Abstract

Corrosion is a chemical reaction between metal and chemical substances in free air influenced by typographical conditions, climate, and humidity levels around the metal object. If left unchecked, it can cause damage to the metal infrastructure, material losses, and harm in terms of safety and security. Therefore, a way to inhibit corrosion is needed by creating an environmentally friendly inhibitor from natural materials. One of them is by utilizing Sambiloti leaf as a natural inhibitor. Sambiloto leaves contain tannins which can inhibit corrosion well. This study aimed to determine the efficiency of Sambiloto leaves ethanol extract in inhibiting the corrosion rate of metals in the corrosive medium of well water. HCl was soaked for seven days to determine the correlation between the corrosion rate and extract concentration in different corrosive media. Sambiloto leaves were extracted using the soxhletation method using 96% ethanol solution, then distilled to obtain a pure extract. Sambiloto leaf extract was then varied in concentration, namely 1%, 5%, 10%, and 15%. The corrosive medium is well water and HCl, and the metal material used is nails. The results showed that adding Sambiloto extract with a concentration of 15% in both corrosive mediums had the highest inhibitor efficiency values, namely 97.32% in the corrosive HCl medium and 69.3% in the corrosive well water medium. The results of the regression analysis showed that the addition of Sambiloto extract had a significant effect on the corrosion rate in well water media. In contrast, in the HCl medium, the addition of Sambiloto extract did not significantly affect the corrosion rate.

Abstract

The number of species of grasshoppers (Orthoptera) in Indonesia is very large, but the successfully identified species still need improvement. It then causes many of the existing species to be identified. This study aimed to determine the grasshopper species (Orthoptera) types in the Hamlet of Otak Kebon, Beriri Jarak Village. This exploratory, descriptive research uses a qualitative approach. Sampling was carried out in May 2022 in three habitat types: gardens, fields, and rice fields. Absolute and relative methods were carried out in sampling. The samples obtained were then identified using field guides and available literature to obtain existing species richness data. The results showed that there were 15 species, namely: Valanga nigricornis, Conozoa hyaline, Oedaleus infernalis, Chorthippus brunneus, Trimerotropis pallidipennis, Chorthippus albomarginatus, Ceracris kiangsu, Melanoplus bispinosus, L. migratoria manilensis Meyen, Trimerotropis occulens, Locusta migratoria, Austracris guttulosa, Atractomorpha crenulate, Leptophyes punctatissima, and Gryllus bimaculatus. The species found belong to two suborders, namely Caelifera and Ensifera. The species are divided into four families: Acrididae, Pyrgomorphidae, Tettigoniidae, and Gryllidae. The Acrididae family dominates the existing species. In addition, 13 species were also found that still needed to be recorded in previous studies, bringing the total to 43 species.

Abstract

E-commerce adoption with the UTAUT 2 model is a complex and multidimensional issue that connects multiple dimensions. A statistical method that can explain the relationship between one latent variable and another variable is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). This study aims to create a structural model of e-commerce adoption using SEM based on indicators in the UTAUT2 theory. The data used in this study is primary data obtained through a survey of MSME actors in Batam City using a questionnaire with the purposive sampling method. The sample used was 200 MSMEs. The analysis results show that the  value on the Behavioral Intention variable was 88.6%, and the Use Behavior variable was 76.8%.  value of 97.4% indicates that the exogenous latent variable strongly affects the endogenous latent variable. The goodness of the fit value suggests that the SEM model in this study can explain empirical data or field data by 83%. The hypothesis testing results are that Behavioral intention significantly affects effort expectancy, facilitating condition, performance expectancy, and price value. Related to indirect effect, variables that affect user behavior through behavioral intention are significantly the variables of effort expectancy, facilitating condition, habit, performance expectancy, and price value.

Abstract

After around two years of having online learning, students in the universities have to come back to face-to-face learning mode as it was before the pandemic. This setting also applied to the biology education study program of Universitas Sulawesi Barat. The current study investigated the students’ perspective on changing online to face-to-face learning after COVID-19. It is a qualitative descriptive study with nine students as respondents from the classes of 2019, 2020, and 2021. The instrument used was an interview guide consisting of indicators regarding online teaching and learning features, assessment, and interactions that students needed to experience in face-to-face settings but would like to. In addition, students' perceptions of the advantages and disadvantages of the shift from online to offline learning were also assessed. The data analysis was performed in three stages: data reduction, data display, and drawing a conclusion or data verification. The result showed that several things they would like to have as it was during online learning were (1) have electronic materials, online-games-based learning, and more time to complete the assignments, (2) get various types of assessments including via online platforms (3) to have online applications or media to discuss learning materials and submit assignments. (4) In addition, for the advantages, the practicums could be conducted in laboratories, they felt more concentrated during offline classes, and became more confident to apply IT skills during offline settings, while the disadvantages were feeling anxious and fear to interacting during offline class and trouble to listen to lecturers’ class while having masks. Overall, students feel face-to-face learning is way more effective and efficient but suggested blended learning as an interesting mode in the learning and teaching implementation.
