Abstract

Background:Infectious diseases are the main cause of high morbidity and mortality rates, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia.Indonesia is abundant with plants that can be used as herbal medicine. Garlic is known as having antibacterial elements, one of them is for Staphylococcus epidermidis  which is one cause of dermal disease. This disease is often ignored in Indonesia because the price of the drug is not affordable by the community. So that garlic should be used as an alternative medicineObjective: This study aims to determine the antibacterial effect of garlic extract (Allium sativum L.) retarding the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis.Methods: This study is experimental laboratory using plate diffusion method of "Postest Ony Control Group Design" design. There are 7 groups, 5 treatment groups and 2 control groups. The concentration of treatment group was 100%, 50%, 25%, 12,5%, 6,25% while for positive control using chloramphenicol and aquadest as negative control. The bacteria used were Staphylococcus epidermidis.Results: The results showed that garlic extract (Allium sativum L.) had an antibacterial effect in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis. The inhibitory zone concentration in the statistical results shows there are significant differences with values p = 0.000 or p <α.Conclusion: The conclusion of the study showed that Garlic Extract (Allium sativum L.) had an antibacterial effect to retarding the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis..Keywords: Staphylococcus epidermidis, garlic, antibacteria

Abstract

ABSTRAKPENGARUH PEMBERIAN EKSTRAK DAUN KLUWIH (Artocarpus camansi) TERHADAP PENURUNAN AKTIVITAS SGPT TIKUS PUTIH (Rattus norvegicus) JANTAN GALUR WISTAR YANG DIINDUKSI PARASETAMOL DOSIS TINGGIBara Pawana Satya NagaraLatar Belakang : Kebiasaan masyarakat Indonesia menggunakan obat-obatan yang mudah didapat seperti parasetamol, dimana parasetamol dijual secara bebas akan menyebabkan penyalahgunaannya menjadi lebih besar.Penyalahgunaan ini berakibat timbulnya efek samping  seperti efek hepatotoksik yang menimbulkan kerusakan pada sel-sel hati. Pengendalian efek hepatotoksi didalam tubuh dapat dibantu dengan mengkonsumsi makanan yang mengandung antioksidan. .Ekstrak daun kluwih (Artocarpus camansi) memiliki kandungan antioksidan seperti flavanoid yang diyakini dapat menurunkan aktivitas SGPT dan mengurangi efek toksisitas hepar oleh parasetmol.Tujuan : Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak daun kluwih (Artocarpus camansi) terhadap penurunan aktivitas SGPT  tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) jantan galur Wistar yang diinduksi parasetamol.Metode : Merupakan post test only control group mengunakan hewan coba tikus putih jantan galur Wistar yang dikelompokkan menjadi 3 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol (-), kelompok kontrol (+), kelompok perlakuan yang mendapat terapi ekstrak daun kluwih (Artocarpus camansi) 500 mg/Kg BBHasil : Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian ekstrak daun kluwih (Artocarpus camansi) dosis 500 mg/kg/BB/hari pada tikus tidak menurunkan secara bermakna aktivitas SGPT pada kelompok tikus yang diberi parasetamol dosis tinggi ( p=0,401 α=0,05) Kesimpulan : Parasetamol dosis tinggi meningkatkan secara bermakna aktivitas SGPT tikus putih (Rattus norveicus) galur Wistar. Pemberian ekstrak daun kluwih (Artocarpus camansi) pada             aktivitas SGPT tikus putih (Rattus norveicus) galur Wistar menurunkan  secara tidak bermakna.Kata kunci : Artocarpus camansi, Parasetamol, SGPT

Abstract

ABSTRAKPENGARUH PEMBERIAN EKSTRAK TOMAT (Lycopersicon esculentum) TERHADAP GAMBARAN HISTOPATOLOGI HEPAR TIKUS PUTIH (Rattus norvegicus) JANTAN GALUR WISTAR  YANG DIINDUKSI MONOSODIUM GLUTAMAT (MSG)Regga Arma VidiyantiMonosodium glutamat (MSG) adalah penambah rasa makanan yang telah banyak dikonsumsi masyarakat di seluruh dunia, tetapi bila dikonsumsi secara berlebih dapat menimbulkan kerusakan berbagai organ, diantaranya adalah hepar dikarenakan didalam hepar terjadi metabolisme obat dan toksikasi. Efek MSG dilaporkan dapat menyebabkan stress oksidatif. Efek toksik terhadap hepar dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya peroksidase lipid, serta perubahan morfologi jaringan hati yang ditandai dengan gangguan arsitektur hati, vakuolisasi, degenerasi, dan atrofi sel hati. Untuk mengantisipasi kerusakan hepar, diperlukan antioksidan. Salah satu sumber antioksidan adalah tomat.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek ekstrak tomat (Lycopersicon esculentum) terhadap gambaran histopatologi hepar tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) jantan galur Wistar yang diinduksi MSG. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 24 ekor tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) jantan galur Wistar yang dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok: (1) kelompok hewan coba yang diberi pakan standar; (2)  kelompok hewan coba yang diberi MSG 5 mg/gBB/hari pada hari ke-1 s/d hari ke-14; dan (3) kelompok hewan coba yang diberi ekstrak tomat dosis 40 mg/kgBB dan MSG 5 mg/gBB/hari pada hari ke-1 s/d hari ke-14. Pada hari ke-15,  hewan coba dikorbankan dan dilakukan pembuatan preparat hepar dan pemeriksaan gambaran mikroskopis. Uji analisis menggunakan Kruskal-Wallis dan Mann Whitney.Hasil uji Mann-Whitney menunjukkan perbedaan bermakna derajat kerusakan hepar pada kelompok hewan coba yang diberi pakan standar (rerata=1) dengan kelompok hewan coba yang diberi MSG (rerata=3,5) (p=0,001). Hasil uji Mann-Whitney menunjukkan perbedaan tidak bermakna derajat kerusakan hepar pada kelompok hewan coba yang diberi MSG (rerata=3,5) dengan kelompok hewan coba yang diberi MSG dan  ekstrak tomat (rerata=3,125) (p=0,344).Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa MSG meningkatkan secara bermakna derajat kerusakan hepar yang digambarkan melalui gambaran histopatologi hepar dan ekstrak tomat (Lycopersicon esculentum) dapat menurunkan secara tidak bermakna derajat kerusakan hepar yang digambarkan melalui gambaran histopatologi hepar karena tomat memiliki flavonoid, vitamin C, fenol, likopen yang berfungsi sebagai antioksidan.Kata kunci : Monosodium glutamat, tomat (Lycopersicon esculentum), gambaran histopatologi hepar. ABSTRACTTHE EFFECT OF TOMATO EXTRACT (Lycopersicon esculentum) IN LIVER HISTOPATHOLOGICAL APPEARANCE ON WHITE  RATS (Rattus norvegicus) WISTAR STRAIN MALE INDUCED BY MONOSODIUM GLUTAMAT (MSG)Regga Arma Vidiyanti               Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is a food flavor enhancer that has been consumed by people all over the world, but if consumed excessively it can cause damage to various organs, including liver because drug metabolism and toxicity occur in the liver. The effect of MSG is reported to cause oxidative stress. Toxic effects on the liver can result in lipid peroxidase, as well as morphological changes in liver tissue characterized by impaired liver architecture, vacuolization, degeneration, and liver cell atrophy. To anticipate liver damage, antioxidants are needed. One of the source of antioxidants is tomatoes.               This study aims to determine the effect of tomato extract (Lycopersicon esculentum) on the liver histopathology on white rats (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar strain male induced by MSG. The samples used were 24 white rats (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar strain male which were divided into 3 groups: (1)  the experimental group of animals fed standard feed; (2) the experimental groups given MSG 5 mg / gBB / day on day 1 to day 14; and (3) the experimental group given a tomato extract dose of 40 mg / kgBB and MSG 5 mg / gBB / day on day 1 to day 14. On the 15th day, experimental animals were sacrificed and liver preparations were made and microscopic images were examined. The Test analysis of this study using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann Whitney.               The results of the Mann-Whitney test showed that there is significant differences in the degree of liver damage in the experimental group given standard feed (mean = 1) with the experimental group given MSG (mean = 3.5) (p = 0.001). The Mann-Whitney test results showed there is no significant difference in the degree of liver damage in the experimental group given MSG (mean = 3.5) with the experimental group given MSG and tomato extract (mean = 3.125) (p = 0.344).               The Conclusions of the results showed that MSG significantly increased the degree of liver damage described by liver histopathology and tomato extract (Lycopersicon esculentum) it  can significantly reduce the degree of liver damage described by liver histopathology because tomatoes have flavonoids, vitamin C, phenol, Lycopene as an antioxidant. Keywords: Monosodium glutamate, tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum), liver histopathological appearance.

Abstract

Background : Every children will go through puberty. Puberty in girls is marked by menstruation, according to WHO 16,8%-81% of woman experience dysmenorrhea during menstruation. Pain is managed by using drugs such as analgesics, sedatives, antispasmodics. Long-term use may be ineffective and it could have bad side effects on the kidneys and liver. The culture of Indonesian people who like to use eucalyptus oil and telon oil to relieve dizziness, nausea and pain. The widespread use of essential oil aromatherapy which underlies this research.Objective : To determined the effect of aromatherapy peppermint essential oil by warm compress methods can reduce menstruation pain in Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Hang Tuah Surabaya students.Methodology : This study uses an experimental research design. This study was carried out using a pretest-post-test control group design. Two groups consist of the intervention group (n = 21) were given peppermint essential oil by warm compresses five days before menstruation and the control group (n = 21) without any intervention. Primary data taken from filling out VAS and VMS pain scale questionnaires on the first day of menstruation after intervention.Results : Based on the results of the Mann-Whitney U non-parametric statistical test between the two groups measured using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), a significance value of p = 0.001 (p <0.05) was obtained , H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, a significant difference in peppermint aromatherapy on menstrual scale of pain in Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Hang Tuah Surabaya students. The statistical test between the two groups was measured using a VMS (Visual Multidimensional Scoring System). Significant value obtained p = 0.001 then p <a, meaning that significant difference in the effect of peppermint aromatherapy on menstrual scale of pain in Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Hang Tuah Surabaya students.Conclusion : The use of peppermint aromatherapy by warm compresses affected the reduction of the visual analogue score (VAS) and VMS (Visual Multidimensional Scoring System) on menstrual scale of pain in Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Hang Tuah Surabaya students.Keywords : warm compress, peppermint, dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

This study aimed to discuss the activity of actinidin in meat tenderization and to understand the ability of actinidin as a substitute for other tenderizing enzymes such as papain. Actinidin could be found in kiwi fruits with a similar structure and proteolytic activity characteristics to papain. The proteolytic activity of actinidin was found to be able to substitute papain in meat tenderizing without creating an off flavor side effect. However, increasing the actinidin concentration could enhance its proteolytic activity. Besides, actinidin also has the ability to hydrolyze collagen proteins and fibrinogens perfectly compared to papain activity.

Abstract

The objectives of this research is the effect of fertilizer dosag and embedding on the yield of corn (Zea mays L). The method of the research use factorial design based on the Randomized Block Design with two factors of treatment. The first factor was fertilizer dosag (without fertilizer (P0), fertilizer dosag 250 kg/ha (P1), fertilizer dosag 500kg/ha (P2)) and second factor was embedding (one time embedding at age 3 week (B1), two time embedding at age 3 and 6 week (B2), three time embedding at age 3, 6 and 9 week (B3)) and each kombination of treatment three times replicated. The result of the research : (1) There was interaction between fertilizer dosag and embedding for parameters  100 seeds wet weight and dry weight of 100 seeds. (2) The highest yield was treatment combination P2B3 (fertilizer dosag 500kg/ha and three time embedding at age 3, 6 and 9 week) for parameters  100 seeds wet weight and dry weight of 100 seeds .(3) The highest yield treatment fertilizer dosag treatment P2 500kg/ha and  embedding treatment B3 two time embedding at age 3 and 6 week.

Abstract

Sweet sorghum is one of the bioethanol producing plants that can be cultivated on dry land with a wide climate range. The study aims to utilize dry land forest areas for the development of several varieties of sweet sorghum as a bioethanol feedstock. The types used are Suri 3, Kawali, Super 2 and Suri 4 varieties which cultivated at various biofertilizer doses per plant, namely 5 g, 10 g, and 15 g. This experiments used Randomized Block Designed factorial followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the Suri 3, Kawali and Super 2 varieties had above-average agronomic and production characters with the highest values at stem height (301.28 cm), stem weight (145.21g), and seed dry weight (39.74 g) achieved by the variety of Super 2.  Varieties of Suri 3  has the highest potential the content of sugar in the stem (16.69%). Suri 4 variety produces the most volume of juice with the lowest of sugar content. The interaction of varieties  and biofertilizer doses was significantly different against the number of nodules, and the highest of nodules number accomplished by Super 2 varieties at a dose of 10 g (11.77).

Abstract

Uwi plants (Dioscorea sp.) as one of the types of tuber plants have the potential to support food diversity and food security in the future because it is very tolerant to be planted on dry land with a huge potential in Indonesia. The research aims to obtain a variety of diversified foods based on uwi plants. The research method used a completely randomized design laboratory scale consisting of six treatments repeated three times. These factors are the various colors of tubers used as research material including dark yellow (orange), yellow, murky white, white, purple and purple spurt. Observations include texture, elasticity, aroma, colour and taste through organoleptic tests. Instant noodles and wet noodles are used as a comparison. The study was conducted in the Agronomy Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Merdeka University, Madiun, from October to December 2018. The results showed that compared to conventional noodles as a control, the appearance of colour, taste, texture and aroma of noodles after being cooked was not much different. Whereas seen from the elasticity of uwi noodles has a lower elasticity. The difference is also in the appearance of raw dried noodles, the color and aroma are still inferior to dry noodles and instant noodles. Thus, uwi flour is potential to be developed as a food ingredient, considering that uwi carbohydrates have a low glycemic index.

Abstract

Mechanization is one form of technology adoption to improve yields in rice farming. The aims of the research to determine the use of agricultural mechanization and its impact on rice farming in Sananwetan Sub-District, Blitar City expected to improve the standard of living and welfare of its group members. The number of samples taken was 50 rice farmers in Sananwetan Sub-District, Blitar City, chosen by using proportional random sampling. Data analysis using the Mann-Whitney Test and the Multiple Linear Regression Cobb Douglas Model. From the results of interviews in this study show that the use of the mechanization of rice farming in Sananwetan Sub-District, Blitar City is still not optimal. This was due to farmers' perceptions of the unsatisfactory results of agricultural machinery performance, a sense of humanity to 'farm laborers', narrow land area and insufficient availability of farm machinery. While from the results of Mann Whitney's test show that pesticide use and labor requirements were smaller and differed significantly in the use of full mechanization rather than partial mechanization. Other than that, the variable cost of the harvest is lower in the use of full mechanization and is significantly different compared to using the mechanism partially. Rice productivity in full mechanization was 782.15 kg / 1000m2 while partial mechanization was 682.87 kg / 1000m2. For farmers' income in full mechanization is IDR. 1,153,407, - per 1000 m2, in the partial mechanization of IDR. 1,590,574, - per 1000m2. From Cobb Douglas model multiple linear regression analysis found that land area (m2), seed costs and the use of mechanization had a significant effect on the income of rice farming in Sananwetan District, Blitar City.

Abstract

The supply chain in the 4.0 era wanted consumers to be closer to producers. Problems that occur in the supply chain are supply chain information flow is still long, there is no transparency, marketing coverage is less extensive, and documentation of activities is not good. The purpose of this study is to analyze the condition of the Kelompok Tani X cocoa supply chain and to identify the attributes of the blockchain based group cocoa supply chain farmers. The method used is the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The results obtained are that the supply chain information flow in the X farmer group is still overlapping, and has not been systematic. Actors consist of farmers, farmer leaders, processing factories (Kelompok Tani X), and retailers. Activities that occur are signing up, logging in, filling content, transactions, shipping, validation, and returning goods.
