Abstract

The verses of the Qur’an were revealed little by little. Allah sometimes revealed only tens of verses, even  one verse only. Apart from the number of  verses revealed, the Prophet often conveied them to his revealation secretary that the verses had just been revealed was the continuation of the prior verses, or the beginning of the verses to reveal. It is from this point of view that the arrangement of the verses as found in Ottoman mushaf was not based on their choronological revealations, but on the harmony of their references and chapters. This article discusses one aspect of Qur’anic sciences, that is ‘Ilmu al-Munasabah  or ‘Ilmu Tanasub al-Ayat wa al-Suwar the reference of the verses and cahpters. Kata Kunci: Munasabah, Ulumul Quran, Alquran, tafsir, surah, ayat

Abstract

Muslims believe  that Muhammed is the last prophet whom God sent to all people of the world. However, they also believe in all prophets sent before Muhammed. The difference laies only the people on whom the prior prophets sent. All prophets prior to Muhammad were sent for  certain people only, but Muhammad was sent to all people of the word. Based on this, the problem is what the relationship is between Muhammed and the revealed religions prior to him. This article discusses that point.Kata Kunci : Nabi, agama samawi, fitrah

Abstract

Al-Suhrawardi al-Maqtul is an Islamic mystitician who is very popular for his mistical teaching on isyraqiyah. Isyraqiyah is a symbol of goodness since it is the place of sunrise.  In his mystical thought, al-Suharawardi who combines mysticism and philosophy eventually comes to the concept of Nur al-Anwar. Abstract

This article deals with portion of inheritance in Islamic law (syari’ah). Portion of inheritance intended in it is that occurs in the case of  Sa’ad Abi Waqash who wishes to inherit his whole property. For this purpose, he conveys his willingness to the Messenger in order that he can get legitimization. Abstract

The God is a hidden essence. Thus, we need a special effort to understand His existence. Various efforts sufi of teaching made to know and even to unite with God have developed in Islam. One of them is Wahdat al-Wujud that tries to apprehend God’s existence through tasawuf falsafi (philosophical mysticism). No one can deny that this sufi concept has brought about many criticisms since it has been considered deviating from tauhid (oneness) concept. Abstract

The development of a language is not free from the influences of other languages. For example, as an official language, Indonesian language used by Indonesians, is not free from the influences of other languages, either local languages such as  Javanese language and Sundaness language or  foreign ones such as English and Arabic.It is within this context that this article aims at discussing contribution of  Arabic  to the development of Indonesian language.

Abstract

This article discusses functions of hadith to Qur’an. It elucidates role of hadis in elaborating meanings contained in Qur’an. It is found that there are some functions of hadith to Qur’an such as bayan al-tafsir (exegesing commentary), bayan al-tauqid (conforming commentary), bayan al-tahqiq (inquiring commentary) and bayan al-tasyri (law-enacting commentary). This article also suggests role of ulum al-hadith in investigating hadith validity level. Kata Kunci: Ulum al-Hadis, Al-Qur’an, Hadis

Abstract

Evil is always considered as being identical to satanic deeds. Strength or weakness of satanic domination in human beings are dependent on them. One of the major themes of the Qur’an is satanic evil. In addition, evil is sometimes labeled as iblis or satan. Abstract

This article discusses techniques of reading English article. There are some techniques that can be applied in reading English articles, each of which lies on the information the reader needs from the article. The first scanning can be applied by readers to get specific information from the article; preview technique can be applied to relate readers’ knowledge to the issues discussed in the article; the second scanning technique can be applied to conduct review in the respect of general aim of the article, to clarify prior ideas and to verify as well as to give emphasis on certain ideas containing in the article. Kata Kunci: Artikel, Scanning, Review
