Abstract

Background: Student of Diploma III Midwifery is demanded to master new born asphyxia management. Student Centered Learning method as one of cooperative learning Jigsaw type has been verified to improve study achievement, to practice critical thinking, and to develop student’s social quotients.Objective: This researchhas an aim to analyze the influence of cooperative learning type Jigsaw on the improvementof student’s knowledge and attitude in studying new born asphyxia management.Method: Research design is quasi-experiment with control group. Data are taken from pre-test and post-test. Research instrument for knowledge uses multiple choice questions. Research instrument for attitude uses questionairewith Likert scale. Target population are students of Diploma III Midwifery semester III who aregetting new born asphyxia management materials. Sample are students of Diploma III Midwifery semester III who are getting new born asphyxia management materials at Health College A. Yani Yogyakarta. Techniquesampling usestotal sampling.Result: The result isthe knowledge of students who follow method of cooperative learning Jigsaw type improve to 63% (p<0.001), while the knowledge of students who follow conventional learning with speech type only improve to 45% (p<0,001). Therefore, there is significant differencein knowledge improvement (p=0,002). Students’ attitude who follow method of coopérative learning Jigsaw type also improve to 13,3% (p<0,001), while students who follow conventional learning with speech typeonly improve8,5% (p<0,001). The different improvement attitude on both groups is significant (p=0,001).Conclution: The conclution is the knowledge and attitude of students who follow method of coopeartive learning Jigsaw type are better than students who follow conventional learning speech type. The improvement is caused by the students’ active rôle in learning procès.Key words: cooperative learning method type Jigsaw, knowledge, attitude

Abstract

Background: one of factors which influence adolescent sexual attitudes is role of parents. Teens get very little information about the sexuality education from their parents. Bantul has 135 cases of early marriage (LPA, 2012). The survey data of early marriage incidence in Terong Village indicate 21 cases in 2012.Objective: To determine the relationship of parents to adolescent sexual attitudes in Pencitrejo Hamlet, Terong Village, Dlingo Sub-district.Methods: The study quantitative method with cross sectional design. Sampling used purposive sampling with as many as 60 respondents of teens and 60 respondents of parents of teens. Types of primary data with research instrument using questionnaire. Data analysis used chi square.Results: There were 18 respondents of parents have high role for adolescent and teenagers who has parents with high role has positive sexual attitudes. Positive sexual attitudes is adolescent who do not have the attitudes deviation in sexual behavior. Parents who has quite role for adolescent, there were34 respondent, and teenagers with positive sexual attitudes as many as 32 respondents of teens (94,1%) and negative sexual attitudes as many as 2 respondents of teens ((5,9%). Whereas parents who has less role for adolescent, there were 8 respondents, with teenagers who has positive sexual attitudes as many as 1 respondent (12,5%) and negative sexual attitudes as many as 7 respondents (87,5%). Chi square analysis with p value= 0,000.Conclusion: there is a relationship between role of parents to adolescent sexual attitudes in Pencitrejo Hamlet, Terong Village, Dlingo Sub-district and statistically significant (p=0,000).Keywords: role, parents, sexual attitudes, adolescents

Abstract

Background: One of the major causes of maternal mortality in SDKI 2007 was postpartum bleeding, the number was 28% causes by anemia and chronic energy deficiency in pregnant women as the main cause of bleeding and infection. Anemia in pregnant women is signed by a decrease of haemoglobin levels especially in the high-risk age groups such as <20 and > 35 years old. Incidence of abortion in TemanggungHospital since 2008 - 2011 increased from 10% to 21%.Objective: To determine the relationship between the mother’s age and haemoglobin levels during abortion at the TemanggungHospital in 2011.Methods: Analytic observational cross-sectional design. The population in this study were all pregnant women that abortion in the TemanggungHospital in 2011 is 175 samples. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling. The independent variables in this study was mother’s age and the dependent variable was haemoglobin level during abortion. Data analysis using Pearson product moment correlation test with a confidence level of 95% or α = 0.05.Results: The majority of pregnant women who have abortus aged 20-35 years by 65.14% and the highest haemoglobin levels at the time of abortion Hb ≥ 11 g% normal category at 56.58%. Value = ─ 0237 rcount greater than rtable = 0148 while the p-value = 0.0015Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between mother’s age and haemoglobin levels, the result shows negative relationship, and the value of closeness is low.Keywords: Mother’s age, haemoglobin level, abortion.

Abstract

Background: The quality of immunization is closely associated with how the handling and management of such vaccine cold chain maintenance, sterilization equipment and means of immunization immunization. Handling and improper management will no longer cause a potential vaccine to create immunity in infants, but if granted would still result in large losses.Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship of the level of knowledge about the behavior of midwives in immunization with vaccine management in Private Practice Midwives (CPM) in the region Sewon BantulMethods: The study was observational analytic cross sectional approach. The population in this study is the Private Practice Midwives (CPM) serving immunization in practice in the District of Sewon. Samples were taken by purposive sampling techniques, and obtained a number of samples with 50 samples. Data was analyzed using Chi Square statistical analysis.Results: The results showed that there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge about the behavior of midwives in immunization with vaccine management in Private Practice Midwives (CPM) in the District of Sewon Bantul region indicated by the value of P = 0.000 , RP 15.167Conclusion: There is a relationship between the level of knowledge about the behavior of midwives in immunization with vaccine management in Private Practice Midwives (CPM) in the region Sewon BantulKeywords : Knowledge Level; Immunization; Behavior Management Vaccine

Abstract

Background: Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Bantul regency in 2011 increased compared to the year 2010 is 82.07 / 100,000 live births in 2010 to 111.2 / 100,000 live births and the infant mortality rate (IMR) of 8, 5/1000 KH in 2011. Policy and government efforts to reduce maternal and infant mortality, among others, the activities of Mother Friendly Movement (GSI), Strategy Making Pregnancy Safer (MPS) and the procurement of KIA books. KIA book than as a record of maternal and child health, health monitoring tools and means of communication between health workers with patients.Objective: To learn about the utilization of Mother and Child Health (MCH) books by pregnant women in health centers Sewon I.Methods: Type of research is a descriptive study with cross sectional approach. Entire third trimester pregnant women during the month of January to May in Puskesmas Sewon I counted 65 people in 2013, while the sample 40 pregnant women who met the inclusion criteria. Collecting data using questionnaires. Results were analyzed using univariate analysis.Results: Utilization of MCH books seen from the level of knowledge of pregnant women about the books in the category KIA higher by 92.5%, a high level of understanding in the category as much as 67.5%, and visits as recommended by the government as much as 87.5%. Characteristics of pregnant women in the third trimester I Puskesmas Sewon Bantul, Yogyakarta mostly between the ages of 21- 35 years by 85%, the majority of pregnant women educated at the high school last / equal as much as 45%, the majority of pregnant women have parity ≤ 2 by 67, 5%, and the majority of pregnant women living as a Housewife (IRT) as much as 65%.Conclusions: most of pregnant women use MCH book as a media to help them know about their health.Keywords: Utilization of MCH books

Abstract

Background: Perineal rupture that happens during labor contributes for 40% -60% to post-partum hemorrhage. Complications that might occur because the perineal rupture are the longer duration of treatment, the decreasing quality of life for women, the usage of analgesic medicine, and the occurrence of incontinency alvi. The method that can reduce the occurrence of perineal rupture during labor such as perineal massage can be done during pregnancy. However, not all midwives perform perineal massage with many reasons.Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences in attitudes among midwives who did and did not do perineal massageMethod: The design of this study was a mixed method eksplanatories strategy with cross-sectional observational analytic approach to the 32 midwives who performed perineal massage and 68 midwives who did not perform perineal massage. This study was conducted in Surakarta in October-November 2012 with questionnaire which tested the reliability and validity, while Qualitative data collection using in-depth interviews. Quantitative data analysis used the Mann-Whitney test, while the qualitative data analysis be done through transcription, coding, categories, and build themes.Result: The results showed a median score of midwives’ median scores of midwives’ attitudes who performed perineal massage 75.6, did not perform it 77.5 (ZM-W = 1.491, p = 0.136). Based on a qualitative analysis of the dominant factors that caused the midwives did not perform perineal massage were factors of knowledge, motivation and culture.Conclution: It is concluded that the attitudes among midwives who performed perineal massage and did not showed any difference.Keywords: attitude, perineal massage

Abstract

Background: Post partum hemorrhage is bleeding that occurs more than 500 cc in 24 hours after the birth to go. Post partum hemorrhage is divided in two primary post partum hemorrhage and secondary. Post partum hemorrhage occorured more than 500 cc in the first 24 hours are ussualy between 5 to 15 days post partum. Post partum hemorrhage can lead to maternal death if not done the prevention of risk factors.Objective: This study aims to determine the relations of the factors that influence the occurence of post partum hemorrhage at Arifin Achmad in Riau province in 2012.Methode: The research uses a quantitative analytical case control design. Number of 180 subject consisted of 90 180 cases and 90 controls. Measuring instrument used are no check-list table. Unvariate and bivariate data analysis with chi-square test.Result: The result showed that maternal age <20 years and >35 years 2,9 times more at risk than maternal age 20-35 years, with OR=2,991 (95% CI 1,630 to 5,489), parity >4 children 2 times more at risk than parity < 3 children with value OR=2,091 (95% CI 1,145 to 3,819), and obstetrics history with action 2 times more at risk than spontaneous labor with a value of OR=2,275 (95% CI 1,247 to 4,148).Conclusion: The conclusion from this study is that there is a relationship between age, parity and obstetric history with post partum bleeding events.Keyword: Age, Parity and History with Genesis Obstetrics

Abstract

Background: The wrong developmental psychology in spite of pathogenic family patterns will impact sibling rivalry in bad condition. Many parents unknowingly put one of the children who loose in break up a fight between brothers.Objective: This aims of this research was to know parenting relationship with the Sibling Rivalry in Children 1-5 years old in Bejen Village, Bejen Distric of Temanggung Regency 2013.Method: Types of analytic study with cross sectional approach. This study population is mothers with children 1-5 years old. The sampling technique use total sampling, then analyzed by Chi-Square statistic test.The results of that result is obtained that there are 9 respondents of 32 respondents (28.1%) who applicate authoritative parenting, 6 (18.8%) of respondents who applicate authoritarian parenting, and 17 (53.1%) of respondents who applicate permissive parenting. There are 18 children (56.2%) experienced in sibling rivalry and 14 children (43.8%) have no experienced in sibling rivalry. Chi-square analysis with α (0.05), obtained ρ = 0.000.Conclusions: There is any parenting relationship with the incidence of sibling rivalry in children 1-5 years old. It states with the strong power correlation of 0.608.Key Words: Parenting, Sibling Rivalry

Abstract

Background: Materials and modules, learning strategies and the implementation of learning in the field (practice field) correlates strongly with professional skill. One of the methods to increase participation, liveliness and skills student are learning method with the family approach in community midwifery practice. Family approach is expected to provide an effective learning experience for enhancing student competence. Currently, not all midwifery school implementing the approach as part of the activities in community midwifery practice. Yogyakarta academy of midwifery has implemented the family approach as a part of community midwifery practice.Purpose: To show the benefits and challenges of implementating active learning with the family approach in community midwifery practice.Research methods: qualitative study with focus group discussion and content analysis of student field work report. Data analysis using an explanatory building.Result and discussion: in their report, student wrote that they can find the problems in the family, think critically and creatively, practicing effective communication, approach and continuous care. In the focus group discussion, students explain how they feel happy with the famlily approach learning strategy. Its can proveide real experience for midwife in community setting. They felt this strategy would support their midwifery competencies, such as communication skills, problem solving, tend to be longlife learner. Perceived barriers were lack ot time setting to implementation family approach and ask to their lecturer.Conclussions and suggestions: family approach is fun learning activities for students and provide benefits for the improvement of midwifery skill competence in community setting. This strategy is expected to remain in community midwifery practice.Keywords: family approach, home visit, community midwifery

Abstract

Background: South Sorong regency as one of the districts in the province of West Papua is highly needed health workers because there shortage of midwives. Yogyakarta Midwifery Academy has been cooperating with the government in the South Sorong regency since 2009 had been educated 38 and in 2012 had been graduated 25 midwives. The graduates have been placed in South Sorong regency as a midwife, 3 midwives working in district general hospitals and the other working in health centers or as midwife in the village.Objective:The research aimed to find out the performance of Yogyakarta Midwifery Academy graduates from South Sorong regency.Method: The study was quantitative and qualitative research with survey by using questionnaire and interview. The research sample was taken purposively that is the alumni represent their workplace in the helath center or hospital including independent practice.Results:In the amount of 27 Yogyakarta Midwifery Academy graduates working in South Sorong regency, 89.9% worked as a midwife and midwife at the health center, 11.1% worked in the hospital. Midwives who work in the hospital was enough get the knowledge about midwifery care, which needs to be added is the introduction of more modern tools such as ultrasound. The performance of Yogyakarta Midwifery Academy graduatesis good enough in carrying out midwifery care and professionalism.Conclusions:The performance of Yogyakarta Midwifery Academy graduateswho work in South Sorong is good. Performance of midwives who work in the health center or midwife should be given the material beyond the competence because of the limitations of the health worker. There is need additional training for graduates in accordance with the placement.Keywords: performance, midwife
