Abstract

The mutual fund industry continues to show an upward trend, in contrast to the fluctuating macroeconomic and stock market conditions due to various negative sentiments and economic turmoil, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. This condition is presumably due to investment managers' success in diversifying investment portfolios in various assets. Diversifying and strategically allocating funds to various assets in the mutual fund industry are related to many variables, not just determinants. This study aimed to analyze the effect of global commodity prices such as gold, world crude oil, nickel, and palm oil on the net asset value of Indonesian mutual funds. The composite stock price index and interest rates are used as control variables. This study uses a quantitative approach using the VECM (Vector Error Correction Model) method. The data used is secondary data for 2013–2022, with a monthly frequency. The analysis results show that, in the long term, global commodity price variables significantly affect the net asset value of Indonesian mutual funds. In contrast, global commodity price variables do not significantly affect the short term.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon where the coverage of drinking water in Java in 2019-2020 is still below the standard set by the sustainable development goals. Out of Java's 226 districts/cities, only half have drinking water coverage above the average. This research aims to determine factors influencing drinking water coverage in districts/cities in Java. The data used in this study are secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency and the Directorate General of Finance using a quantitative approach—the multiple linear regression model of this study. The method used in this study is multiple linear regression. The research findings indicate that infrastructure expenditure, the number of poor populations, and DAU significantly influence drinking water coverage, while DAK does not significantly influence drinking water coverage.

Abstract

This study examined how the poverty rate in Yogyakarta Special Region was affected simultaneously and partly by infrastructure, investments, economic growth, and district or city minimum salaries. In addition to time series data from 2014 to 2020, it used panel data with cross-sectional data from five districts or cities in the province of Yogyakarta Special Region. The Fixed Effect Model was the model employed in this investigation. The findings indicate that all independent variables, namely infrastructure, investment, economic growth, and district- or city-level minimum wages, affect the poverty rate simultaneously in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The partial test results indicate that the infrastructure and investment variables have a positive but insignificant effect because they have yet to reach the periphery. In contrast, the economic growth variable has a significant impact.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of earnings per share, debt-to-equity ratio, and changes in net profit on stock return with price-to-book value as a mediator. This research is quantitative, with analytical tools in the form of path analysis and mediation testing using the Aroian test. The population used is the financial sector companies listed on the Indonesia stock exchange. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. With the provisions of the listed Sharia banking sector companies, having verified financial statements and actively transacting shares on the IDX from q2 2018 to q1 2021. Based on the t-test results, the earning per share variable hurts stock returns, but the debt-to-equity ratio and changes in profit do not affect stock returns. In contrast, price-to-book value positively affects stock returns. Earnings per share positively affect the price-to-book value, while the debt-to-equity ratio and net profit do not affect the price-to-book value. The results of the Aroian test found that only earnings per share on stock returns could be mediated by price to book value. Meanwhile, price-to-book value cannot mediate the debt-to-equity ratio and net profit.

Abstract

Since being designated as a Special Economic Zone (KEK), Kendal is expected to be able to become the axis of the economy on the island of Java. The establishment of KEK especially KEK Kendal is expected to stimulate investment and business growth which will have an impact on increasing employment and reducing poverty. Nationally, the purpose of creating KEK is economic equity, especially in terms of income and the competitiveness of national products. The establishment of a special economic zone requires careful preparation and commitment from all interested parties to support the implementation of the area's activities. The preparations include policies and institutions, incentives and financing, as well as infrastructure completeness according to the spatial plan. While special economic zones can offer many benefits, on the other hand many special economic zones have been criticized for their high social and economic costs. The purpose of this research is to formulate an appropriate strategy for the development of the Kendal area as a special economic zone. The SWOT matrix that has been formed has described how the strategy can be carried out in the future.

Abstract

Economic growth is the primary objective to enhance the quality of human resources, societal welfare, and equitable national development within a country. Investment is considered a key determinant in achieving sustainable economic growth. Moreover, to meet developmental expenditure needs, governments often resort to borrowing. Therefore, this study investigates the impact of domestic investment, foreign investment, foreign debt, and state Islamic securities on Indonesia's economic growth. By utilizing secondary data from various reputable statistical institutions such as the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the Fiscal Policy Agency (BPKPM), Bank Indonesia (BI), and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) spanning from 2012 to 2022, this research aims to provide a deeper understanding of the factors influencing Indonesia's economic growth. Multiple Linear Regression analysis is employed to analyze the data in this study. The results indicate that domestic investment does not significantly affect Indonesia's economic growth, while foreign debt is found to have a significant impact on economic growth. However, no evidence exists that state Islamic securities influence Indonesia's economic growth.

Abstract

The 2018–2022 period is one of global economic uncertainty due to the US trade war with China and the economic recession due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These factors put pressure on the financial sector and influence investment behavior. This research aims to determine the influence of five regional stock exchanges in Southeast Asia, China, and the USA, domestic interest rates, and inflation on the IHSG, then compare the periods during the COVID-19 pandemic shock. The research method uses the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The analysis results show that the Southeast Asia regional stock exchange has a significant influence in the long term but no influence in the short term. An interesting finding in this research is that several stock exchange variables and domestic interest rates had different influences before and during the shock of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Inequality between countries has created other issues that closely correlate with a country's economic conditions. Inequality tends to have a clustered pattern in middle-income and high-income countries. This study aims to analyze the impact of education spending, the role of wages, the relationship between inflation, and the impact of unemployment on income inequality in middle- and high-income countries. The data analysis technique in this study uses multiple linear regression. The study results show that the factors influencing income inequality are unemployment and wages. At the same time, education spending and inflation do not impact changes in income inequality.

This research aims to review the green GRDP picture to accommodate ecological quality and the welfare of society. This research uses a descriptive method with secondary data sources from a literature study. It analyzes it in-depth about Green GRDP, which previously used Brown GRDP as a basis for analyzing regional economic growth in Lampung Province. The research results obtained at the level of green GRDP growth have had high economic consequences on the agriculture and plantations sector since environmental constraints corrected them. However, a quality environment can fulfill hope for society for a more decent life. Recommendations that can be given in this study are related to the implementation of green GRDP, potentially accommodating the well-being acquired by society from the agricultural sector and plantations to increase regional economic growth in Lampung Province.
