Abstract

Life review therapy is a modality therapy by remembering past events that can be used to improve cognitive function abilities experienced by the elderly. This study aims to determine the effect of life review therapy on the cognitive functioning abilities of the elderly in the Padangloang village area, Bulukumba Regency. This study used a pre-experimental research design with a one-group pre-test and post-test design approach. Sampling in this study used purposive sampling with a sample size of 69 respondents. The data collection instrument in this study was the measurement of cognitive function using the MMSE and standard operating procedures for life review therapy. The results of this study indicate that based on the results of the Wilcoxon signed rank test statistical test on the value of cognitive function before and after being given life review therapy, it obtained a significant value p = 0.000 <0.05, meaning that there was a significant effect between life review therapy on the cognitive function of the elderly. So it can be concluded that in this study there was an effect of life review therapy on the cognitive functioning abilities of the elderly in the Padangloang village area, Bulukumba Regency.

Abstract

Education is an important process to increase children's potential. The problem currently faced in the world of education is that teaching staff strive to create efficient teaching methods a limited duration and hope that students are able to achieve commensurate learning outcomes. One of the innovations implemented to achieve maximum duration is implementing a full day school system in schools. However, this system requires physical and mental preparation. Because if they are not prepared, students will certainly become bored and even experience stress. This research aims to determine the description of students' stress levels using the full day school learning system at SMA Negeri 3 Makassar. The research design used is descriptive quantitative with a crosssectional approach. Sample determination was carried out using a purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 79 students in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research instrument is the DASS-45 questionnaire which was modified and distributed via WhatsApp in the form of a Goggle Form. The results of the research showed that the description of the stress level of students using the full day school learning system at SMA Negeri 3 Makassar was in the moderate stress level category as many as 22 students (27.8%) and the statement most frequently responded by students was the statement "I find it difficult to relax because piling up assignments given by the teacher" with the answer "very often" as many as 37 students (46.8%). The conclusion of this research is a description of the stress level of students using the full day school learning system in the moderate stress category. Thus, schools are expected to pay attention to the effectiveness of implementing the full day school system and the condition of students both physically and psychologically. So that schools can respond quickly to changes in students' mental and emotional conditions that can trigger stress.

Abstract

Gadgets are sophisticated tools with a variety of applications that can provide news media, social networks, interests, and even entertainment. Pre-primary school age should not be given independently. The use of applications that are not age-appropriate will have a negative impact. This study aims to determine the effect of using gadgets on the level of learning focus at UPT SD Negeri 4 Bila, Sidenreng Rappang Regency. The research design in this study was pre-experimental with one group pretest and posttest without control approaches. The research population is 82 people and the sample is taken using the total sampling method. This study used an independent t-text statistical test with a significance level of ρ< (α=0.005). The results showed that there was an effect of using gadgets on the level of focus on children's learning at UPT SD Negeri 4 Bila, Sidenreng Rappang Regency (ρ=0.040). The conclusion from this study is that there is an effect of using gadgets on the level of focus on children's learning at UPT SD Negeri 4 Bila, Sidenreng Rappang Regency. Therefore, through this study students are advised not to use gadgets frequently because it can reduce the level of focus on learning.

Abstract

According to the 2018 World Health Organization (WHO), adolescents are defined as those aged 10-19 years. Adolescence in young women is marked by the onset of menstruation. However, many young women experience problems during menstruation, such as dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea is abdominal pain caused by uterine contractions that occur before and during menstruation. There are two types of dysmenorrhea treatment, namely non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatment. One of the nonpharmacological treatments is cutaneous stimulus therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of cutaneous stimulation therapy using olive oil on dysmenorrhea in nursing students at the Indonesian Muslim University. This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest and post-test. Sampling using the purposive sampling technique included as many as 30 female students who met the inclusion criteria and experienced primary dysmenorrhea. This study used the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) pain scale. The results of this study found that before cutaneous stimulation therapy was administered, most female students experienced moderate pain levels (46.7%), and after the therapy was administered, most female students experienced mild pain levels (56.7%). The results of the statistical test using the paired T-test (p ≤ 0.05) with a p-value of 0.000 indicate that the difference is significant, so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. The conclusion in this study is that there is an effect of cutaneous stimulus therapy using olive oil on dysmenorrhea in nursing students at the Indonesian Muslim University. It is expected that female students can apply cutaneous stimuli every menstrual cycle so that the intensity of dysmenorrhea can be reduced.

Abstract

Coughing is caused by smoking, exposure to cigarette smoke, and polluted environments. One cough treatment is non-pharmacological therapy using traditional medicine. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), herbal medicine is used by up to 65% of the population in developed countries and 80% in developing countries. One area in Indonesia that still uses traditional medicine is Central Buton, Southeast Sulawesi. Knowledge is the result of knowing what has happened after someone feels an object. Without knowledge, a person has no basis for making decisions and determining actions to deal with problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between community knowledge and the use of traditional cough medicine in Mawasangka Village, Central Buton Regency. This study was a quantitative analytical study with a Cross Sectional design. The population of this study was all residents of Mawasangka Village who met the inclusion criteria, namely people who are currently or have consumed traditional cough medicine and are aged ≥17 years - 65 years. The sample determination used the Slovin formula with a Purposive Sampling technique and obtained 98 respondents. Data collection used a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability.  The data analysis used was univariate and bivariate, bivariate using logistic regression test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that from 98 respondents, 24.5% of the community had good knowledge, 67.3% had sufficient knowledge, and 8.2% had insufficient knowledge. The results of the logistic regression test obtained a knowledge value of p = 0.322 meaning the p value> 0.05. In conclusion, there is no relationship between community knowledge and the use of traditional cough medicine in Mawasangka Village, Central Buton Regency. The use of traditional cough medicine is not always related to a person's level of knowledge because many other factors are more dominant.

Abstract

Caring is an important part of nursing where Caring is the basis, but it is a problem that often occurs in the field, research found that recurring problems in hospitals are that the lack of caring and communication of nurses to patients and the little time nurses spend with patients. Caring efficacy is the confidence or ability of nurses to behave attentively and build good relationships with patients. Nursing professional students as prospective professional nurses have high caring efficacy so they can apply caring well when providing nursing care to patients. Nurses who cannot carry out caring behaviors well can also be caused by low self-efficacy. This study aims to see the caring efficacy of students in the nursing professional education study program where they are prospective professional nurses. The method in this study is descriptive with a total sampling technique of 32 respondents. The results showed that most of the respondents were female, aged 22 years and the caring efficacy of students in the nursing professional education study program was mostly moderate. It is hoped that students' caring efficacy will increase with increasing experience so that they can be more optimal in providing nursing services.
