Abstract

Background: Maternal stress and inappropriate gestational weight gain are common issues during pregnancy that can raise the risk of negative outcomes for both mother and baby, such as preterm birth, hypertensive disorders, and fetal growth problems. Prenatal yoga is considered a safe, drug-free approach that integrates exercise, breathing, relaxation, and mindfulness to boost mental and physical health. This study aimed to assess how prenatal yoga affects stress levels and weight changes during pregnancy. Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted with a single-group design involving 30 pregnant women in Grogol Village, Sukoharjo, Indonesia. Participants were selected through purposive sampling and attended weekly 45-minute prenatal yoga sessions for a month. Stress was measured using the DASS-21, and gestational weight was assessed according to the Indonesian Integrated Antenatal Care Guidelines. Data analysis involved paired-samples t-tests with a significance level of 0.05.Results: Prenatal yoga markedly lowered maternal stress, with stress scores dropping after the program (p = 0.006). Post-intervention, all participants (100%) showed normal stress levels, up from 83.3% beforehand. Additionally, gestational weight outcomes improved notably (p < 0.001), with the percentage of women gaining appropriate weight rising from 43.4% before to 93.3% after the intervention. Conclusion: Prenatal yoga is a beneficial complementary approach to reduce maternal stress and support optimal gestational weight gain. Incorporating prenatal yoga into routine antenatal care could improve the mother's physical and mental health, leading to better pregnancy outcomes.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a major global health issue that frequently triggers psychological distress, such as anxiety, which can further destabilize blood pressure. Deep breathing techniques promote physiological relaxation by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, whereas positive self-talk therapy helps reduce anxiety by modifying negative thoughts into more adaptive and positive ones. As these interventions target complementary physiological and psychological mechanisms, their combination is expected to provide a more comprehensive effect in reducing anxiety among patients with hypertension. This study aims to determine the effect of combining deep breathing techniques and positive self-talk therapy on anxiety scores among hypertensive patients within the Kersanegara Community Health Center working area, Tasikmalaya City. Methods: This quantitative study employed a quasi-experimental approach with a pretest-posttest control group design. A total of 42 respondents were selected via purposive sampling and divided equally into an intervention group (n = 21) and a control group (n = 21). The intervention group received the combined therapy for 5 days (15–20 minutes per session), while the control group received standard care and health education. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) and analyzed using dependent and independent t-tests.Results: The average anxiety score in the intervention group significantly decreased from 22.05 to 13.71 (p = 0.000). Meanwhile, the control group showed no significant reduction, changing from 21.05 to 20.29 (p = 0.217). The post-intervention independent t-test confirmed a significant difference in anxiety levels between the two groups (p = 0.000).Conclusion: The combination of deep breathing techniques and positive self-talk therapy is highly effective in reducing anxiety among hypertensive patients and can serve as an alternative non-pharmacological nursing intervention. This intervention may be incorporated into routine nursing care and community-based hypertension management programs, particularly in primary healthcare settings, to help nurses manage anxiety among hypertensive patients.

Abstract

Background: Childhood injuries remain a leading public health concern worldwide and frequently occur in school environments. The ability to provide appropriate first aid immediately after an injury is essential for reducing complications and improving recovery outcomes. This study investigated the effectiveness of a structured, school-based educational intervention in improving first-aid competency among elementary school students. Methods: A quasi-experimental study employing a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design was conducted among 144 elementary school students selected through purposive sampling. Participants were allocated into an intervention group (n = 72) and a control group (n = 72). Students in the intervention group received a structured first aid education program delivered over three consecutive days using a validated learning module, while the control group continued routine school health activities. First aid competency was assessed before and after the intervention using a validated questionnaire. Data were analyzed using paired-samples and independent-samples t-tests, with statistical significance established at p < 0.05.Results: The intervention and control groups demonstrated comparable baseline competency scores prior to the educational program. Following the intervention, the intervention group exhibited a marked improvement in first aid competency, whereas no meaningful change was observed among students in the control group. Comparative analysis confirmed that post-intervention competency scores were significantly higher in the intervention group than in the control group (p < 0.001).Conclusion: Educational programs in schools effectively enhance children's skills in providing first aid for injuries.

Abstract

Background: Rising competition among hospitals has heightened the importance of effective marketing strategies to improve patient satisfaction. Nonetheless, the success of these strategies relies not only on marketing efforts but also on patients’ experiences during healthcare delivery. This study investigates the crucial role of patient experience in linking hospital marketing to patient satisfaction within both public and private hospitals in Malang Regency, Indonesia. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out with 403 patients, consisting of 100 from a public hospital and 303 from two private hospitals, chosen via proportionate stratified random sampling. Data collection employed a validated and reliable structured questionnaire. Hierarchical Multiple Regression analyzed how patient experience adds to the link between hospital marketing and patient satisfaction. Results: The findings revealed that hospital marketing significantly influenced patient satisfaction, accounting for 34.1% of the variance. After patient experience was incorporated into the regression model, the explanatory power increased to 64.1%, representing an additional 30.0% of explained variance. In the final model, patient experience demonstrated a stronger effect on patient satisfaction than hospital marketing, indicating its substantial contribution to improving the model’s predictive ability. Conclusion: The patient experience plays a vital role in strengthening the link between hospital marketing and patient satisfaction. Hospitals need to coordinate their marketing strategies with efforts to enhance patient experiences, including providing responsive service, reducing wait times, improving communication between patients and staff, and fostering a safe, comfortable, and patient-focused setting.
