Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital banking services has increased accessibility and convenience for users, including persons with disabilities. This study investigated the knowledge, perception, and attitudes of users with visual impairment towards e-banking systems in Oyo State, Nigeria. Specifically, the study examined the relationship among knowledge, perception, accessibility, and attitudes towards e-banking among users with visual impairment. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 47 respondents with visual impairment comprising 24 males and 23 females. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including mean, standard deviation, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). The findings revealed a significant relationship between accessibility and usability of e-banking platforms among users with visual impairment. The study further showed that although respondents demonstrated awareness of e-banking services, challenges relating to accessibility, screen-reader compatibility, digital literacy, and transaction security still affect effective utilization. The study recommends that financial institutions should organize specialized digital literacy training for users with visual impairment, improve compatibility of e-banking applications with screen readers and voice-assisted technologies, strengthen transaction security through audio-based verification and multi-factor authentication, and develop more inclusive and accessible e-banking platforms.

Abstract

Prosocial personality is a stable disposition to help others, grounded in empathy, moral reasoning, and social responsibility. Benign envy is a constructive emotion arising from upward social comparison that motivates self-improvement through emulating admired others without hostility. Unlike malicious envy, which is directed at pulling others down, benign envy involves admiration and aspiration. The empirical association between these constructs remains underexplored, particularly in non-Western contexts. This study examined their association in Indonesian undergraduates. A total of 348 students (70.7% female; aged 18–25 years) from 21 universities in Makassar participated in this cross-sectional correlational study. Prosocial personality was assessed using an Indonesian adaptation of the Prosocial Personality Battery, and benign envy was measured with a researcher-developed scale based on Lange and Crusius (2015). Spearman’s rank-order correlation was used for analysis. Results indicated a modest but statistically significant positive association between prosocial personality and benign envy (ρ = .177, p = .001). Benign envy was positively associated with sympathetic responsiveness (ρ = .268), empathic concern (ρ = .218), and moral reasoning (ρ = .151), and negatively associated with personal distress (ρ = −.146). Applying Bonferroni correction (α = .006), no significant associations were found for perspective taking, other-orientation, or social responsibility. These preliminary findings suggest that benign envy may be associated with the affective and moral components of prosocial personality, with implications for positive psychology and character education in collectivist settings.

Abstract

Assistive technology (AT) plays a crucial role in inclusive education by enhancing learning opportunities for pupils with learning disabilities and promoting their full participation in academic activities. This study investigated teachers’ perceptions of the availability and utilization of assistive technology in primary schools in Eti-Osa Local Government Area, Lagos State, Nigeria. Using an ex post facto descriptive research design, 191 teachers from public and private schools were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a validated questionnaire, the Assistive Technology in the Classroom (ATC), with a reliability coefficient of 0.87. The findings revealed that although several types of assistive technologies were available, they were insufficient to meet the learning needs of pupils with disabilities. Computers and iPads were the most commonly available and utilized tools, while specialized devices such as speech synthesizers, graphic organizers, and speech-to-text converters were notably absent. More than half of the teachers agreed that assistive technology enhances pupils' learning outcomes by compensating for cognitive deficits, thereby fostering classroom independence and task completion. However, barriers such as inadequate funding, lack of teacher training, and limited stakeholder commitment hinder the optimal use of these technologies. Addressing these challenges requires concerted efforts from government bodies, non-governmental organizations, and educational institutions. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on assistive technology in inclusive education and emphasizes the need for improved resource allocation and teacher training to bridge the educational gap for pupils with learning disabilities.

Abstract

Iraw Tengkayu is a cultural tradition preserved by the people of Tarakan City, North Kalimantan, that engages various ethnic groups in a shared ceremonial event. This tradition not only symbolizes cultural continuity but also serves as a psychosocial platform to foster interethnic solidarity and cultural resilience in a multicultural society. This study aims to examine the psychosocial processes embedded in the Iraw Tengkayu celebration, focusing on social connectedness, collective identity formation, intrinsic motivation, environmental consciousness, and the symbolic meanings constructed within the community. Employing a qualitative realist approach, data were collected through semi-structure interviews with four key informant organizers and local participants. Thematic analysis was employed to identify recurring patterns, with triangulation used to enhance the validity of the findings. The findings demonstrate that Iraw Tengkayu strengthens social cohesion through interethnic rituals, reinforces inclusive cultural identity, and promotes civic participation. The celebration also nurtures ecological awareness and sustains a collective memory rooted in gratitude and togetherness. Theoretically, this study contributes to understanding how cultural rituals function as psychosocial mechanisms for identity integration and solidarity in diverse settings. Practically, it emphasizes the importance of integrating cultural heritage into public policy to foster inclusive citizenship, social harmony, and environmental responsibility in multicultural contexts.

Abstract

Research on psychological violence in the workplace generally focuses on the emergence of specific disorders, and less often on a broader nosographic framework. This study, which investigates experiences of psychological violence at work, examines reactive disorders associated with such violence, the psychosocial risk factors involved, and the underlying psychological processes. Using a qualitative multiple-case study design with embedded clinical diagnostic assessment, data were collected through the french versions of the Leymann Inventory of Psychological Terror (LIPT), the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI), and a semi-structured interview guide. The findings suggest an association between workplace psychological violence and reactive anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and peritraumatic stress symptoms. These disorders were linked to experiences of separation, inter-individual professional conflicts, work-related stress issues, and verbal threats. The psychological processes involved include vulnerabilities related to negative perceptions of the work environment, anxiety-laden autobiographical memories, and intrusive re-experiencing of workplace violence. This study contributes to the literature by situating workplace psychological violence within a broader nosographic framework of reactive disorders rather than focusing on isolated diagnoses. However, the small sample size and case-study design limit the generalizability of the findings. The results underscore the need to establish independent and confidential listening and psychological support units to assist workers.

Abstract

Work From Anywhere (WFA) arrangements expand geographic flexibility but intensify reliance on information and communication technologies, potentially increasing technostress and undermining psychological well-being. This cross-sectional study examined the association between technostress and psychological well-being among WFA workers in Kalimantan, Indonesia. Using purposive sampling, 171 eligible digital/ICT workers (20–45 years; ≥3 months WFA; >40 hours/week; excluding interns and freelancers) completed an online survey (February–March 2025) including the Technostress Creators Scale and Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWBS). Participants were predominantly female (55.6%) and worked mainly in IT and digital marketing roles. Assumption checks supported normality and linearity. Simple linear regression showed that technostress was significantly and negatively associated with psychological well-being (B = −0.873, SE = 0.092, β = −0.591, t = −9.628, p < .001). The model was significant, F(1, 169) = 92.70, and explained 34.9% of the variance in psychological well-being (R² = .349; adjusted R² = .346). These findings suggest that technology-related demands constitute a substantial correlate of well-being in WFA settings and highlight the need for organizational practices that reduce techno-overload and techno-invasion, strengthen digital support, and protect recovery time. Future research should test mechanisms (e.g., strain and detachment) and incorporate key covariates using longitudinal or diary designs.

Abstract

Mathematics learning for learners with total blindness is constrained by limited access to symbolic and tactile representations. This study examined whether Braille Mathematical Code (BMC) instruction and Concrete Materials (CM) improve mathematics performance among primary-school learners with total blindness in Oyo State, Nigeria, and assessed gender and academic self-efficacy effects. Using a pretest–posttest control-group quasi-experimental design with three treatment conditions (BMC, CM, and conventional instruction), 45 learners with total blindness completed a six-week program (1-week pretest, 4-week intervention, 1-week posttest). Screening and measurement used a Teacher Observation Report, Snellen Chart, an Academic Self-Efficacy Scale, and a Braille-accessible Mathematics Performance Assessment. Posttest performance was analyzed with ANCOVA controlling for pretest scores, followed by Bonferroni-adjusted pairwise comparisons; gender differences were examined with an independent-samples t test, and self-efficacy categories with one-way ANOVA. ANCOVA showed a significant main effect of treatment on posttest performance, F(1,35)=12.46, p=.001, ηp²=.263, although Bonferroni pairwise contrasts were non-significant. Gender was not significant (t(43)=0.709, p=.484). Academic self-efficacy differed significantly across categories, F(2,42)=7.89, p=.001. Accessible instructional supports are associated with improved mathematics outcomes for learners with total blindness, and self-efficacy is a relevant learner factor. Future work should strengthen cluster-aware designs and fidelity reporting in schools.

Abstract

Climate change is a global issue that has a widespread impact on human life.  This impact is felt in almost all countries, including Indonesia, which has vulnerable geographical and geological conditions. Among the younger generation affected by climate change, adolescents occupy an important position as a vulnerable group with great potential in facing changing environmental dynamics. Based on this, this study aims to determine how adolescents on the outskirts of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) perceive climate change. This study uses a qualitative research design. Data were collected using the photovoice technique, in which photographs and adolescents’ explanations were analyzed in an integrated manner using thematic analysis. The results of this study indicate that adolescents on the outskirts of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) have reflective perceptions of climate change, which are formed through direct experience and supported by their cognitive development. Their environmental awareness not only encourages adaptive behavioral changes at the personal level, but also provides space for adolescents to express their opinions and propose solutions to environmental problems around them.

Abstract

Intergenerational trauma has been recognized as a significant psychological factor affecting mental health outcomes across generations. This study examined the influence of intergenerational trauma and family relationship on the mental well-being of young adults in Indonesia. A total of 103 participants were recruited through convenience sampling and completed the Indonesian-adapted versions of the Historical Intergenerational Trauma Transmission Questionnaire (HITT-Q), the General Functioning of Family scale, and the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (WEMWBS). Results from multiple linear regression analysis indicated that the overall regression model was statistically significant , F(2, 100) = 29.36, p < .001. However, only intergenerational trauma had a significant independent effect (B = –0.18, p < .001), suggesting that higher levels of inherited trauma were associated with lower mental wellbeing. Family functioning did not show a significant independent effect (B = 0.05, p = .739). Descriptive analysis also revealed that 77.7% of participants were classified as having low levels of mental well-being . These findings underscore the importance of addressing intergenerational trauma in efforts to improve mental health outcomes, especially mental wellbeing among young adults in Indonesia. Sebanyak 103 partisipan direkrut melalui pengambilan sampel acak dan menyelesaikan versi adaptasi bahasa Indonesia dari Historical Intergenerational Trauma Transmission Questionnaire (HITT-Q), the General Functioning of Family scale, and the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (WEMWBS).
