Abstract

This research aimed to observe the effect of guided inquiry learning model through the utilization of school environment toward student scientific literacy on biodiversity concepts. This research  was a quasi-experimental research that using randomized control group, pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique used in this research was simple random sampling at one high school i Serag City, Indonesia with class X MIPA 5 as an experiment class and class X MIPA 4 as control class. The result of the scientific literacy was analyzed used t test on significant level α = 0,05, significance value result was (0,000) 0,05 H0 rejected for competence science and significance value result was (0,004) 0,05 H0 rejected for attitude science. Therefore it can be conclude that there was effect of guided inquiry learning model through the utilization of school enviroment towards students’ scientific literacy on biodiversity concepts.

Abstract

Scientific literacy defines as multidimensional skills that students should have to prepare a life after school. One thing that can improve scientific literacy is the quality of teaching materials. Teaching materials are one of the main components in learning including living cell matter. Currently, teaching materials that are widely used in Indonesia are still in the form of printed teaching materials and according to PISA results, these teaching materials have not a significant impact on students' scientific literacy. Nowadays, technological advances are very rapid and have a very positive impact on life, including in education. One of the benefits is the integration of interactive multimedia as the basis for teaching materials. The purpose of this article is to analyze the students' needs regarding interactive multimedia-based teaching materials containing scientific literacy in the learning of the living cells matter and to analysis of scientific literacy aspects in the previously used teaching materials. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques using questionnaires and interviews. The research subjects used were 3 Biology teachers and 81 students of class XI of science program at one of high schools in Sukabumi City, Indonesia. The results showed that students need interactive multimedia-based teaching materials containing scientific literacy on living cell matter and currently the teaching materials that students use have several components that are not as expected and the components of scientific literacy in these teaching are still not balanced. Therefore, it is necessary to develop interactive multimedia-based teaching materials containing scientific literacy on living cell matter to improve students' scientific literacy.

Abstract

The development of biology as a science and its application in technology that is increasingly rapidly encouraging innovative efforts to use technology results in biology learning. Currently, the biology learning process does not only use a single media but is required to use multimedia. This is done to make it easier for students to understand complex and very complex biological material. The aim of this paper is to provide an extensive bibliometric literature review on “multimedia biology education”. Articles found by Publishing or Perish software (PoP) with a Mendeley database. There are 200 articles found from the Google Scholar database from 2017 to 2021 which are analyzed in this study. The selected references are then managed using reference manager software, namely Mendeley. After managing the database, this research classifies and visualizes it using VOSviewer software. Overall, this review provides an appropriate reference point for further research on “multimedia biology education”. The search results 100 articles were obtained through the GS database and we found 55 articles were grouped from the GS database from 2017-2021 with the keyword 'biology education multimedia. This study aims to find research gaps for research on multimedia biology.

Abstract

Several online learning media have been implemented at one of universities in Bengkulu City, Indonesia, one of which was Google Classroom. This study aims to determine how the motivation and learning outcomes of Biology Education students after being taught using Google Classroom media. This research used a pre-experimental design one group pre-test-posttest. The sample involved was one class with a total of 26 biology education students. Student motivation was measured using a questionnaire instrument, while for learning outcomes using a test instrument. The data obtained were first analyzed for normality test through the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Based on the results of the normality test, it can be seen that the student motivation data shows that the data is normally distributed (with sig 0.194 ˃ 0.05), so it is followed by hypothesis testing through the Paired t-Test. The t-test results show that there is a significant difference in student motivation before and after being taught through Google Classroom with sig 0.000 0.05. On the other hand, the learning outcomes data, the normality test shows that the data is not normally distributed (with a sig value nilai 0.05), so the hypothesis is tested through non-parametric tests, namely the Wilcoxon test. The Wilcoxon test also shows that there is a significant difference in student learning outcomes before and after being taught through Google Classroom with sig 0.000 0.05. Suggestions for further researchers can analyze how the differences and effectiveness of several other e-learning media in learning biology in universities are. In addition, curriculum developers need to pay attention to how to analyze or evaluate online learning.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop the portfolio assessment instruments based on scientific literacy on the concept of the archaebacteria and eubacteria and to know the feasibility of the product. The research method was used Research and Development with research design: problem pontential and data collection, design of product, product development. The result of this research is portfolio assessment instruments based on scientific literacy with content cognitive assessment, affective assessment, psychomotor assessment, lesson plan, portfolio assessment, and presentation product and was judged by expert judgment consist aspect: construction, validity, language, scientific literacy and completeness used expert assessment sheets. The data obtained was analyzed with qualitative and quantitative. Based on the results of the  portfolio assessment instruments based on scientific literacy on the concept of the archaebacteria and eubacteria obtained was 87,8% with category very good and feasible to use.
