Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out if there is any correlation between students' habits in listening to English songs and the listening skills of the eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 6 Sigi. This quantitative research applied a correlational research design. The researcher used simple random sampling. In this research, 32 students were chosen as the sample. The researcher gathered information through questionnaires and tests. Both instrument data analyses showed a Pearson Product Moment of 0.567. The Category was moderate. The value of the r-table was 0.349. rxy is more than rtable, according to the statistics. The alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, while the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. This indicates a correlation between students’ habits in listening to English songs and the listening skills of the eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 6 Sigi.

Abstract

The school system's primary concern and essential function are improving students' academic performance and producing a pool of skilled human resources to help grow and develop a nation. Despite how vital economics is to society, several factors determine students' choices and interests, among which spatial and numerical abilities are significant. This has led to students’ inability to cope with real-life situations, self-independent, and basic entrepreneurial skills. The paper examined spatial and numerical abilities as correlates of academic achievement in Economics. Four research questions guided the study with three instruments to collect data analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and regression analysis at a 0.05 significance level. The results revealed that the mean of all items is higher than the criterion mean of 0.50. Students had a high level of spatial ability (0.50 < 0.91), but performance in numerical ability was poor (0.50 > 0.43). The relationship between the independent variable revealed a significant positive relationship (r= 0.17, p<0.05(0.00)). There was a significant effect of independent variables on the dependent variable (F(2,997)= 41.093; p<0.05(0.000)). Teachers should be trained on how to incorporate spatial ability in economics classes.

Abstract

Fraud is one of the behaviors that are a problem in every country, both in developing and developed countries. This study aims to review financial statement fraud research development to provide findings on financial statement fraud trends in Indonesia. Researchers used a qualitative method with literature review techniques on several journals indexed by google scholar, garuda, sinta 2, and sinta 4 during 2016-2021 in Indonesia. The total number of studies reviewed was 15 journals. This study concludes that the three elements of the fraud triangle impacted financial statement fraud for eight company sectors during 2016-2021. Pressure, followed by opportunity and rationalization, has the most substantial impact on financial statement fraud. Meanwhile, external pressure, organizational structure, change in auditor, and auditor opinion do not affect the occurrence of financial statement fraud. These findings open up opportunities for future research to present literature on studies with a broader range of sectors and other fraud analyses (fraud diamond, fraud pentagon, and fraud hexagon) in Indonesia. This research aims to provide findings in a literature review of financial statement fraud trends in Indonesia.

Abstract

Teachers’ beliefs about their capabilities can impact the quality of implementation of education policies. The inclusive education policy is not an exception in this case. This study explores teachers’ beliefs about their capabilities to teach inclusive early childhood education (ECE)classes under the inclusive education policy. This study has conceptualized this belief as inclusive teaching efficacy. A Qualitative approach with a sample of 15 ECE teachers and two educational officers was interviewed using a semi-structured interview guide. Data were analyzed using interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA). The major themes from the analysis reveal interesting insights into teachers' beliefs about their capabilities to handle inclusive ECE classes. Their capabilities were influenced by knowledge, exposure, training, and CPDs, among other emerging themes. This study demonstrates the need to prepare teachers for the implementation of policies or policy changes in Education. Most importantly, the study targets teachers’ self-beliefs, which feeds into their motivation and quality implementation of the inclusive education policy. It was recommended that inclusive ECE teachers be exposed to inclusive CPDs and that training institutions beef up curricula to equip teachers with adequate knowledge to manage inclusive ECE learners.

Abstract

In light of the current circumstance, this study aimed to look into the difficulties and adjustments educational institutions and organizations underwent during the COVID-19 epidemic. The methodology used in this study was qualitative. Data was collected using Key Informant Interviews (KII) and two focus group discussions. Five participants in the group talks and six in the KII provided the evaluated and analyzed data. Theme-based triangulation and visualization techniques were used to classify and present the collected data. According to the findings, respondents were concerned about how COVID-19's consequences on enterprises, educational institutions, organizations, and individual employee income will affect their ability to operate. Organizations, especially those in educational sectors, have altered work schedules and restrictions, imposed social distancing during the supply of goods and services, and changed workflows. Abstract

The study assessed the relationship between students’ engagement and Grade 6 Food Processing students' competencies concerning their perception of the comic-based supplementary material. Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) has minimal studies about such concepts, so further research is needed.  A description-correlation research method involving 30 Grade 6 students and a researcher-made questionnaire was utilized in data gathering. The findings revealed that the comic material was positively recognized by the students with an overall mean of 4.76 with a verbal interpretation of “strongly agree,” while the overall mean of perceived student engagement after using the instructional material was 4.72, with the category "highly engaged" reflects that the material helped the learners to be engaged in learning the subject. Furthermore, the relationship between the perception of the use of comic material and engagement was significant, with a high positive correlation r=0.82. It implies that as students utilized the comic material, their engagement increased. Similarly, it was found that student's perception of the comic material was partially significant to their competencies with moderate association r=.39. This is because of the non-significant result of the correlation between the comic and other variables in competencies such as content, presentation, and accuracy. Nonetheless, the material still contributed to learners’ acquisition of acceptable grades in Food Preservation 6

Abstract

English language as a medium of instruction has been popular under globalization. English is now a popular medium of instruction and a major subject in Cambodia because most higher education institutions (HEIs) have adopted it as a common language for a learning curriculum. However, teaching English effectively has also been a concern in Cambodia because learners are not proficient or fluent in English. Moreover, most English classes have been taught by fresh graduates with little English teaching experience, and some instructors even teach subjects not in their field. Therefore, this study surveyed 265 year-4 TEFL students at three universities by asking them to rate their instructors’ teaching effectiveness. Instructors’ qualifications, content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, pedagogical skills, and personal and interpersonal characteristics are used to examine students’ perceptions of effective TEFL instructors. The study showed higher percentages of students’ positive perceptions of the five domains of effective TEFL instructors. The findings are also consistent with the results of previous studies, suggesting that these qualities and characteristics should be must-have criteria for TEFL instructors in higher education. Thus, educational institutions should create certain criteria for selecting qualified university instructors. The findings can help the institutions develop human resources with these quality aspects or elements when selecting effective English language instructors. HEIs can use these criteria based on the results of this study, while TEFL instructors need to develop or improve themselves to have these qualities and other attributes for English teaching.
