Abstract

Writing is a complex language skill because it requires mastery of structure, idea development, and accurate linguistic rules. In the context of the Independent Curriculum, the ability to write popular scientific articles is crucial for strengthening the literacy of junior high school (SMP/MTs) students. However, classroom learning practices still show low structural regularity and idea development due to minimal gradual guidance. This study aims to describe the implementation of the scaffolding approach in teaching popular scientific articles to eighth-grade students at MTsN 2 Bungo and identify supporting and inhibiting factors. This study used a qualitative research type with an instrumental case study design. Data were obtained through learning observations, document analysis of 32 student articles, and interviews with teachers and students. Then, they were analyzed descriptively through stages of reduction, categorization, and thematic interpretation with triangulation of sources and techniques. The results showed that scaffolding was implemented gradually through providing intensive assistance in the initial stage, simplifying tasks, providing examples and feedback, and reducing assistance (fading). Most students were able to structure texts in a more organized manner, develop ideas logically, and show improvements in linguistic aspects and writing independence. It was concluded that the scaffolding approach effectively improves the quality of the writing process and products while encouraging students' learning independence, and is relevant to the learning principles in the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

The Reading to Learn (R2L) pedagogy, consisting of preparatory reading, in-depth reading, collaborative construction, and independent construction, was developed in Australia with the aim of helping students understand academic texts and find useful information within them. This study was designed using a quasi-experimental method with a control group design aimed at testing the extent to which the Reading to Learn (R2L) pedagogy is able to improve students' ability to write well-structured news texts. This study involved 74 seventh-grade students from MTsN 3 Kota Jambi. The research participants were divided into two groups, namely the experimental class (grades VII-9) which consisted of 37 students and the control class (grade VII-4) which also consisted of 37 students. Students in the experimental class were given learning based on the Reading to Learn (R2L) pedagogy, while students in the control class used conventional learning methods. The results of the analysis showed a significance value of 0.000 (Sig. <0.05), which indicates that the Reading to Learn (R2L) pedagogy provides improvements to students' news text writing skills compared to conventional methods. The Reading to Learn (R2L) pedagogy has high flexibility and adaptability to be applied across cultures and languages as a strategic approach, because it is able to bridge the literacy gap while strengthening students' academic text construction skills in various international educational contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the integration of digital media in the teaching of istima' skills to strengthen the basic language Arabic literacy of students at Pondok Pesantren Ash-Shiddiqi. In the globalized era, using digital technology in language learning has become a growing trend. However, its application in a pesantren setting requires adjustments to remain aligned with traditional values such as talaqqi, adab, discipline, and the development of religious character. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design to explore the process of implementing digital media tools such as YouTube, ChatGPT, and Quizizz in the teaching of istima’ skills. Data collection techniques involve observation, interviews, and documentation. Research shows that integrating digital media in a focused and context-appropriate way can boost students' learning motivation, improve word understanding, enhance meaning comprehension, and increase their active participation in the learning process. In addition, the support for teachers' digital skills and the availability of facilities like tablets are key factors that support the success of the implementation. This study concludes that integrating digital media while still valuing the unique traditions of pesantren can serve as a bridge between traditional learning methods and modern approaches, making it effective in strengthening the basic Arabic language skills of santri, especially in the area of istima’ skills.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology requires innovation in anesthesia nursing education, particularly in transitioning conventional documentation of anesthesia nursing care (ASKAN) into electronic formats. To support this need, the AREME application was developed as a tool to assist students in documenting ASKAN across different phases of anesthesia care. Previous versions of the system were limited, as documentation features only covered the intra-anesthesia phase. This study addresses those limitations by expanding the application to include comprehensive documentation from pre-anesthesia through post-anesthesia. Using a Research and Development (R&D) design with a Rapid Application Development (RAD) approach, the study produced new modules and interface improvements. Specifically, a post-anesthesia documentation feature was integrated, enabling outputs that encompass both intra- and post-anesthesia phases. The findings demonstrate that the AREME application has been successfully enhanced to meet user needs, improve documentation completeness, and support more effective recording of anesthesia nursing care.

Abstract

Anesthesia Care Nursing Documentation (ASKAN) is a record that contains the actions performed by an anesthesiologist on a patient. In the existing Electronic Medical Record Anesthesia (AREME) application, documentation is limited to intra-anesthesia. This does not align with the guidelines in the Anesthesia Care Nursing Documentation (ASKAN) manual. This study aims to develop the AREME application by adding pre-anesthesia documentation, in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the ASKAN manual. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the Waterfall software development method, which includes the stages of Requirement, Design, Implementation, Verification, and Maintenance. The results of this study produced a new interface and pre-anesthesia documentation in the AREME application, in accordance with the guidelines in the ASKAN manual. System testing was conducted using Black Box Testing with Use Case testing techniques, and the results showed that all system functions operate according to the specified requirements. Therefore, this study successfully developed pre-anesthesia documentation in the web-based Electronic Medical Record Anesthesia (AREME) application.

Abstract

Surgical treatment is an invasive medical procedure that requires anesthesia to reduce pain caused by surgical incisions. Surgical intervention and anesthesia may act as psychological stressors that increase anxiety in patients before surgery. Preoperative anxiety can negatively affect patient comfort and readiness for surgery. One nonpharmacological approach to reduce anxiety is supportive education, which aims to improve patient understanding through structured teaching, guidance, emotional support, and the creation of a supportive learning environment. Methods: This study used a quantitative approach with a preexperimental one group pretest and posttest design. The study population consisted of patients undergoing surgery with spinal anesthesia at a tertiary military hospital in Purwokerto. Participants were selected using purposive sampling. Anxiety levels were measured using a preoperative anxiety assesment instrument consisting of six statements rated on a five point Likert scale. Results: Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon signed rank test showed a significant difference in anxiety levels before and after the supportive education intervention, with a negative test statistic value and a probability value below the significant threshold. Conclusion: Supportive education was effective in reducing anxiety levels among patients undergoing surgery with spinal anesthesia.

Abstract

Nurses are the healthcare professionals who most frequently handle injectable medications packaged in glass ampoules. The conventional method of opening ampoules manually using fingers poses a risk of occupational injury, particularly cuts caused by sharp glass fragments. Therefore, innovation is needed to enhance nurses’ self-protection during the ampoule-opening procedure. This study aims to develop an innovative device called the Pocket Ampoule Cutter (PAC) to improve nurses’ self-protection. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The validation process involved three nursing experts and one occupational health and safety (OHS) expert, while the implementation stage involved ten nurses at RST Wijaya Kusuma Purwokerto. Data were collected using validation sheets and user evaluation questionnaires based on a Likert scale to assess aspects of safety, ease of use, comfort, design, material quality, maintenance, hygiene, and overall feasibility of the device. The validation results showed that the PAC achieved an average feasibility score of 95.83%, which falls into the “very feasible” category. Meanwhile, the implementation results based on nurses’ assessments showed an average score of 93.33%, also categorized as “very feasible.” These findings indicate that the PAC effectively improves nurses’ protection by minimizing direct hand contact with broken ampoule glass and facilitating a safer ampoule-opening procedure. In conclusion, the Pocket Ampoule Cutter (PAC) is considered a feasible, practical, and safe device that can enhance nurses’ self-protection during the ampoule-opening process.

Abstract

The phenomenon of arisan as a trust-based fund-raising mechanism is widespread in society, but its practice is prone to abuse through manipulative schemes that result in collective losses. This study aims to analyse the forms of criminal liability for perpetrators of arisan default by examining the fulfilment of the elements of criminal fraud and embezzlement. The research method uses a normative juridical approach supported by empirical data from case handling at law firms. The results show that a series of tricks, unauthorised control of funds, and failure to fulfil payment obligations indicate the cumulative fulfilment of the elements of Article 486 and Article 492 of the Criminal Code. Criminal liability is imposed on the perpetrator based on the offence of intent with the aim of obtaining unlawful gains. This study confirms that failure to pay arisan, preceded by the manipulation of trust, is not merely a civil breach of contract, but a criminal act.

Abstract

The development of information technology has driven fundamental transformations in legal practice and the working patterns of the legal profession. The digitalization of the judiciary through e-Court, the use of social media, and online legal communication have reshaped the way advocates deliver legal services. These developments enhance efficiency and access to justice; however, they also generate new ethical challenges that may undermine the integrity and professionalism of advocates. The Indonesian Advocates’ Code of Ethics, as a normative instrument, is required to remain relevant to the evolving dynamics of digital legal practice. This study examines the relevance of ethical regulations in responding to digital legal practices and the need for their reinterpretation to preserve the dignity of the legal profession. The research employs a normative legal method with statutory and conceptual approaches. The findings indicate that conventionally oriented ethical regulations have not fully addressed ethical issues arising in digital spaces, particularly concerning social media, online publications, and the use of artificial intelligence. Therefore, a reinterpretation of the code of ethics that is adaptive to technological developments is necessary, without abandoning the values of officium nobile, in order to strengthen public trust in the legal profession.
