnancies, but Mrs. S is willing to use a 1-month injection of contraception. Abstract

Maternal Globally and nationally, maternal mortality rate and infant mortality rate remain major public health concerns. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 target is to reduce MMR to below 70 per 100,000 live births and IMR to below 12 per 1,000 live births. The periods of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, newborn care, and family planning services are critical stages with high risk for morbidity and mortality. Therefore, comprehensive and continuous midwifery care is essential. This study aimed to implement comprehensive midwifery care for Mrs. “H” at RSIA Masyita Makassar, covering pregnancy, labor, postpartum, newborn care, and family planning services. The care was provided using Varney’s 7-step midwifery management process and documented using the SOAP format. Data were collected through interviews, physical examinations, observation, supporting examinations, and documentation studies. The results showed that Mrs. “H”, G5P4A0 with a gestational age of 38 weeks and 6 days, attended seven antenatal visits without any complaints or danger signs. The delivery occurred normally, and the baby was born spontaneously in good condition. The postpartum period was physiological, with three postnatal visits. At the end of the care, family planning counseling was provided, and the mother chose the implant contraceptive method. This care is expected to enhance maternal understanding of early complication detection and assist students in developing clinical skills in providing comprehensive midwifery services.

Abstract

Stunting remains an important public health concern in Indonesia. In North Bengkulu, the prevalence increased from 20.7% in 2021 to 22.8% in 2022. Maternal conditions during pregnancy and postnatal characteristics are assumed to contribute to stunting among toddlers. This study examined the association between maternal and postnatal factors and stunting among toddlers in the working area of Lubuk Durian Community Health Center, North Bengkulu. A quantitative cross-sectional design was applied. The sample included 209 children aged 3-5 years, selected using purposive sampling. Data were obtained through interviews, anthropometric measurements, and a review of maternal and child health books. The data were analyzed using chi-square tests and multiple logistic regression. The prevalence of stunting was 37.8%. Bivariate analysis demonstrated significant associations between a history of chronic energy deficiency (p=0,000), maternal anemia (p=0,000), low birth weight (p=0,000), and short birth length (p=0,000) and stunting. Multivariate analysis identified a history of chronic energy deficiency as the strongest factor (OR=11,81; 95%CI=4,61-30,22). Maternal factors, namely chronic energy deficiency and anemia, as well as postnatal factors, including low birth weight and short birth length, were associated with stunting, with chronic energy deficiency being the most dominant determinant. Strengthening nutritional programs for pregnant women, early nutritional screening, and continuous nutrition education are required to prevent stunting

Abstract

Nausea occurs due to increased estrogen and human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) levels in the blood, which trigger vomiting. The psychological effects of estrogen may originate from the central nervous system, resulting in gastric emptying. One way to manage nausea and vomiting and reduce anxiety levels is through non-pharmacological therapy, namely lemon aromatherapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of lemon aromatherapy (lemon citrus) in reducing nausea and vomiting and reducing anxiety levels in pregnant women using a diffuser or vaporizing essential oils through an electric steam tube. The research method used is Quasi Experiment through One Group Pre Test and Post Test approach with a sample of 30 pregnant women in the first trimester. The results of the study using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed changes in the intensity of nausea and vomiting using the PUQE score experienced a decrease in the Pre Test Mean value of 7.27 to the Post Test Mean value of 6.30 with a p value of 0.01, at the level of anxiety using the DASS21 score the Pre Test Mean value of 9.63 decreased to the Post Test Mean value of 7.67 with a p value of 0.001. Based on the statistical test, it can be concluded that lemon aromatherapy has an effect on reducing the intensity of nausea and vomiting and anxiety levels in pregnant women.

Abstract

Premarital sexuality among adolescents is a significant issue that significantly impacts the reproductive health, psychology, and social well-being of young girls. The research aimed to assess the effect of reproductive health education on improving knowledge and changing attitudes among female students at SMK Negeri 1 Limboto. The study utilized a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test control group design, a population of 84 people, and involved a sample of 32 students divided into 16 intervention and 16 control groups. The results of the Mann-Whitney test showed a p-value of 0,000 for knowledge, which was less than p < 0,05, indicating a significant difference in the average scores of the intervention group regarding the increase in knowledge. Similarly, for attitudes, there was a significant difference (p = 0,000), also less than p < 0,05, in both the knowledge and attitude groups. In conclusion, the study found that reproductive health education had a significant impact on the knowledge and attitudes of adolescent girls about premarital sexuality at SMK Negeri 1 Limboto

Abstract

The activity of pregnant women in participating in pregnancy exercises regularly is influenced by family involvement from the beginning of pregnancy. Family support helps mothers cope with various physical and emotional changes during pregnancy. Therefore, at least one pregnancy exercise meeting accompanied by family is recommended. The role of the family is very important, because pregnant women who receive attention and support tend to experience fewer emotional and physical disorders, adapt more easily, and have a lower risk of labor complications. This study is a quantitative study using a cross-sectional approach, where researchers sought the relationship between husband's support and family support with the activity of participating in pregnancy exercises at the Tamalanrea Jaya Community Health Center. The study population was all pregnant women in the second-third trimester at the Tamalanrea Jaya Community Health Center, totaling 35 pregnant women with a total sampling technique. Based on the results of the chi-square test, there is a relationship between husband's support (p-value = 0,008 <α = 0,05) and family support (p-value = 0,018 <α = 0,05) with the activity of participating in pregnancy exercises at the UPT Tamalanrea Jaya Community Health Center
