Abstract

The Sidoarjo volcanic mudflow disaster in East Java, which began in 2006, has caused ongoing environmental and socio-economic challenges. However, the volcanic mud’s unique composition, rich in silica (SiO?), alumina (Al?O?), and iron oxide (Fe?O?), presents significant potential for resource recovery. This review utilizes a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, to analyze 49 relevant publications from 2013 to 2024. The findings indicate that treated Sidoarjo mud can be effectively utilized in various civil engineering applications, including ceramic tiles, concrete bricks, geopolymer binders, and road base stabilizers, fulfilling national performance standards while contributing to reduced carbon emissions and construction costs. Moreover, Sidoarjo mud demonstrates its value in environmental engineering, showing effectiveness as an adsorbent for heavy metals, dyes, and organic pollutants in water treatment, as well as serving as a catalyst support in biodiesel production. This review underscores the multidisciplinary value of Sidoarjo mud, positioning it as a key material in advancing circular economy practices and promoting environmentally sustainable innovations within the built environment.

Abstract

Tires represent the third-largest operational cost after fuel and maintenance in mining operations and contribute significantly to environmental waste. At PT Mahada Makmur, particularly at the MIFA jobsite, the 11.00R20 bias tire installed on the AXOR2528-CH hauling unit was observed to have suboptimal performance. This unit plays a critical role in coal transportation from the crusher to the port or power plant and has been modified (upsized) to carry loads up to 30 tons, exceeding the original design capacity of 20 tons. The research problem centers on the rapid wear and reduced lifespan of the bias tires under increased load conditions. The objective of this study is to identify the dominant factors affecting tire performance and propose an effective strategy to extend tire life. Using a three-month field observation method, the study evaluated the tire’s operational conditions and categorized influencing variables into maintenance, mechanical, operational, and product factors. Results indicated that operational factors, such as overloading and improper driving behavior, were the main contributors to premature tire wear. As a strategic solution, the study recommends tire standardization in accordance with actual load capacity and eliminating operational inefficiencies. The implication of this research is the potential for reduced tire costs, improved operational safety, and minimized environmental impact through more sustainable tire management practices.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the suitability of Type 36-unit sizes in meeting stakeholder satisfaction at the ASN Pasar Jumat Flat and proposes strategic design optimizations to improve quality of life outcomes. Space optimization is defined as maximizing functional utility through efficient layouts, multifunctional furniture, and enhancements in operational elements such as ventilation and lighting, without altering the main structure. Stakeholder satisfaction is measured based on key performance indicators (KPIs) of comfort, mobility space, storage capacity, privacy, and environmental health, assessed through standardized questionnaires. The study employs a qualitative approach, focusing on in-depth interviews to understand end-user experiences with Type 36 units. Open-ended questionnaires complement the interviews to identify satisfaction drivers, while physical measurements verify reported spatial conditions. Data from these three methods are thematically analyzed to generate actionable insights for design optimization. Findings indicate that Type 36 units fall short of stakeholder expectations in mobility space, storage, and ventilation. Layout efficiency, natural lighting, and privacy are also hindered by dimensional constraints. The study proposes strategic optimizations through spatial reconfiguration, deploying foldable or built-in furniture, and targeted improvements in ventilation and lighting. The research provides evidence-based recommendations for managers and policymakers, including adaptive design frameworks and phased renovation protocols, to enhance housing standards for ASN, particularly at the ASN Pasar Jumat Flat, and as a benchmark for future residential developments.

Abstract

With an emphasis on PT. Comba Telecom Network Indonesia, this paper investigates the possible effects of President Prabowo Subianto's new policies on foreign direct investment (FDI) in Indonesia's telecommunications industry. In light of Indonesia's changing regulatory environment, the study assesses the advantages and disadvantages of expanding a business internationally using a Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) approach. The results show that although foreign direct investment (FDI) has many advantages, including access to international markets, knowledge transfer, and capital infusion, it also has a number of hazards, including uncertainty in regulations, protectionist measures, and economic nationalism. By offering useful information to investors, decision-makers, and scholarly scholars, the study adds to the larger conversation on foreign direct investment in emerging nations. Under Indonesia's new political leadership, the research's implications go beyond the telecom industry and provide a model for assessing foreign direct investment in other sectors.

Abstract

Abuse of authority by state officials in Indonesia remains a serious issue, not only violating regulations but also causing state financial losses and diminishing the quality of public services. This study examines the dynamics of administrative and criminal liability in cases of abuse of authority that result in state losses, especially after the issuance of Law Number 30 of 2014 concerning Government Administration. There is an assumption that the return of state losses by the perpetrator can eliminate his criminal liability, even though this is contrary to the provisions of Article 4 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption. This study is a normative legal study with a normative and philosophical juridical approach. The results indicate that the return of state losses does not immediately eliminate criminal liability for corruption. In practice, the results of administrative examinations can be used as evidence in enforcing criminal law. Therefore, coordination between the realm of administrative law and criminal law is important in resolving abuse of authority fairly and effectively.
