Abstract

Depression can happen anywhere, such as happened in Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. During 2022, there have been six cases of depression which caused all the victims to hang themselves and occurred at close intervals, so the district government requires religious figures to provide spiritual guidance to the community to reduce cases of depression in the area. And one of the churches that has implemented guidance is GKE Hosana Buntut Bali, Katingan Regency. This study aims to describe the condition of people with depression and the implementation of pastoral communication in reducing depression rates, especially in GKE Buntut Bali, Katingan Regency. This research used descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used, namely observation, interviews, documentation studies and triangulation techniques. The results of this research found that depression is caused by family problems, economic problems, and even health problems. Furthermore, in implementing Pastoral Communication, the Pastor knows the communicant, maintains openness, uses language that is easy to understand, uses analogies or relevant examples, and maintains solemnity and attention. Thus, the pastoral care carried out produces a healing function, a supporting function, and a complete function that is oriented towards the physical, mental, social and spiritual aspects of the sufferer.

Abstract

Man's fall into sin resulted in the human soul being vulnerable and fragile. If not addressed immediately, it will cause social problems. Returning something to its original condition is the goal of restoration. Not only God, individual participation is the main key to turning things around. Instead of demanding that circumstances change, what is more important is to change your personal perspective in dealing with problems, and that is personal responsibility. This process is called self-healing. By using intrapersonal communication methods, an individual is able to become the best healer for himself. Reflecting on the experience of a psalmist in Psalm 42, psychological values are implied that can be applied in today's life to reduce psychological illnesses, such as depression. Through an exegetical approach and integrating it with psychology, a coping mechanism can be formulated that can help believers to carry out self-healing, as first aid.

Abstract

There are two groups of scholars who discuss Malachi 2:1-3 from different perspectives, namely, the divine perspective and the priestly perspective. These two views have led to the fallacy of dichotomizing the intent of the divine utterance. This article comprehensively correlates these two perspectives, which have implications for believers' decisions, based on the hermeneutic method of studying prophetic literature in the sub-genre of catastrophic prophecy. This article finds that the influence of divine punitive speech has great implications for the factors that influence believers' decisions, namely First, the Listening Factor, which discusses the decision to direct our hearing to the Word of God; Second, the Attention Factor, which discusses the decision to specifically and deliberately provide a sincere heart to fellowship and glorify God; and Third, the Honoring God's Name Factor, as an effect of the previous two factors, which makes every believer choose to honor God's name. The results of this study serve as a warning to every believer, especially to servants of God and ministers in the church as serving priests.

Abstract

This article aims to provide an alternative response to the failure of leaders to create prosperity in the life of the church and society. This alternative refers to an analysis of the story of David's anointing and the God's purpose anointed David when Saul was still king in Israel. This research uses a seeing-through approach. The perspective lens for analyzing the story of David's anointing is the lembä pain in Mamasa, West Sulawesi. The author finds that David's anointing strategy aims to maintain the relationship between God and Israel, and God can express His care through David. This strategy implies the urgency of the leadership system's relationship with God and the leader's awareness as a divine agent in bringing prosperity to many people.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has had a global impact, including in Indonesia, with the emergence of the discourse of “brothers in faith” which has the potential to increase tensions. This study proposes the thesis that this discourse in the New Testament needs to be re-examined through a postcolonial perspective, because it has the potential to perpetuate colonialism based on the genetic linkage of identity. The aim is to conduct a postcolonial critique of the understanding that is too Israel-centric and to develop a more inclusive theology. Methodologically, this study uses a descriptive qualitative study and a postcolonial approach. The results of the analysis show that the historical and theological ties between Christians and Jews/Israel often lead to uncritical support for modern Israeli policies. The church needs to deconstruct exclusive understandings and develop a more balanced perspective on contemporary understandings. In conclusion, the church must shift from exclusive identity to an inclusive-humanist understanding as an agent of transformation that fights for justice for all parties. Further research is recommended to explore the practical implementation of this inclusive theology in the context of the local church.

Abstract

The background of this paper is to present thinking as an activity for interpreting the story of Job through a life in constant suffering. Thinking about suffering is not a new idea in theological circles, but it has always existed, and even suffering is considered an inseparable part of happiness. For this reason, suffering, which is often reflected in cross-cutting ways, becomes a problem when looking at different perspectives of theology, especially those that talk about suffering and hope in the case of Job's life. The story of Job offers insight that suffering is not always synonymous with punishment, but can be a test of faith or a means of spiritual growth. This message is very relevant in the modern era, especially in the face of a crisis situation such as the pandemic, where Christians are reminded to see suffering as part of the divine plan. From an academic perspective, an analysis of Job's suffering expands the discussion on the theology of retribution, by showing the relationship between God and humans as more dynamic than transactional. This understanding can encourage a more mature response of faith in facing life's challenges. The purpose of this study is to find the meaning of humanity and faith, theological retribution, and the mystery of God for human beings in the history of wisdom literature in the Books of Job and the Psalms. This research method is qualitative research with literary study. The results showed that God's justice, though seemingly unjust, is for Jacob and people today a form of God's participation with all love, which is as complete as possible by including suffering as an integral part of the self. Thus, God's wisdom as an emanation of love for every people and creation is a space of reality for people who are far from justice, prosperity, well-being, health and peace.
