Abstract

Depression is a common and serious mental health disorder that affects individuals across age, gender, and social boundaries. This study investigates efforts to prevent depression from the perspective of psychological benefits, using a survey method with a sample of 25 individuals aged 17–50 who have experienced depression. The research employs a multidisciplinary psychological framework including cognitive-behavioral theory, social psychology, and personality psychology to understand the root causes and design preventive strategies. The findings emphasize the effectiveness of developing adaptive coping skills, fostering social support systems, and enhancing public awareness through mental health education. Additionally, online-based psychological interventions such as internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (ICBT) are shown to provide flexible and accessible support. A distinctive feature of this research is the integration of Christian faith-based practices—such as prayer, scripture reflection, and faith community engagement—as complementary tools to psychological approaches. These spiritual dimensions strengthen individuals' emotional and moral resilience, contributing to more effective depression prevention. The results also highlight that social factors are the dominant cause of depression (59%), followed by biological, psychological, and economic factors. The study recommends tailored preventive interventions that consider individual personality types, social context, and spiritual needs. Implications of this research support a holistic model for mental health prevention and call for further exploration into the interplay between psychological and spiritual resilience frameworks in mitigating depression.

Abstract

This research focuses on the design of a bidirectional reinforced concrete slab for a 5-storey apartment building located on Jalan Pemuda, Semarang, following SNI 1726:2019 standards. The objective is to compare the results of the direct design method (DDM) using Excel with ETABS v18 software, analyzing the accuracy of traditional methods in modern structural designs. The study employed a practical approach, incorporating various design parameters such as beam dimensions, span length, dead and live loads, and material strengths (f'c and fy). The results indicate that although there is a slight difference between the methods, they exhibit similar trends. The study found that increased load leads to higher moments, while larger beams and higher concrete strength reduce reinforcement requirements. However, discrepancies between the methods were observed due to rounding errors in the DDM. The research suggests refining moment calculation techniques and enhancing software tools for more accurate slab designs. The findings are essential for improving design accuracy in both academic and professional practice, particularly for earthquake-resistant structures.

Abstract

The Cipager Dam, located in Cirebon Regency, Indonesia, serves as a crucial infrastructure for irrigation in the region, with an irrigation network covering over 1,600 hectares. Despite its importance, the dam faces issues related to maintenance, network conditions, and workforce shortages, affecting its performance and water distribution efficiency. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the Cipager Dam irrigation network by analyzing the condition of the main and secondary channels, assessing water availability against demand, and exploring the impact of operational deficiencies. The research adopts a descriptive-inductive approach using both primary and secondary data. Primary data were collected through direct field observation of the irrigation infrastructure, while secondary data were obtained from institutional records, rainfall data, and historical irrigation performance. The study found that the water discharge from Cipager River is adequate to meet irrigation needs. However, the irrigation network suffers from moderate to severe damage, and there is a shortage of management personnel. The operational and maintenance budget remains insufficient despite a slight increase in 2025. The study suggests that improving the irrigation network’s maintenance, integrating advanced technologies like IoT, and enhancing workforce management could significantly improve the system's performance and sustainability. Future studies should explore these areas and compare other irrigation systems in Indonesia to identify best practices.

Abstract

This research examines the increasing interest of Generation Z in Indonesia in podcasts, and how audiovisual elements - especially on the YouTube platform - shape social reality. The problem raised stems from the increasing consumption of digital media by Gen Z and the shifting function of podcasts which are now not only as entertainment, but also as a means of identity formation and social awareness. The main objective of this research is to analyze the influence of visual elements in podcast content on audience engagement and social perception. The research uses a qualitative approach with a desk study method, with secondary data collected from academic journals, digital reports, and media publications in the last five years. The data was analyzed thematically to identify Gen Z's podcast consumption behavior patterns. The results show that Generation Z prefers podcast content that integrates audio and visual elements, such as those presented on YouTube. Visualizations such as facial expressions, animations, and real-time reactions enhance comprehension while creating deeper emotional engagement. Unlike audio-only platforms, YouTube allows for participatory interaction and community building around podcast content. These features contribute to shaping social narratives and strengthening digital literacy among young audiences. The implications of this research point to the need for content creators and the media industry to prioritize interactive and visually rich podcast formats. In addition, educational institutions and policy makers can utilize podcasts as a medium for digital education, identity formation, and strengthening citizen participation in the digital era.

Abstract

This study analyzes the groundsill design in the Cimanuk River at the Jatitujuh area, Majalengka, with the goal of addressing riverbed degradation and enhancing flood control. The research aims to provide a sustainable solution by stabilizing the riverbed and preventing further erosion, which threatens the river’s hydraulic structures. The study utilizes a combination of hydrological analysis, including discharge frequency analysis, and morphological analysis to calculate the design of the groundsill structure. The hydrological analysis employs several methods, with the Log Pearson III method identified as the most suitable for calculating the 100-year return period flood discharge of 1,444.28 m³/s. The structure’s design includes a main dam height of 3.83 meters and a sub-dam height of 1.10 meters, with stability analysis confirming its safety against overturning and shear forces. The findings indicate that the groundsill will reduce water velocity, prevent further riverbed degradation, and maintain the structural integrity of the Rentang Weir. The study highlights the need for community participation in maintaining the groundsill and calls for further environmental impact assessments and climate change considerations. This research contributes to the development of effective river management strategies and provides recommendations for future studies, including optimization of the groundsill design under varying conditions and exploring the effects of climate change on river discharge.

Abstract

Teacher innovation is the key to improving the quality of learning. Although work motivation, organizational support, and creativity have been proven to influence teachers' innovation, there are still few integrative approaches that consider local wisdom such as gotong royong, a typical Indonesian cultural value. This research aims to develop and optimize a model that maps the role of mutual cooperation and work motivation in encouraging teacher innovation, to support strategic decision-making in the field of education. With a mixed-method approach, data were collected from 180 foundation permanent teachers (GTY) at private high schools in Bekasi Regency. The analysis was carried out using PLS-SEM, with validation of factor and path coefficients to optimize the model. The results showed that mutual cooperation had a significant direct effect on teachers' innovation (? = 0.180; p = 0.002) and work motivation (? = 0.623; p = 0.000), while work motivation was a strong predictor of teacher innovation (? = 0.766; p = 0.000). This research confirms that the culture of mutual cooperation and work motivation plays a strategic role in educational innovation. The integrated model developed is a new contribution to the management of teacher innovation based on culture and psychology and can be used in continuous education policies.
