The journal aims to provide a venue for language researchers to share theories, views, and research results in areas of Pragmatics, Discourse Analysis, CDA, and Interlanguage Pragmatics. The journal covers emerging issues in Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis. Preference is given to well-researched papers that expand the frontiers of theoretical or empirical knowledge in these disciplines. It is interested in harnessing top-notched research in these fields worldwide and then making them available on open access to readers. The editorial board seeks to conduct high-quality research in Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis through a thoroughly blind peer-review process.

Abstract

The  problems  in  the  research  are  how  problematic  language  teachers  are  in  online  learning  during  the  pandemic,  and  how  to  solve  problems  for  Indonesian  language  teachers  in  online  learning  during  the  pandemic.  The  purpose  of  this  study  is  to  describe  the  problems  of  Indonesian  language  teachers  in  online  learning  during  the  pandemic  and  to  describe  problem  solving  solutions  for  Indonesian  language  teachers  in  online  learning  during  the  pandemic.  This  research  is  a  qualitative  descriptive  research.  This  type  of  research  does  not  have  a  comparison  group.  The  subjects  in  this  study  were  Indonesian  language  teachers  at  SMP  and  SMA  Negeri  1  Ampibabo  in  Ampibabo  village.  Data  collection  in  this  study  were  questionnaires,  interviews  and  documentation.  The  data  from  the  evaluation  were  analyzed  using  qualitative  data  analysis  methods.  The  results  of  this  study  are  (1)  Inadequate  internet  network  access  during  the  online  learning  process.  (2)  The  teacher  is  a  "debt  collector"  in  carrying  out  the  online  teaching  and  learning  process,  the  teacher  only  gives  assignments  continuously  and  collects  assignments  at  a  predetermined  time.  (3)  Teachers  still  stutter  in  mastering  technology  so  that  in  the  implementation  of  online  learning  it  is  still  difficult  to  choose  relevant  applications  and  teaching  methods  are  still  not  varied.  (4)  The  implementation  of  online  learning  greatly  affects  the  psychological  condition  of  students  where  in  online  learning  these  students  experience  boredom  and  are  lazy  to  participate  in  learning.  The  teacher's  practical  solution  in  implementing  online  learning  is  by  applying  offline  learning  by  visiting  from  home  to  home  where  in  the  offline  learning  process  students  are  very  active  in  the  learning  process  compared  to  online  learning  which  cannot  be  carried  out  effectively

Abstract

This research is motivated by the videos uploaded on Andre Taulany's youtube which tend to have the language of someone who has a narcissistic tendency. so that it can be seen from the expressiveness of the language. This research will be discussed in a psychopragmatic study. This approach is deliberately used to examine expressive speech acts that are motivated by a person's psychology and psychological factors such as one's desire, willingness and desire to get something. The type of research used in this research is qualitative research. The data in this study are the words conveyed by Andre Taulany in the video on his youtube account based on the number of views and comments. Data were collected by using listening and note-taking techniques. Data analysis using the matching method and the agih method. speech acts that convey the contents of Andre's thoughts or feelings that are expressed or shown through his expressive language. The utterances that Andre expressed through his expressive language lead to the characteristics of someone who has narcissistic tendencies.

Abstract

This study aims to find forms and explanations of open strategies directly on the speech act of apologizing in Javanese. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with an ethnopragmatic design. Research data obtained from 46 research subjects through observation and in-depth interviews. Data analysis was carried out with a flow model in which there were reduction, presentation, verification, and inference. The results showed that direct 'open' strategy are (a) praising the pt first, (b) sympathizing, (c) using group similarity markers, (d) seeking or asking for opinions, (e) making offers and promises, (f ) giving reasons, (g) giving respect, (h) admitting mistakes, (i) begging very much, and (j) repeating an apology

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the form of illocutionary speech used by Fiersa Besari in the social media Youtube. This study uses a descriptive method to achieve research objectives following the problem under study. This research with a qualitative approach uses the descriptive method. The data source used is the video in the “Episode of a Journal” playlist on the Fiersa Besari Youtube social media. This research data are fragments of words or sentences included in the type of illocutionary speech act. Based on the study results, it can be conveyed that the analysis of Fiersa Besari’s illocutionary speech acts in the “Episode of a Journal” playlist on Youtube social media serves to make the result of the illocutionary speech acts found in the video even better. The use of illocutionary speech acts in Fiersa Besari’s video in the “Episode of a Journal” playlist found four types of speech acts: assertive speech acts, directive speech acts, expressive speech acts, and commissive speech acts. The most common speech acts, while the least found, were commissive speech acts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the discourse with a focus on comparative language style and satire. This type of research is qualitative with descriptive method. The data source of this research is the novel Heritage by Chairul Harun. The data of this research are in the form of words that can be formulated as comparative figure of speech and satire based on the speech of the narrator and the characters. The data collection techniques in this study were: (1) reading the novel Heritage by Chairul Harun, (2) describing the data, and (3) recording the data that will be used as research material into a table. The data analysis technique is carried out by: (1) grouping the data into an analysis table, (2) determining the figure of speech contained in the speech of the character or the narrator's speech, (3) describing the results of the analysis, and (4) interpreting the results of the analysis by looking at the trend of using figure of speech. , and (5) conclude the results of the overall data analysis. Based on the data analysis and discussion, the results showed that the authors used comparative and satire figure of speech including personification, metonymy, allusion, metaphor, synecdoche, eponym, epithet, and simile. The dominant figure of speech in the novel Heritage by Chairul Harun is metaphorical figure of speech. Meanwhile, the satire figures found were satire, sarcasm, cynicism, innuendo, irony and antifrasis. The satire in the novel Heritage by Chairul Harun is dominantly cynical.
