Abstract

Childcare (hadhanah) in Indonesian Islamic family law remains predominantly constructed within biological family relationships, particularly through Article 105 of the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI), which places parental figures as the primary holders of custodial rights. This construction becomes problematic when parents and extended family members are unable to provide adequate care for neglected children. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the legal position of Article 105 of the KHI and the scope for its reinterpretation concerning non-family caregiving institutions, examine the juridical and Islamic legal foundations that may support pesantren as alternative caregiving institutions, and formulate a normative construction of institutional hadhanah. Methodology: This study employs normative legal research with a library research design, using statute and conceptual approaches. Primary legal materials include Articles 105 and 156 of the KHI, Law Number 35 of 2014 on Child Protection, Law Number 18 of 2019 on Pesantren, and Government Regulation Number 44 of 2017 on the Implementation of Child Care. The materials were analyzed through descriptive-analytical, textual, systematic, and teleological interpretation. Findings: The study finds that Article 105 remains the principal legal basis for parental hadhanah, but a systematic interpretation with Article 156 and child-protection regulations provides normative space for alternative caregiving when family-based care fails. Pesantren may be considered within this framework, but their status as hadhanah institutions is not automatically recognized under existing law. The proposed model requires five institutional ahliyyah criteria: legal legitimacy, adequate caregiving facilities, pedagogical and psychological competence, reliable child monitoring, and communication with biological families. Implications: The model requires judicial authorization, periodic supervision, and clearer regulatory standards to ensure accountability and protection of the child’s best interests. Originality: The novelty of this study lies in developing institutional hadhanah as an institutional-functional reinterpretation of Article 105 of the KHI by integrating Islamic family law, maqashid al-shari‘ah, child-protection principles, and the institutional characteristics of pesantren.

Abstract

Environmental sustainability has encouraged companies to integrate environmental responsibility into their accounting and business practices through the implementation of green accounting. This study aims to examine the effect of green accounting, represented by environmental costs and environmental performance, on the profitability of manufacturing companies in the consumer goods industry sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. A quantitative approach was employed using secondary data obtained from corporate annual reports for the 2019–2023 period. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, resulting in 32 companies and 160 firm-year observations. Environmental costs and environmental performance were used as independent variables, while profitability was treated as the dependent variable. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, partial t-tests, simultaneous F-tests, and the coefficient of determination with SPSS 26. The results indicate that environmental costs have no significant effect on profitability (t = 0.498; p = 0.619), while environmental performance also has no significant effect on profitability (t = 0.701; p = 0.484). Simultaneously, environmental costs and environmental performance do not significantly affect profitability (F = 0.375; p = 0.688). These findings indicate that the green accounting indicators examined in this study have not become major determinants of corporate profitability during the observation period. The results suggest that the financial benefits of environmental initiatives may not be directly reflected in short-term profitability and that other financial and operational factors may play a more substantial role in determining corporate profitability.

Abstract

Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are increasingly expected to move beyond investment-oriented development toward innovation ecosystems that integrate talent, technology, creative production, markets, and collaborative governance. This study aims to analyze the development strategy of the Singhasari Special Economic Zone (SEZ) as a creative and digital innovation hub through a collaborative ecosystem approach. A qualitative instrumental case study was employed using document analysis covering the period from 2019 to July 2026. Data were obtained from government regulations, official government reports, publications of the Singhasari SEZ management entity, policy documents, and relevant scholarly literature. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by source triangulation. The findings indicate that the Singhasari SEZ possesses strategic foundations derived from its technology and tourism mandates, Greater Malang's talent and educational ecosystem, creative production activities, digital technology capabilities, and national and international partnerships. However, several gaps remain in ecosystem specialization, talent-to-market integration, anchor demand, financing and intellectual property services, collaborative governance, performance measurement, and regional linkages. The study proposes seven strategic pillars: specialization-based positioning, an integrated talent pipeline, AI-native production and experimentation, market-driven cluster development, financing and intellectual property, collaborative governance and data, and place-based and global connectivity. The study concludes that the Singhasari SEZ should strengthen its role as an ecosystem orchestrator that connects policy, talent, technology, creative production, investment, markets, and regional-global networks to generate sustainable innovation and economic value.

Abstract

Contemporary city branding remains dominated by government-centered, one-way communication, while Generation Z increasingly creates and shares city narratives through digital platforms. Previous Indonesian studies rarely integrate participatory communication, digital storytelling, user-generated content (UGC), and Generation Z within heritage branding. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the shift toward participatory city branding and formulate the Participatory Digital Heritage Branding Model (PDHBM) for Bandung Heritage. Method: A qualitative literature review and conceptual analysis of 31 scholarly sources published between 2000 and 2024 was conducted using thematic coding, conceptual synthesis, and model-building. Findings: The study identified a shift toward multidirectional communication, with digital storytelling and UGC strengthening authentic heritage narratives and Generation Z acting as co-creators. Implications: Local governments should act as facilitators of participatory digital ecosystems. Originality: PDHBM integrates government strategy, Generation Z, digital storytelling, UGC, public engagement, and heritage brand image within one conceptual framework.

Abstract

Modern convenience stores must provide fast service and maintain the quality and availability of ready-to-consume food and beverages to meet customer expectations. Long cashier queues during peak hours and the occasional unavailability of popular products may reduce customer satisfaction and encourage customers to choose competing stores. Although previous studies have examined service quality and product quality, evidence from a convenience-store setting in an urban mixed-use area remains limited. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the partial and simultaneous effects of service quality and product quality on customer satisfaction at FamilyMart Gold Coast PIK, North Jakarta. Method: This quantitative explanatory study involved 180 customers aged at least 17 years who had purchased food or beverages at the store. Respondents were selected using convenience sampling. Data were collected using a 36-item, five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using validity and reliability tests, Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, multicollinearity, Glejser heteroscedasticity, linearity tests, multiple linear regression, partial t-tests, simultaneous F-tests, and the coefficient of determination. Findings: Service quality had a positive but insignificant partial effect on customer satisfaction ((B = 0.021); (t = 0.487); (p = 0.627)). Product quality had a positive and significant effect ((B = 0.298); (= 0.713); (t = 12.216); (p < 0.001)) and was the dominant variable. Simultaneously, service quality and product quality significantly affected customer satisfaction ((F = 99.152); (p < 0.001)), explaining 52.8% of its variation. Implications: Store management should prioritize product freshness, taste, cleanliness, consistency, and the availability of popular products during peak hours while maintaining transaction speed and responsiveness. Originality: This study provides outlet-specific evidence on the relative importance of service quality and product quality among frequent customers of a convenience store located in the Gold Coast PIK urban mixed-use area.
