Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the concentration of kurut wood and jackfruit wood on the yield, pH, and percentage of reducing sugars of palm sugar. This experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) which consists of 6 treatments, i.e., 0 g/L, 3 g/L, 4 g/L, 5 g/L, 6 g/L, and 7 g/L. The data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) using Co-Stat software and posthoc analysis for chemical score using Orthogonal Polynomial Method (MOP). Statistical analysis of chemical value shows that the increase in the concentration of kurut wood and jackfruit wood (0 g/L – 7 g/L) significantly affects the decrease of the total microbe and percentage of reducing sugars, and the increase of the amount of yield, palm juice, and sugar pH. The 7 g/L treatment was the best, with different analysis results for kurut wood and jackfruit wood. In kurut wood, the total microbes counted 5.46 CFU/ml; yield 495.33g; pH 6.72; and reducing sugar 0.96. In jackfruit wood, total microbes counted 5.6 CFU/ml; yield 386.33g; pH 6.68; and reducing sugar 0.85.

Abstract

The harmful effects of exposure to light (UV) can be prevented by using sunscreen. This study aims to determine the best formulation contained in various herbal plants to be used as a manufacturing material sunscreen. The method in this study is the study of literature from the research journal database on the internet, namely through google scholar and Proquest University of Mataram. Sunscreens are assessed in terms of light protection factor expressed by the SPF value (Sun Protection Factor) to determine the effectiveness of sunscreen preparations or the ability to withstand UV rays. Several types of herbal plants that grow in various regions in Indonesia contain photoprotective bioactive compounds. Aromatic ginger (Kaempferia galanga L.) is a herbal plant widely used as an ingredient in sunscreens with a high protection category. Cinnamic derivatives, namely ethyl para-methoxycinnamate (EPMS), are one of the compounds contained in aromatic ginger and can be used as a manufacturing material sunscreen that is good and safe for the skin.

Abstract

This research aims to develop hormone system teaching material for distance learning DL through Moodle to improve students' digital literacy. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which has the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The developed teaching material was tested for feasibility on the material, media, and language aspects by six expert validators. Two biology teachers and students from senior high school SMAN 3 Bekasi also tested the developed teaching material. The results showed that the hormone system teaching material for DL through Moodle had an average value of 3.40 (very valid) on the material aspect, 3.30 (very valid) on the media aspect, and 3.03 (valid) on the language aspect. The Biology teacher’s trial obtained an average value of 3.45 (very valid) and an average of 3.32 (very valid) for the students’ trial. The hormone system teaching materials for DL through Moodle has a final average value of 3.30 from a maximum value of 4.00. It shows that the hormone system teaching material for DL through Moodle is very valid to be used as a learning medium for hormone systems in schools and is expected to improve students' digital literacy.

Abstract

This research and development aim to develop constructivism-based physics teaching aids to build students' generic science skills on static fluid material. The research subjects chosen were class XI Senior High School 2 Kilo, semester I, studying static fluid material for the 2022/2023 academic year. The validation results for the development of constructivism-based physics teaching aids to build Generic Science Skills for high school students on static fluid material show an average score of 0.75 with a percentage of 22.43% for very good criteria, an average score of 2.75 with a percentage of 78.57% for good criteria. At the same time, the categories are sufficient, lacking, and very unfavorable, each with an average score of 0 with a percentage of 0.00%. It indicates that the validator assesses the aspect of the teaching aids as good. The development of constructivism-based physics teaching aids on static fluid material can build students' Generic Science Skills, shown in the N-Gain percentage of 70.65% with the high category. Students also responded positively to the development of constructivism-based teaching aids in building Generic Science Skills. It was indicated by the average student responding strongly agree 37.60% and giving a response of agree 44.00% while responding disagree 9.80%, strongly disagree 8.60%.

Abstract

The use of templates and examples of papers separately is proven to be able to develop students' writing skills. The average degree of mastery that can be achieved is already in the good category. Using various learning facilities can be a solution to improve these achievements into a very good category. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing templates and sample papers in developing students' writing skills in science courses. The pre-experimental research was conducted on elementary school teacher education study program students. Data on each student's scientific research paper writing skills were collected using the documentation method. This data was then analyzed descriptively. The descriptive analysis includes average and proportion measurements. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that the average student's skills in writing papers were in a good category. Most students have very good (41.44%) and good (40.54%) categories of writing skills. 13 indicators have reached the very good category, one indicator is in a good category, and two indicators are in the sufficient category. The rests are one indicator still in the less category and four indicators in the less category. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research results is using examples and paper templates as effective learning facilities to improve students' writing skills.

Abstract

Teaching materials as a support in the learning process in this technological era can be in the form of e-modules. Using e-modules in the learning process is declared effective, with a marked increase in student learning outcomes. This research aims to produce an integrated STEAM Problem-Based Learning E-Module of Salt Hydrolysis and determine its validity and practicality level. The type of research used is research development or Research and Development (R&D). The development model used is the Plomp model, which consists of 3 stages, namely: (1) Preliminary Research, (2) the Development or Prototyping Phase, and (3) Trial and Assessment (assessment phase). This research is limited to the development stage, namely the validity and practicality test. The research instrument used was a validity and practicality questionnaire. Five validators validated the e-module, while the practicality test was carried out by three chemistry teachers and 12 students in class XII MIPA senior high school SMAN 15 Padang. The results of the validation analysis obtained an average content validity test value of 0.87 with a valid category and an average media validity test value of 0.90 with a valid category. At the same time, the practicality tests of teachers and students obtained 91% and 91%, respectively, in the very practical practicality category. In conclusion, the salt hydrolysis e-module based on STEAM integrated Problem-Based Learning for class XI SMA/MA, which has been developed, is valid and practical.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a chemical uno card game as a learning medium on the periodic system of elements for tenth-grade students and determine its validity and practicality. This type of research is research and development with the Plomp development model, which consists of three stages, namely (1) preliminary research, (2) prototyping stage, and (3) assessment phase. The research subjects were five chemistry lecturers at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Padang State University, two chemistry teachers, and ten senior high school SMAN 13 Padang students for the 2022/2023 academic year. The research instrument was in the form of one-to-one evaluation interview sheets, media expert validity questionnaires, material expert validity questionnaires, and practicality test questionnaires. Validity data were analyzed using the Aiken'V formula, and practicality data were processed using the percentage formula. The validity value of the media expert was 0.88, and the material expert was 0.85 with the valid category. The results of the practicality analysis by teachers and students are in the very practical category, with respective values ​​of 95.38% and 97%. In conclusion, the uno chemical card game as a learning medium in the periodic system of elements was valid and practical.

Abstract

This study aims to describe student learning outcomes and independence through SOLE (Self Organized Learning Environments) learning. The subjects of this study were 21 Biology Education students who took the Introductory Education course. Data on learning outcomes were collected using tests, while independence using a non-test with a Likert scale. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively into five categories. Cognitive learning outcomes in the good category were 11 (52%), and very good was 10 (48%) students. The results of the analysis of independence with categories fairly good, good, and very good were 2(10%), 8(32%), and 11(52%) students, respectively. The achievement of student independence on the indicators of not depending on others, self-confidence, discipline, responsibility, and self-control varies from fairly good to very good. In contrast, the self-initiative indicators vary in the good and very good categories. The analysis of the relationship between independence and learning outcomes shows that in all categories, independence shows learning outcomes in very good and good categories. Conclusion: (a) Student cognitive learning outcomes in completing lectures vary in very good and good categories. (b) Students' independence in completing lectures varies from fairly good to very good categories but is dominated by very good categories. (c) student independence in each indicator varies from fairly good to very good, except for the initiative indicator, which is in the good and good categories. (d) the level of student independence determines learning outcomes that vary in very good and good categories.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of snail mucus gel (Achatina fulica) on the length of time for burns healing, burns diameter, and the percentage of burns healing in mice (Mus musculus). The type of this research was experimental with a completely randomized design (CRD) method with 20 male mice divided into five treatment groups, namely NC (Negative Control; gel basis), PC (Positive Control; Bioplacenton 10%), P1 (3% gel), P2 (4% gel) and P3 (5% gel), with four replications for each treatment. The making of burns on the back of mice was done by using metal coins that were heated to become coals with an initial diameter of 20 mm, which are affixed for 1 second. The parameters observed were the length of time for burns healing, burns diameter, and the percentage of burns healing for 16 days. The data were analyzed by using Way ANOVA (Analysis Of Variance) (α = 0.05%) and continued with the LSD (Least Significant Different) test. The results showed that snail mucus gel (A. fulica) with a gel concentration of 5% was more effective in accelerating burns healing with an average healing time of 14 days, and positive controls healed within 14. In 25 days, 4% gel recovered in 14.5 days, 3% in 15 days, and negative controls recovered in 16 days. The fastest closure of burns diameter was in gel with a concentration of 5% with a mean of burns diameter of 0.33 mm and an average percentage of burn healing of 98.35%, followed by the Bioplacenton treatment group of 10%, gel with a concentration of 4%, 3%, and the longest burns closure was in the ointment base gel group.

Abstract

Creative thinking is one of the abilities that 21st-century students must possess. The importance of the ability to think creatively for students is so that students can spark ideas to find solutions in problem-solving. However, students' creative thinking skills still need to improve; this can be seen in the need for more active students in learning activities. Interactive learning media can attract students' attention so they can actively participate in learning activities. One application that can be used as a learning medium is Padlet. This study aims to analyze the efficiency level of Padlet-assisted interactive learning media with the theme of environmental change to foster the creative thinking abilities of class VII students. The method used is R&D (research and development) with a model that refers to Sugiono (2017), which is then modified and limited to the product trial stage. The result showed that the scores obtained on the validation and trial of Padlet-assisted interactive learning media were 94.25% in the "Very Valid" category, and the results of the media trials obtained a score of 89.93% in the "Very Efficient" category. The developed media can also foster creative thinking skills based on students' assessment of media trials on creative thinking indicators obtaining a percentage value of 85.91%. In conclusion, Padlet-assisted interactive learning media is very efficient and suitable for use in the field to foster the creative thinking abilities of class VII students on environmental change.
