Abstract

The students' low interest in reading and the lack of students' understanding of reading without pictures led to the need for developing comics as a medium of learning. The purpose of this research is to create comic media in the learning of fable stories for second-grade elementary school students. The type of research used is development research. This development study utilizes the ADDIE model, which consists of Analysis, Design. Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research subjects consisted of 1 learning media expert and 1 learning design expert. The test subjects included 2 teachers and 1 student. The methods used in collecting data are observation and questionnaires. The instrument used in collecting data is a questionnaire. The technique used to analyze the data is descriptive quantitative. The result of the research is that the material expert test got a percentage of 86.00% in the very good category with very decent information. The trial of learning media design experts at a percentage of 90.00% with a very decent description and very good category. The teacher's response to the use of media is 89.00%, and the students are 90.40%, with both categories very good. It is concluded that the comics developed are suitable for use in second-grade elementary school students and can increase students' reading interest.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the difficulties of the teacher in implementing online learning, which makes students less enthusiastic and less able to understand the material in online learning, so the development of interactive video media is needed. This study aims to produce interactive video media for grade three elementary school number line materials tested for validity. The development model used in this study is the ADDIE model. The subjects in this study consisted of 1 teacher and four dose experts who were experts in their fields as media experts and material experts, and 12 students consisting of 3 people as individual tests and nine students as small group tests. The method of data collection in this study is the method of questionnaires and interviews. The data generated in this study are qualitative and quantitative. The data obtained were then analyzed using the mean formula to determine the average validation of interactive video media. The development of interactive video media was declared valid based on the assessments of media experts, design experts, material experts, individual test students, and small group students with an average range of 4.01 < X 5, with the qualification "very good.” Thus, it can be indicated that the interactive video product is declared valid and suitable for use in learning, especially on the number line material for third grade of elementary school.

Abstract

Kurangnya ketersediaan media pembelajaran yang memenuhi ketersediaan materi dapat berpengaruh pada proses pembelajaran, khususnya pada muatan pembelajaran IPA. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran pop-up book  pada muatan IPA kelas IV dengan Topik Bagian – Bagian Tubuh Hewan dan Fungsinya gugus IV Kecamatan Bangli tahun pelajaran 2020/2021. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian pengembangan (RnD) yang menggunakan model ADDIE (analyze, design, development, implementation,  dan evaluation). Namun pada tahap implementasi dan tahap evaluasi tidak dilaksanakan karena adanya pandemi covid-19 dan pembelajaran dilaksanakan dengan sistem daring. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuesioner dengan memberikan lembar penilaian kepada empat ahli yaitu ahli materi, ahli media dan dua ahli praktisi. Subjek uji coba dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 2 orang ahli keterterimaan, dan 2 orang praktisi. Data yang telah diperoleh kemudian dianalisis menggunakan rumus Gregory yang telah dimodifikasi untuk mengetahui keterterimaan media pop-up book yang telah dikembangkan. Nilai yang diperoleh dari keempat ahli tersebut adalah 1,00 dengan kualifikasi keterterimaan produk sangat tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis yang diperoleh maka dapat dikatakan bahwa media pop-up book pada muatan IPA kelas IV dengan Topik Bagian – Bagian Tubuh Hewan dan Fungsinya dinyatakan  valid dan dapat digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

The lack of availability of learning media that can meet the needs of learning materials can affect the learning process. This study aims to design a prototype and produce an interactive learning media product based on Sparkol Videoscribe on the theme of caring for living things in fourth-grade elementary school, tested for validity. This type of development research uses the ADDIE model (analyze, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). However, the implementation and evaluation stages were not carried out due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and learning was done using an online system. The trial subjects of this development research were two subject content design experts, 2 learning design expert lecturers, 2 media expert lecturers, 1 fourth grade teacher, and 9 students. Meanwhile, the object of this research is the acceptability of the pop-up book media that has been developed. The method used in this research is a questionnaire method by giving assessment sheets to 2 subject content design experts, 2 learning design expert lecturers, 2 media expert lecturers, and 1 fourth grade teacher and 9 students. The data were analyzed using the mean formula to determine the average validity score of the developed media. Based on the results of the analysis of validity tests by experts and teachers, the sparkol video scribe-based learning media on the fifth-grade ecosystem of elementary schools was declared valid with an average score of 3.82 and was suitable for use in learning. Based on the analysis results, the sparkol video scribe-based learning media on the theme of caring for living things in grade IV SD is suitable for use in the learning process.

Abstract

Antecedent strategy as a part of the evidence-based practice is obtained through the process of students interfering behaviour analysis. This part of evidence-based practice which also named as antecedent-based intervention has a purpose to help the teachers in managing student disruptive behavior as one of the biggest challenges in classroom management by making a significant change to the learning environment which trigger the problem behavior and expounding the behaviors that should be done by the students. The antecedent strategy is very helpful for the teacher in managing students' disruptive behavior as one of the biggest challenges in EFL classroom management. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the employment of antecedent strategy for managing behavioral challenges in EFL classroom management. The method used in this study was library research in which the data were collected through a reading process of some library sources then analyzed by integrating the obtained information and the researcher's idea to answer the purpose of this research in finding section and draw the conclusion. The findings of this study revealed that in employing the antecedent strategy in a classroom, there are three major steps that the teacher needs to follow namely conducting a Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA), clearly expounding the proper behavior, and effectively deciding preventive action.

Abstract

Higher education in India is vibrant as it assumes greater role interns of building the nation. As enrolment ratio is less, Govt through Universities and colleges promote higher education and the reach is now in rural areas too. To enrol more number of the students has become a target for the colleges and faculties’ working there, as a result to increase the quantity, less attention is paid towards the quality of higher education. The higher education is associated with the tasks such as assignment writing, dissertations to full fill the requirements of the particular degree and these are graded to improve the research habits among the students and at the same time to enhance the quality of higher education which also contribute for the development of certain skills among student community. There are agencies and individual involved to assist the students by providing the service of writing the assignments and dissertations for certain prescribed amount of money. There are academic writers (Ghost writers) who provide such readymade assignments and dissertations to the students. In this paper attempt is done to find the students perception and at the same time their experiences of ghost writers are studied. The study is concentrated in Mangalore city of Karnataka State students those who perused higher education and undergone dissertation while perusing their master degree.

Abstract

Little effort has been expended on studying the role of feedback in accounting education. While most concerned consider that any precise information about students' thinking has value, such beliefs have not been empirical. They are using data generated by computerized databases that offer on-demand solutions to problems in management accounting courses. This research aims to analyze the feedback and its value in the Management Accounting course. The context for this research is an introduction to management accounting courses offered at major public universities in the Southeastern United States during the final semester. Two student sections taught by the same instructor opened 143 students majoring in accounting. The methods used to collect data are quizzes and tests. The technique used to analyze the data is descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. The result of this research is that there is a positive relationship between the frequency of access to feedback and higher academic performance. The timing of student access to solutions depends, in a meaningful way, on mastery of the material. The longer a student waits to demand a solution, the worse their performance will be. Important feedback on the effect of effort (H3 and H4) can provide additional or alternative meaning when juxtaposed with the significance of the non-hypothesized relationship between effort and performance.

Abstract

Metacognition is an individual's ability to apply, and experience previously acquired to operate knowledge related to learning. This study aimed to develop 5E metacognitive RPP (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate) in education and validate 5E metacognitive RPP with expert judgment. This type of research is development research. The research subject is a content validity expert. The test subjects were students in high school. The methods used in collecting data are interviews and questionnaires. The instrument used to collect data is a questionnaire. Questionnaires are used to collect data in the form of data provided by experts. The technique used in analyzing the data is descriptive qualitative, and quantitative analysis. Content Validity Ratio (CVR) is used as a quantitative measure to understand the content validity of the developed lesson plans. The results of data analysis are based on feedback and comments from experts and students. The final lesson plans are prepared. The overall content validity ratio of the developed learning plan is 0.73. So, the CVR value ranges from 0.6 to 0.8, so it can be seen that the lesson plans have good content validity. It was concluded that it could be used to teach high school students.

Abstract

Professional learning communities are commonly as a viable model for on-going and productive teacher learning. However few studies have investigated how such communities develop to become fully functional and sustainable learning communities. This study investigated features of a developing teacher professional learning community and opportunities for learning. Five mathematics teachers in one township primary school in South Africa and the two authors of this paper constituted the professional learning community. Transcripts of the audio-recorded meetings constituted the data analysed in this paper.  Data analysis was done using the critical incidence approach. The findings indicate that the teachers shifted from passive to more active participants. They gradually perceived themselves as a community, sharing thinking and co-creating new meanings collaboratively. The facilitators’ roles gradually shifted from leading and intervening and probing. Opportunities for learning were created with respect to knowledge of learners’ problem solving needs, and specific instructional practices to address those needs. The findings indicate that the development of effective and sustainable professional learning communities is a gradual process that takes time, and involves shifts in roles by both facilitators and teachers.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought challenges and opportunities to teaching in higher education. The sudden pivot from in-person to online education posed unprecedented challenges to both teachers and students. At the same time, the sudden worldwide suspension of traditional ways of lecturing opened a space for experiments with innovative pedagogic approaches and techniques, including various forms of real-time inter-university exchange and student cooperation. COVID-19 pandemic caused a sudden and disruptive shift to emergency remote learning and teaching, as well as a simultaneous halt to international mobility of students, faculty and staff. These changes to established modes of teaching and learning in higher education along with the de facto end of all international mobility efforts led global health course directors from York University in Canada and Fulda University of Applied Sciences in Germany to establish a globally networked learning environment involving shared virtual lectures and international collaborative group projects. Students reported benefits of an enriched learning experience through the sharing of different perspectives, approaches and debates with international professors and peers. Coordination relating to time differences and expectations played a key role in success and overcoming challenges for collaboration among students. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that cross-border inter-university teaching and learning is a feasible and beneficial pedagogic option.
