Abstract

The aim of this study to sought determine effect of seligi leaf powder (Phyllanthus buxifolius, Muell) as a feed supplement on body weight, feed consumption, fat and cholesterol level of egg quails. Eighteen of quails have aclimated for 14 days, randomly divided into 3 group and each group have treated 0, 2,5 and 5% powder of seligi leaf in feed for 7 days. The result of this study shown powder of seligi leaf significant (P< 0,05) influence on body weight, feed consumption, and fat and cholesterol level of egg quails, but not significant (P>0,05) influence on internal quality off egg. Average of body weight quail in tread without powder of seligi leaf significant (P<0,05) lower than 2,5% and 5% powder of seligi leaf in feed, the average consumption of the quail treated with 2.5% and 5% significant (P <0.05) lower than the diet without leaf powder seligi, the average fat content of the treated 2.5% and 5% lower than the diet without seligi leaf powder, the average cholesterol levels treated with 2.5% and 5% lower than the diet without seligi leaf powder. It’s can be concluded that the use of seligi leaf powder in the ration of 2.5%-5% can reduce levels of fat and cholesterol 1,01-1,65% and 0,99-1,38%, respectively without influence on internal quality of quail eggs. Keywords: seligi, quail, feed intake, fat and cholesterol

Abstract

Sword white lentils (Canavalia ensiformis (L) have hight potential to be used as raw material for food processing products. Study aimed to find optimum sword white lentils dose as raw material for yoghurt. Study have conducted using a completely randomized experimental design consisted of 5 doses of lentils (333, 250, 200, 167 and 143 g/l medium) with 4 replication. Fermentation procces have conducted using Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus 1:1 in ration for 12 h. Results showed dose of lentils significant effect (P <0.05) on bacterial counts, levels of carbon and nitrogen, and viscosity and organoleptic properties of yogurt. Bacterial count, Levels of carbon and nitrogen as well as yogurt highest viscosity obtained at doses lentils 333 g/l. Nevertheless, the organoleptic properties of yogurt were most preferred by the panelists obtained at doses lentils 200 g/l. Study conclude sword white lentils can be used as raw material for making yoghurt with the best dosage is 200 g/l medium. Key words: lentils, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Streptococcus thermophilus, yoghurt

Abstract

The aims of this study to test the killing effect of aqueous extract of leaf pronojiwo (E. horsfieldii) on mortality of rice pests N. lugens, L. acuta and rice T. innotata. Study was conducted in a completely randomized exprimental design with 5 level of water extract of E. horsfieldii (0, 40, 50, 66,67, and 100 g/l in water), each of treatment was 5 replication. Application have done by spraying water extract of leaves Pronojiwo to 3 types of rice pest insects reared in containment measures 80 x 25 cm2, for each lid containing 10 head insects. Observations of rice pests mortality for 24 hours after application of aqueous extract E. horsfieldii. The results of this study showed the aqueous extract of E. horsfieldii have significant effect (P <0.05) on mortality of rice pests. Aqueous extract of leaves E. horsfieldii can kill pests of rice N.lugens, L. acuta, and T. innotata with lethal concentration 50 (LC50) of 4.46, 4.48 and 4.49 g/l water. Key words : E. horsfieldii, mortality, N.lugens, L. acuta, and T. innotata

Abstract

This study aims to eksplore utilization and optimal dose of fruit punch as raw materials for nata production. This work was conducted using completely randomized design consisting of 5 treatments (333, 250, 200, 170 dan 140 g/l) with 4 replication. Each of dose fruit punch added on basal medium consisting of 100 g/l gula, 5 g/l urea and 10% starter culture of A.xylinum. Results showed dose of fruit punch have significant (P<0.05) effect on yield, firmness, carbon and nitrogen consumption and sensory characteristic. Highest yield (42,14±0,20 g/l), firmnesss (4,24±0.16 g/l), carbon (2,01±0,17%) and nitrogen (0,33±0,12%) consumption have obtained from fruit punch 333 g / l In the medium dose of fruit punch in 333 g / l (2.01 ± 0.17%). Most prefered color of nata (3,75±0,06) was obtained from 333 g/l, neverless most prefered both of taste (3,63±0,04) and aroma (3,37±0,02) were obtained from 140 g/l fruit punch. This study take conclusion that fruit punch can utilize as raw material for nata with optimum dose 333 g/l. Keywords: Sonneratia caseolaris, nata, carbon and nitrogen consumption, production, firmness, organoleptic.

Abstract

The activity of cherry leaf (Muntingia calabura) extract as bioinsectiside on black cutworm (Agrotis ipsilon) and beet armyworm (Spodoptera exiqua) was conducted. In this work also studied effect of application of cherry leaf extract on number of leek plants (Allium porrum) doughter. Five hundred black cutworm and beet armyworm, repectively randomly divide into 4 groups and 25 head of black cutworm and beet armyworm enter into plastic jar and sprayed by 0, 2,0, 5,5, dan 7.5% cherry leaf extract in water. Mortality were abserved at 24 hours after application and number of leek plants doughter at 5 weeks with frekwensi of spray 1 times per day. Result shown that sprayed of cherry leaf extract have significat effect (P<0,05) on mortality and number of leek plants. Lethal concentration 50 of cherry leaf extract black armyworm and beet armyworm are 3,72% and 7,5%, repectively. Meanwhile, hightest number of leek plant have obtained from sprayed 7,5% cherry leaf extract concentration. Key words: cherry leaf, bioinsectiside, black cutworm , beet armyworm, leek plants.

Abstract

Frangipani sap (Plumeria acumenate.WTAit) was known to use as an antiseptic. This study aimed to prove ethyl acetate extract of frangipani sap as antibacterial Staphylococcus aureus. Frangipani sap from apical stem was extracted with chloroform and fractionated with ethyl acetate. Concentration of ethyl acetate extract (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%) were tested against the growth of bacteria S. aureus using plate count and diffusion agar method. The results showed concentrations of frangipani sap extract significantly (P <0.05) on the growth of S. aureus. Highest inhibitions of frangipani sap extract on growth of S. aureus have obtained at a concentration of 25%. Key words: frangipani sap, ethyl acetate, S. aureus

Abstract

The aim of this study to find optimum concentration of urea in production, firmness and sensory properties of nata. This study was conducted using a completely randomized experimental design consisting 4 levels concentrations of urea (3, 4, 5 and 6 g/ l) with 6 replication. Fermentation processes were conducted using Acetobacter xylinum in room temperature (27oC) under light condition for 10 days. The results showed that the urea concentration in substrate medium significantly (P<0.05) effect on production and firmness nata. Highest production (503.5±72,5 g/l) and firmness (32.25±1.48 mm/s) of nata have obtained from 4 g/l urea in medium. Neverless, panelist most prepered color of nata from 6 g/l urea. Meanwhile panelists most prepared taste and smell of nata from 4 g/l. Key words: urea, water legen, Nata, Acetobacter xylinum, production, firmness, organoleptic
