Abstract

This study is a development research, which aims at developing learning tools using Schoology to enhance learning motivation of students on chemical equilibrium subject which is valid, practical and effective to be applied. The development model used in this study referred to Hannafin & Peck’s development model which consisted  of need assessment, design, development and implementation. The learning tools using Schoology which had been developed; then, it was validated by two experts. After the validation, the tryout of the learning tools using Schoology was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Polewali Mandar in grade XI MIPA 4 with the total of 30 students. The result of the study reveals that the learning tools using Schoology development which had been validated shows the mean score of 3.40 which is in valid criteria. The learning tools using Schoology is stated as practical and effective because the practical test which related to: (1) the implementation of learning tools using Schoology is in M = 1.85 in the category of (1.5 ≤ M ≤ 2.0) meaning that the aspect and criteria observed in the implementation of learning tools using Schoology is in entirely implemented category, (2) teachers gave a very positive response on the learning tools using Schoology by 100%, and (3) the students gave a very positive response on the learning tools using Schoology by 85.49%. The learning tools has met effective criteria with the following result: (1) the enhancement of learning motivation of students is from 72.89% to 84.28%, (2) the learning activity of students with the mean score 91.33 is in very active category, and (3) the learning result of students has met effective criteria (≥80%) with the mean percentage of 85.60% which overall is stated as it has met the minimal completeness criteria of the subject.

Abstract

The research aims to examining the influence of guided inquiry learning model on critical thinking ability and chemistry learning autcomes of students on chemistry bond learning material. This research method uses an experimental method with two treatments. Data analysis using normality test, homogeneity test, hypothesis test and analysis to test the hypothesis was using one way ANOVA at a significant level of 0.05. The ruselt of descriptive analysis obtained the mean score of critical thinking ability and learning outcome in experiment class by 79.85 and the control class 57.89 whit each of standard of deviation 11.77 and 12.29. The mean percentage of critical thinking ability indicator in experiment class is 83.91 in high category and in control class is 49.63 in moderate category. The result of hypothesis test with t-test at the level of significance α = 0.05 obtained tcount 4.48 > ttable 2.02 and significance (0.001 < 0.05) indicated that the hypothesis is accepted. The conclusion of the study is there influence of guided inquiry learning model on the critical thinking ability and learning outcomes of grade X MIA at SMA Muhammadiyah Luhu on Chemistry Bond learning material.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to discover the influence of learning model and learning motivation on concepts understanding and critical ability of students class XII at SMK Hasanuddin Aviation in Makassar on Colloidal System Subject. This research is quasi experiment research with 2x3 factorial design. The research populations were all the students in class XII at SMK Hasanuddin Aviation in Makassar. The sample was selected by employing random sampling with dependent variables and obtained class XII of Electrical Avionic learned by guided inqury model and class XII Airframe and Powerplant learned by using project based learning. The hypothesis test was conducted by using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The results of this research reveal that: (1) there is influence of guided inquiry model learning and PjbL on students’ concepts understanding; (2) there is influence of guided inquiry model learning and PjBL on critical thinking ability of students; (3) there is influence of high motivation, medium motivation, and low motivation learning on students’ concept understanding; (4) there is influence of high motivation, medium motivation, and low motivation learning on critical thinking ability os students; (5) there is no interaction between learning model and learning motivation on students’ concept understanding; (6) there is no interaction between learning model and learning motivation in influencing critical thinking ability of students.

Abstract

The research aims to discovering the description of understanding concept critical thinking skills of students, the difference of understanding concept critical thinking skills of student, and the correlation between understanding concept and critical thinking skills of students who were taught using discovery learning model and direct instruction on reaction rate material in grade XI MIA at SMAN 8 Takalar. The study was conducted at SMAN 8 Takalar with two classes as research subjects, class XI MIA 1 taught by using discovery learning model and class XI MIA 2 taught by using direct instruction on reaction with 25 students each. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results of the study reveal that 1) the understanding concept on class taught by using discovery learning model was in good category; whereas class taught by using direct instruction model was in moderate category; 2) the critical thinking skills of both classes were in critical categories. Therefore, the conclusions of the study are (i) the understanding concept of students who were taught by using discovery learning model had gain average higher than the ones using direct instruction model, (ii) the critical thinking skill of student who were taught using discovery learning model had gain average higher than the ones taught using direct instruction learning model, (iii) there was correlation between understanding concept and critical thinking skill of students taught by using discovery learning model and direct instruction learning model.

Abstract

The study is Research and Development (R&D), which aims at designing Chemistry learning device SMA (senior high school) based on problem to improve conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills of students on Thermochemistry material and discovering whether the quality of Chemistry learning device product has met validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The development model used in this study referred to 4-D development model by Thiagarajan which covered 4 stages, namely (1) define, (2) design, (3) development, and (4) dissemination. The device developed in this study: Lesson Plan (RPP), Student’s Workbook (LKPD), and Learning Test (THB). The result of the study reveal that each stage of the result of development referred to the procedure of learning device development model based on problem. The device developed has met the product quality, namely 1) device validity with the mean score 3.68 in very valid category, 2) the practically which covered: a) learning device implementation with the mean score 1.77 in ‘entirely implemented’, b) learning management of teacher with the mean score 3.68 in good category, c) teacher’s response on the device was 3.75 in practical category and with no revision, and 3) the effectiveness covered: a) the student’s learning activity was 91.1% which met very good criteria, b) the student’s response was 80% which met very responsive criteria, c) conceptual understanding test with the mean score of pretest 18.6% in very low category, the mean score of posttest 87.5% in high category, and the result of N-gain 0.8 in high category, d) critical thinking skills with the mean score of pretest 18.3% in very low category, the posttest was 77.9% in high category, and the result of N-gain 0.73 in high category.

Abstract

The study is quasi experiment which aims at examining the influence of learning model and metacognition awareness on learning autocomes of grade X at SMA Islam in Ternate city on chemistry Bond subject. The study employed 2x2 factorial research desaign. Samples consisted of two classes selected by employing random sampling technique and obtained grade X IPA 1 as the experiment class 1 taught by using guided inquiry learning model and grade X IPA 2 as experiment class 2 taught by using problem-based learning model. The research instruments used questionnaire of metacognition awareness inventory and learning result test. Data obtained were analyzed inferentially and descriptively. The results of inferential analysis reveal that (1) the learning model gives influence on learning outcomes with significant score of 0.01<0.05, (2) The metacognition awareness give influence on learning outcomes with significant score 0.008 < 0.05, (3) there is interaction of learning model and metacognition awareness, proved by the significant score 0.014 < 0.05. Then, the results of descriptive analysis indicate that (1) the mean score of learning outcomes taught using guided inquiry learning model is higher than problem-based learning model, (2) the mean score of learning outcomes with high metacognition awareness is higher than the mean score of learning outcomes with low metacognition awareness, (3) there is interaction between learning model and metacognition awareness in influencing learning outcomes of grade X IPA at SMA Islam in Ternate city. Therefore, there is influence between learning model and metacognition awareness on learning outcomes of grade X at SMA Islam in Ternate city on Chemistry Bond subject.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to produce inqury-based animated multimedia to improve chemistry learning outcomes in the reaction rate material, to find the quality of multimedia animation, and to find the responses given by both students and educators to the multimedia animation developed. The type of research used is  Research and Development (R & D), with the type of Plomp Model where the Plomp development model consists of five stages, namely: (1) initial inevestigation stage, (2) design stage, (3) stage of realization, (4) the stage of testing, evaluation, and revision, (5) the implementation phase. The data analysis technique used in this  research is a quantitative method using a questionnaire instrument student activity observation sheet, and Model Validation Sheet. The results of content validation were analyzed using Gregory method by using 2x2 Tabulations. Futhermore, the results of the  evaluation of the contents of the interpretation of the multimedia feasibility of the animation developed. Multimedia quality produced by referring to Nieveen’s criteria, namely validity, practice,and effectiveness Based on the validation of expert validators and education practitioners as well as detailed trials that have been carried out shows that multimedia animation developed are considered appropriate to be used as media learning.

Abstract

This study included quasi-experimental research with the research design to be used, namely Pretest-Post Control-Group Design, which aims to determine the effect of inquiry learning models internalized Qur'anic verse verses on Islamic character and understanding the participants' chemical concepts students of class XI MIA MAN 2 Barru. The research subjects were the XI MIA 2 class as an experimental class which was taught by the model of internalized inquiry of the verses of the Qur'an and the XI MIA 1 class as a control class that was taught by the inquiry model without internalizing the verses of the Qur'an. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results showed that; 1) The average value of the Islamic character of the experimental class aspects of gratitude, honesty, courtesy, and humility in the experimental class does not have very few criteria while in the control class has less and less criteria, 2) Percentage of understanding the concept of reaction rate in the class being taught with the inquiry model internalized the verses of the Qur'an is 78 in the good category while for the class taught by the inquiry model without internalizing the verses of the Qur'an the reaction rate is 69 in the sufficient category, 3) The test results The hypothesis for Islamic characters α = 0.05 obtained a value of tcount 6.067 > ttable 2.003 and significance (0.000 < 0.05) indicating that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, while testing the hypothesis for understanding the concept with t-test at a significant level, α = 0.05 obtained the value of tcount 2.117 > ttable 2.003 and significance (0.034 < 0.05), indicating H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. From the results of this study it can be concluded that the use of inquiry learning models internalized by the verses of Al'qur'an influences Islamic character and understanding of students' concepts.

Abstract

This study is research and development, which aims at developing diagnostic test instrument on atomic structure material. The research subjects were the students of grade X MIPA 3 at SMAN 22 Makassar with 34 respondents  consisted of 15 male students and 19 female students. The procedure of instrument development adopted ADDIE development model which covered several stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the study reveal that the validity of instrument is 1 or V= 100%, meaning that assessment from boths have strong relevancy and the result of SPSS version 23.0 also indicates that the instrument is in valid category. The result on SPSS also obtain Cronbach’s Alfa 0.872 (reliable category); whereas, the objectivity is determined based on the agrrement of both expect which reveal that the result is in objective category. The remedial can be conducted using drill method for calculation question the leaning method uses the media in a form of a video for theoretical questions.

Abstract

The research aims to improve students learning achievement on the subject of stoichiometric in the class X MIPA SMAN 2 Siak Hulu. This research method uses a quantitative approach. Data analysis using normality test, homogeneity test and analysis to test the hypothesis was using t-test right side. Based on the analysis of data processing obtained tcount > ttable is 2,33 > 1,67 means that the implementation of cooperative learning model TAPPS (Thinking Aloud Pair Problem Solving) can improve students learning achievement on the subject of stoichiometric in the class X MIPA SMAN 2 Siak Hulu with categories of achievement improvement learning in the experimental class based on Score  (N-Gain) is high, which is 0.8.
