Abstract

Background: Frozen shoulder is a musculoskeletal condition characterized by pain and restricted shoulder joint mobility. The purpose of this study was to evaluate how well acupuncture and Juan Bi Tang, a traditional Chinese herbal remedy, reduced shoulder pain and enhanced shoulder function in patients with frozen shoulder in Surabaya, East Java. Methods: 14 female patients with primary frozen shoulder caused by wind-cold-dampness syndrome were included in the pre-experimental design, which included a pretest and a post-test. One group of participants received acupuncture treatment for seven days in a row, while the other group received Juan Bi Tang decoction for the same amount of time. On days 0, 3, and 7, range of motion (ROM) tests were used to measure shoulder mobility, and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) was used to gauge the severity of the pain. Results: Following treatment, the VAS scores in both groups significantly decreased (p = 0.000), according to the results. While there was no discernible difference on day 7 (p = 0.778), the acupuncture group experienced a quicker decrease in pain on day 3 than the herbal group (p = 0.029). Both groups significantly improved their range of motion (p = 0.000), but the acupuncture group had better early results on day three (p = 0.005). Both treatments showed comparable gains by day 7 (p = 0.761). Conclusion: Patients with frozen shoulder found that both Juan Bi Tang and acupuncture helped to improve shoulder function and reduce pain. Herbal therapy showed a similar effect after one week, but acupuncture showed a quicker onset of improvement.

Abstract

Background: Improving nurses’ work productivity is essential to ensure high-quality hospital services, yet labor productivity in Indonesia remains relatively low, highlighting the need to identify factors that influence nurses’ performance. This study aimed to analyze the relationships among work stress, work motivation, and perceived work productivity among inpatient nurses. This study aimed to analyze the relationships among the independent variables (work stress and work motivation) and the dependent variable (perceived work productivity) among inpatient nurses. Methods: A quantitative, cross-sectional design was employed, involving a population of 190 nurses and a sample of 130 respondents selected via accidental sampling. Before data collection began, the questionnaire was tested for validity and reliability. Multiple logistic regression and chi-square tests were used to analyze the data. Results: Most nurses reported low levels of work stress, high motivation, and high perceptions of their own productivity. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between work stress, work motivation, and perceived work productivity (p < 0.05). Furthermore, work motivation was identified as the most dominant factor influencing perceived work productivity, with an odds ratio of 6.999.Conclusion: Both work stress and work motivation are significantly associated with nurses’ perceived work productivity, with motivation emerging as the most dominant factor. Hospital management should prioritize strategies that strengthen intrinsic work motivation and implement adaptive work stress management programs to sustain optimal perceived productivity and performance.

Abstract

Background: The postpartum period is very important in efforts to reduce maternal mortality because most postpartum complications occur during this period. One way to improve the quality of health services at facilities is to reduce wait times. Long wait times can affect patients’ perceptions of service quality and reduce patient satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the correlation between service waiting time and maternal satisfaction during postpartum visits at the Pasundan Health Center in Samarinda City. Methods: The research used a quantitative, cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 191 postpartum mothers selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using patient satisfaction questionnaires and observation sheets recording patient arrival and discharge times, and analyzed using the Fisher Exact test with a significance level of 0.05.Results: The results showed that most of the mothers who received services in the waiting time ≤60 minutes were satisfied with the services provided (89.2%); on the other hand, in respondents with a waiting time of > 60 minutes, most of them stated that they were not satisfied with the service. The results of the Fisher Exact test showed a p-value of 0.001 (p<0.05), indicating a significant correlation between service waiting time and postpartum mothers’ satisfaction. Conclusion: Service waiting time has a significant correlation with maternal satisfaction at postpartum visits. Efforts to improve service efficiency, the queue system, and the quality of health workers’ communication are needed to enhance patient satisfaction and the quality of postpartum services in primary health facilities.

Abstract

Background: Work fatigue is a common occupational health problem that reduces productivity, impairs work capacity, and increases the risk of occupational accidents, particularly among informal sector workers. Workplace health promotion strategies are needed to address this issue. Ergonomic exercise has emerged as a practical intervention to reduce physical fatigue and improve workers’ well-being. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of workplace health promotion through ergonomic exercises on reducing work fatigue among informal palm sugar workers. Methods: A quantitative pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted among 60 informal palm sugar workers at Factory B, a branch production site of CV. Bangkit Jaya is located in Klaten Regency, Indonesia. Participants were recruited using purposive sampling. Work fatigue was assessed using the Industrial Fatigue Research Committee (IFRC) questionnaire before and after the intervention. Ergonomic exercise sessions were implemented 24 times over a 12-month period. Data were analyzed using the paired t-test.Results: Most participants were middle-aged (65.0%), female (57.1%), and had long working experience (83.3%). The mean work fatigue score decreased significantly from 65.40 before the intervention to 40.50 after the intervention, a reduction of 24.90 points. The paired t-test demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in work fatigue following the intervention (p < 0.001).Conclusion: Ergonomic exercise is an effective workplace health promotion strategy for reducing work fatigue among informal palm sugar workers. Incorporating ergonomic exercise into occupational health promotion programs may improve workers’ well-being, enhance productivity, and support sustainable health practices in the informal sector.

Abstract

Background: Anemia in pregnant women remains a prevalent health issue and contributes to an increased risk of maternal and neonatal complications. One factor suspected to play a role is low anemia literacy, which affects pregnant women's ability to understand health information and make decisions about anemia prevention. Low literacy can lead to poor adherence to iron supplementation and suboptimal dietary patterns, particularly in iron intake. This study aims to analyze the relationship between anemia literacy and the incidence of anemia among pregnant women at TPMB Cindy Yosy. Methods: This study employed a correlational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 31 pregnant women selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a validated 20–item questionnaire to measure anemia literacy and hemoglobin level examinations to determine anemia status. The methodology section briefly specifies that the instrument was validated and ethical approval was obtained. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rho test. Results: Most respondents had poor anemia literacy (77.4%) and the majority experienced mild anemia (87.1%). The Spearman Rho test yielded a p-value = 0.000 (<0.05) with a correlation coefficient (rs) = +1.000, indicating a positive association with a very strong correlation between anemia literacy and the incidence of anemia in this sample distribution, which requires cautious interpretation. Conclusion: There is a significant association between anemia literacy and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women. Lower anemia literacy is associated with a higher incidence of anemia in pregnant women.

Abstract

Background: The postpartum period is a critical phase requiring intensive monitoring, as postpartum complications remain a leading cause of maternal mortality, while the coverage of home-based care services in Indonesia remains limited. This study aimed to assess the need for postpartum home care services from the perspectives of postpartum mothers and midwives. Methods: A quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional design and purposive sampling was conducted, involving 100 postpartum mothers and 40 midwives across four regions in Lombok, Indonesia. Data were collected using structured 4-point Likert-scale questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Results: All postpartum mothers (100%) had never received home-based care, with a high level of need (mean score 3.3/4). The highest demand was for perineal/wound care (96%). Midwives demonstrated high readiness (mean score 2.9/4) but faced major constraints: limited portable medical equipment (87.5%), insufficient financial incentives (80%), and heavy workloads (75%). None of the midwives had received specific home care training. Both groups supported the development of smartphone applications with live chat and video education features (scores >3.2), but rejected the complete substitution of in-person visits (mothers scored 2.9/4; midwives 2.5/4).Conclusion: This study is the first quantitative study in Indonesia to simultaneously integrate the perspectives of postpartum mothers and midwives, providing empirical evidence that digital technology serves as a complement, not a substitute, for in-person visits, thereby recommending a hybrid model (home visits, telehealth, and digital education) as the ideal approach. A gap exists between the high demand for home-based care among postpartum mothers and midwives' implementation capacity, which is constrained by systemic factors. National standards, infrastructure strengthening, incentives, training, and integrated technological support are essential to establish effective and sustainable postpartum home care services.

Abstract

Background: Anxiety before childbirth is one of the psychological problems often experienced by pregnant women, especially in the final trimester. This condition can be influenced by various factors, both internal and external, that affect a mother’s readiness to face childbirth.Method: This quantitative descriptive design involves 45 samples of pregnant women in their third trimester who are approaching labor. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling to examine whether there’s a relationship between mothers’ age, education, and occupation and anxiety at the community health center in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara.Result: The research results show that, out of 45 respondents, the P-value from the Pearson chi-square test is 0.018, which is less than 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the factors causing labor and anxiety before labor. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between factors causing childbirth and anxiety before delivery. Factors causing anxiety before delivery include husband support and parity factors. There is a significant relationship between the factors causing labor and anxiety before giving birth. Factors like the age of the pregnant mother, education, and occupation can affect anxiety in pregnant women in the third trimester before giving birth.

Abstract

Background: Preeclampsia remains a major maternal health problem because of its contribution to maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. Interpregnancy interval is an important obstetric factor that may affect maternal physiological recovery and adaptation to subsequent pregnancies. This study aimed to analyze the association between interpregnancy interval and the incidence of preeclampsia among pregnant women. Methods: A quantitative, observational, case-control study was conducted using medical record data from pregnant women registered between January and December 2025. The sample comprised 66 respondents: 33 with preeclampsia (case group) and 33 without preeclampsia (control group). Data were collected using a structured checklist and analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods. The Chi-square test and Odds Ratio (OR) were applied at the 0.05 significance level. Results: Most respondents in both groups were within the non-risk reproductive age range and were multiparous. Risky interpregnancy intervals were found in 87.9% of women with preeclampsia and 21.2% of women without preeclampsia. Statistical analysis showed a significant association between interpregnancy interval and preeclampsia incidence (p < 0.001). Women with risk interpregnancy intervals had a higher likelihood of developing preeclampsia than those with non-risk intervals (OR = 6.042; 95% CI: 2.393–15.256).Conclusion: Interpregnancy interval is significantly associated with the occurrence of preeclampsia. These findings emphasize the importance of pregnancy planning, postpartum family planning counseling, and antenatal risk screening to reduce maternal complications related to preeclampsia.
