Abstract

Abstract. The integration of waste management systems into village tourism business models is essential for sustainable tourism development. Jalatrang Tourism Village in Cipaku District, Ciamis Regency, has developed various edu-tourism attractions under the theme of environmentally-aware integrated agriculture, culture and nature tourism. However, waste management remains a significant challenge. This study aims to formulate a concept for integrating waste management into the tourism business model of Kampung Bungur. The research employs a qualitative deductive approach using the Circular Business Model Canvas (CBMC) framework by Lewandowski (2015), adapted from the Business Model Canvas (BMC). Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman interactive analysis, supported by NVivo 12 source triangulation. The results show that waste management can be systematically embedded into all nine CBMC elements through a zero waste tourism concept. Key interventions include: constructing an integrated waste bank, installing a WWTP for batik production, providing refill stations, supplying separated waste bins, and offering zero waste trip packages. This integration not only transforms waste into economic value through compost, eco-enzyme, and recycled souvenirs, but also differentiates Kampung Bungur as an eco-tourism destination aligned with the Triple Bottom Line principles (People, Planet, Profit).

Abstract

Abstrack. Mining activities leave a lot of abandoned and unproductive land. Hence, the local government and the community rehabilitate and reuse ex-mining land to be more productive through tourism development. This study measures the benefits of tourism development under ex-mines to the community's socioeconomic and environmental sustainability based on the assessment of local communities as beneficiaries. This study takes the case of ex-mining tourism development, Aik Rusa' Berehun in Terong Village, Belitung Regency, Indonesia. This study used a quantitative approach using scoring methods and descriptive statistical analysis to explain an accurate and factual result based on community judgment. The data was processed from the results of a questionnaire of 95 respondents who were selected by random sampling with a proportional number representing each neighborhood unit around tourist areas. This study concludes that the development of ex-mining tourism has a high effect on improving the socioeconomic conditions of local communities and the environment around ex-mining lands. Indirectly, tourism development influence increased income, business opportunities, facilities, and infrastructure to support socioeconomic activities, and then the preservation of local culture as well as the environment under ex-mines. Moreover, this benefit is obtained because it is collaboration and community empowerment. Even so, these tourism activities are still an alternative economic activity for rural communities, and farming, gardening, and sailing are the main income. Thus, alternative tourism innovations involving main community activities are needed to create a larger multiplier effect.
