Abstract

Family economics is a branch of microeconomics that focuses on managing resources to ensure an individual's or small-scale family's survival. It examines how a family's economic status influences their consumption level. It is assumed that as the economic level of a family improves, their expenditures also increase. As household income increases, families tend to purchase more goods and may adopt a more materialistic lifestyle, seeking higher-quality products. This study aims to explore the economic conditions of families with female overseas laborers (TKWs) and understand how their participation in work abroad affects their family's income. The qualitative research method employed in this study utilizes a phenomenological approach, which involves structured interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Primary and secondary data sources are used to collect data. The research findings suggest that the involvement of TKWs has been beneficial in enhancing the family economy. The condition is evident from comparing income levels before and after individuals become TKWs. Women's primary motivation for overseas work is to boost their income.

Abstract

South Sulawesi Province faces a significant problem: economic growth that has not been inclusive. This study analyzes the relationship between foreign investment contribution, fiscal policy, and labor force to inclusive economic growth in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The results of this study show two relationships, namely direct and indirect relationships. Judging from the direct influence. First, FDI and local native income positively affect the level of inequality. However, in contrast to general allocation funds and labor force variables, each negatively affects inequality. Meanwhile, FDI, general allocation funds, and local original revenues positively affect economic growth. However, in contrast to the variables labor force and inequality, each negatively affects the inequality level. When viewed from its indirect influence, FDI, general allocation funds, labor force, and local native income each positively impact economic growth through levels of inequality. The implication of this study is the importance of governments allocating FDI investments for infrastructure development that supports inclusive growth.

Abstract

A country is said to be prosperous if it has the quality of human capital to carry out the production process. According to the Cobb-Douglas production function, the output (Q) of a country is explained by the input functions of artificial capital (K) and labor capital (L). Labor capital will be optimal if a country has quality human capital. Quality human capital will be achieved with good health and education levels. This study aims to analyze the influence of access to electricity, drinking water, and sanitation on Indonesia's quality of human capital in 2010–2019. The quality of human capital in this study is measured using the Human Development Index (HDI). The results of this study show that these three infrastructures have a significant positive effect on human capital. Thus, equal provision of these three accesses is a necessary and sufficient condition for improving the welfare of a country.

Abstract

International trade is the exchange of goods and services between citizens of two or more countries by mutual agreement. However, the increasingly intensive trade can trigger conflicts during trade, which are called trade wars. The current trade war between the United States and China is playing with each other's trade tariffs. This research analyzed the influence of the US-China Trade Balance, ASEAN balance of payments, and imports related to ASEAN-4 economic conditions. This observation selects secondary data from the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), and CEIC Data. The data used in this research is panel data on 4 ASEAN countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand, in 2017-2020. Meanwhile, the analysis technique uses the Common Effect Model (CEM) approach. The final calculation results show that the US-China trade balance and import variables influenced ASEAN-4 economic conditions in 2017-2020.

Abstract

The government provides assistance to maintain the resilience of MSMEs during Covid-19. The research aims to analyze the effectiveness of government assistance to MSMEs and determine appropriate strengthening strategies. The research was conducted in Magelang City, with the research object being 32 respondents receiving BPUM assistance in 2021. Data collection methods were carried out by observation, interviews, and filling out questionnaires. The analysis in this research includes descriptive analysis, one sample chi-square test analysis, Wilcoxon signed rank test analysis, and SWOT analysis. The results show different opportunities for each micro-enterprise to get BPUM assistance based on length of business, type of business, and type of product. Another finding is that BPUM assistance is effective in increasing micro businesses in capital, production, and added value but ineffective in increasing the workforce. Strengthening strategies such as unique products, partner relationships, digital marketing, promotions, improving the quality of human resources, innovation, and exploiting tourism potential are the right strategies to implement.
