Abstract

Business Educators in Colleges of Education are saddled with tripartite mandate for the successful realization of the institutional goals. However, there has been much emphasis on their inability to teach as they ought to, disseminate research findings through publications and non-participation in community service. It is against this backdrop that this study investigated training opportunities as predictor of business educators’ job performance in public Colleges of Education, Kwara State, Nigeria. The study specifically examined the level of training opportunities as predictors of business educators’ job performance. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population of the study was 53 Business Educators and quality assurance committee members from the three public colleges of education in the study area. Census sampling technique was adopted in this study. A structured questionnaire containing 20 items was used to elicit responses from the respondents and generated data for the study. The instrument was both face and content validated by three experts. The study made use of Cronbach Alpha and a reliability coefficient of 0.94 was obtained. The data collected for the study were analyzed using mean to answer the research questions raised and standard deviation to determine the closeness or otherwise of the responses from the mean. The study discovered that business educators will perform optimally if they are appropriately exposed to training opportunities and that neglect of business educators’ capacity building will have some negative impacts on their job performance and successful attainment of institutional goals for overall national education development (Mean=3.41; Mean=3.52). The study concluded that all hands must be on deck to ensure that business educators’ training opportunities is handled with seriousness by all stakeholders so that educational goals are realized. The study among others recommended that Management of colleges of education should continue to intensify its efforts in providing training opportunities for business educators by organizing seminars, workshops and conferences

Abstract

Teenage pregnancy, which is often the direct result of premarital sexual relationships, is a significant concern, especially in Nigeria, where the consequences of early childbearing are felt in the academic performance. Thus, this study examined how adolescent students in Lagos State's Yaba Local Council Development Area performed academically in relation to premarital sexual encounters and teenage pregnancy. A descriptive survey design was adopted for the study with a sample of 97 secondary school students. Pearson-Product Moment Correlation and Chi-Square statistical methods were used to assess three research hypotheses at the 0.05 level of significance. The results showed that premarital sexual relationships and academic achievement are significantly correlated, teenage pregnancy has no significant influence on school attendance, and there is a significant influence of parental involvement on the prevention of premarital sexual relationships among adolescent-students in Yaba. Based on these findings, the study recommended that schools should integrate well-structured and age-appropriate sexual and reproductive health education into their curricula, parents should be actively involved in their children's lives by fostering open and non-judgmental communication about relationships, sexuality, and academic aspirations, schools should establish counselling and mentorship programs to support students, particularly teenage mothers, in managing both academic and personal responsibilities, and that schools and community organizations should create peer mentorship programs where older students or trained peer educators can guide younger ones on making informed life choices.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the students' conceptual understanding of the linear equation system in two variables under the setting of deep learning approach. In this research, we involved 27 Grade IX-A students of a junior high school in Yogyakarta. We categorized them into a diverse of learning styles which include visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. It was a qualitative research using descriptive method. The data collection technique was carried out through a mathematical concept understanding test and a semi-structured interview. The data were then analyzed based on indicators of conceptual understanding ability, then categorized based on the criteria of conceptual understanding level by grouping them based on their learning styles. The results show that the application of the deep learning approach supports the students' conceptual understanding of linear equation system in two variables through activities of preparing assistant point tables, graph representation, and determining cut-off points as solutions. Students with visual learning styles show good ability in graphic representation, auditory students are able to model problems sequentially, while kinesthetic students are able to follow systematic solution procedures. Overall, the deep learning approach  helps students understand the concept of linear equation system in two variables more meaningfully based on the characteristics of their respective learning styles.

Abstract

This study examines the role of career guidance systems in enhancing workforce readiness within Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Increasing global challenges such as skills mismatch, youth unemployment, and rapid digital transformation have intensified the need for effective career guidance as a bridge between education and labor market demands. However, significant disparities remain across countries in how career guidance is structured and implemented. This study addresses the research question on how career guidance systems in Germany, Japan, and Indonesia contribute to workforce readiness, and what best practices can be identified. This study contributes to the literature by offering a comparative and integrative perspective on career guidance systems, moving beyond fragmented approaches that focus solely on employability or training systems. It proposes a novel framework that integrates institutional, cultural, and guidance dimensions to explain workforce readiness in TVET. A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted following the PRISMA framework, analyzing 32 peer-reviewed articles sourced from Scopus, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect (2020–2025). The study employed bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer and thematic comparative analysis to identify key patterns across the selected countries. The findings reveal three dominant models: a system-driven approach in Germany characterized by strong industry integration, a culture-driven approach in Japan shaped by organizational values, and an emerging, fragmented system in Indonesia. Career guidance is identified as a critical intermediary mechanism linking education systems and labor market outcomes. The study concludes that workforce readiness is shaped by the interaction of institutional structures, cultural contexts, and career guidance systems. It highlights the need for integrated, industry-aligned, and data-driven career guidance frameworks, particularly in developing countries, to improve employability and reduce skills mismatch.

Abstract

Development of innovative learning media is essential for strengthening students' responsibility character and improving learning outcomes in Pancasila Education. This study aimed to (1) develop Wordwall-based game learning media, (2) examine its validity, (3) evaluate its practicality, and (4) determine its effectiveness in improving the responsibility character and learning outcomes of sixth-grade elementary school students. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model and involved 28 sixth-grade students at UPT SPF SD Negeri Kakatua, a public elementary school in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The developed learning media consisted of four curriculum-based learning topics, four interactive Wordwall game activities, student worksheets, and media usage instructions integrated into a comprehensive instructional package. The interactive learning activities were designed to encourage active participation, independent learning, and the development of students' responsibility character through meaningful game-based learning experiences. The results indicated that the developed media met the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Expert validation confirmed that the media was highly feasible for classroom implementation. Teacher and student responses demonstrated excellent practicality, while students' responsibility character and learning outcomes improved after using the media. The paired-samples t-test revealed a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest scores, and the N-gain analysis indicated meaningful learning improvement. These findings demonstrate that the developed Wordwall-based learning media effectively enhances both students' responsibility character and learning outcomes. Therefore, it can serve as an innovative instructional alternative to support meaningful learning and character education in elementary Pancasila education.
