Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to investigate the relationship between FinTech Lending and Financial Literacy on Crime (fraud, embezzlement, and corruption). This research provides knowledge about the impact of FinTech Lending which can increase crime and financial literacy which can reduce crime. Methodology/approach: This study employs panel data consisting of 34 provinces in Indonesia with observations in 2019 and 2022 due to data availability. The secondary data used was collected from official Indonesian government institutions (OJK and BPS). To achieve the purpose, a quantitative approach and panel data regression analysis methods are applied. Panel data provides more variability, less collinearity among variables, and more degrees of freedom. This can lead to more efficient estimators and more precise inference of model parameters. Based on the Hausman test, the estimated model is Random Effects (RE). Findings: The results of this research show that FinTech Lending has a significant positive impact on the growth of crime, while Financial Literacy has a negative impact on the growth of crime. This indicates that as the use of FinTech Lending increases, crime rates also increase, and higher levels of Financial Literacy help reduce the growth of crime. Practical implications: The results of this research can be used as material for consideration by the government in creating a comprehensive legal framework through the establishment of a Law on FinTech. Originality/value: To the best of the researcher's knowledge, this research is the first research to investigate the influence of FinTech Lending and Financial Literacy on Crime Rates in Indonesia using a quantitative approach, whereas previous research used a qualitative approach.

Abstract

The Suboptimal waste management in Bakipandeyan Village, Sukoharjo, poses significant challenges to the environment and public health. The community’s tendency to dispose of waste without considering its potential benefits is one of the primary causes. This community service program aims to empower residents by converting organic waste into economically valuable products such as ecoenzym and soap bars, while enhancing digital marketing skills. The methods employed include socialization and training on ecoenzym production from fruit peels, soap-making workshops, and the introduction of social media marketing strategies. The program outcomes indicated improved understanding and skills among the community in processing organic waste into high-value products. Additionally, digital marketing training encouraged residents to utilize social media as a promotional tool, enabling their products to reach wider markets. This program successfully motivated the community to independently and sustainably manage waste, contributing to increased economic welfare and environmental sustainability. In conclusion, community empowerment through training, product innovation, and digital marketing proved effective in raising environmental awareness, fostering better waste management practices, and creating new business opportunities for the community

Abstract

This study examines various variables that are thought to affect the Indonesian Happiness Index. The type of data used is secondary data in the form of panel data consisting of 34 provinces in Indonesia with observation years 2017 and 2021. The results of various panel data regression tests show that the most suitable model is the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The results of the study conducted show that the Human Development Index has a significant and positive effect on the Happiness Index, and the Gender Inequality Index has a significant and negative effect on the Happiness Index. Meanwhile, Gross Regional Domestic Product and School Participation Rate 16 to 18 years old are not proven to affect the Happiness Index significantly. An interesting finding in this study is that Indonesian people tend to feel less happy when men and women are given equal equality, because basically people tend to still adhere to a patriarchal culture.

Abstract

This study aims to look at the effect of mining commodity prices and macroeconomic variables on the mutual fund industry in Indonesia with a comparison of 3 different economic periods. Background: Indonesia is known as one of the countries with the largest mining reserves in the world. This potential makes Indonesia one of the countries that is a strategic place to invest. However, in recent years there has been global economic turmoil that has a direct impact on investment, such as the US-China trade war, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Russia-Ukraine war. Based on these events, the question arises whether mining price fluctuations and macroeconomic variables can affect mutual fund investment in Indonesia. Novelty: To the best of the researchers' knowledge, there has been no research linking nickel and copper commodity price variables to the mutual fund industry as well as research using a comparison of 3 economic periods. Research Methods: This research uses time series data analysis with the observation period 2013-2023 and the VECM (Vector Error Correction Model) method with three times of data analysis. This research is based on the utilization of secondary data types obtained from legitimate official Indonesian government institutions (Bank Indonesia, Financial Services Authority, and Central Statistics Agency) and investing.id website. Findings/Results: This study found that macroeconomic variables and mining commodity prices have different short-term and long-term effects on the mutual fund industry in Indonesia. Conclusion: The inconsistency of the variables affecting the mutual fund industry is caused by shocks that occur in different economic periods.

Abstract

The mutual fund industry continues to show an upward trend, in contrast to the fluctuating macroeconomic and stock market conditions due to various negative sentiments and economic turmoil, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. This condition is presumably due to investment managers' success in diversifying investment portfolios in various assets. Diversifying and strategically allocating funds to various assets in the mutual fund industry are related to many variables, not just determinants. This study aimed to analyze the effect of global commodity prices such as gold, world crude oil, nickel, and palm oil on the net asset value of Indonesian mutual funds. The composite stock price index and interest rates are used as control variables. This study uses a quantitative approach using the VECM (Vector Error Correction Model) method. The data used is secondary data for 2013–2022, with a monthly frequency. The analysis results show that, in the long term, global commodity price variables significantly affect the net asset value of Indonesian mutual funds. In contrast, global commodity price variables do not significantly affect the short term.

Abstract

The 2018–2022 period is one of global economic uncertainty due to the US trade war with China and the economic recession due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These factors put pressure on the financial sector and influence investment behavior. This research aims to determine the influence of five regional stock exchanges in Southeast Asia, China, and the USA, domestic interest rates, and inflation on the IHSG, then compare the periods during the COVID-19 pandemic shock. The research method uses the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The analysis results show that the Southeast Asia regional stock exchange has a significant influence in the long term but no influence in the short term. An interesting finding in this research is that several stock exchange variables and domestic interest rates had different influences before and during the shock of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The creative economy’s GDP contribution continues to increase every year, relatively in accordance with the employment. By increasing the creative economy sector, it is expected that it will be able to solve problems in development and eliminate the economic dependence on natural resources. However, efforts to develop the creative economy still have a number of problems, which one of the main obstacles is the role of policy makers or the government. This research aims to further discuss the role of local government in supporting the development and the strengthening of the creative economy in Indonesia. This study applies a qualitative approach with the method of literature study, by obtaining secondary data from articles, journals related to the creative economy and local governments with a total of 51 papers. The data is collected from the Publish or Perish (PoP) application by using literature sources from Google Scholar and Scopus. For data analysis, this study applies content analysis through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data is tested by using source triangulation. The results of the study show that local governments have played an active role in the efforts to strengthen the creative economy sector. Yet, they still have a lot of homework to do in improving the quality of the creative economy sector.

Abstract

Women's participation in the labor force remains a major obstacle in the development of the labor market. In Indonesia, female labor force participation is still below male labor force participation. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the level of female labor force participation in Central Java is influenced by the regency minimum wage, women's education level, and urban population density between 2019 and 2023. The type of data in this study is secondary data from the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS). Using panel data regression analysis with the Fixed Effects Model (FEM), this study employs a quantitative approach. The results show that female labor force participation in Central Java is positively and significantly influenced by the minimum wage, which means that if the district minimum wage increases, the participation rate of female labor in the area will also rise. However, the level of women's education and urban population density do not seem to have a significant impact on female labor force participation in Central Java. There is a need for government intervention by providing equal access to education and employment opportunities and aligning higher education levels with industry needs.
