Abstract

Sago plant (Metoxylon SP) for the community in the Regency of the Meranti Islands has an important role in the life and economy of its people. The prospect of developing the sago business in Meranti is still promising because   The land used has only reached 43% of the available land,  and management can still be optimized.  Sago processing that is currently operated is still running conventionally. That is, it only produces sago starch products. Its by-products in the form of waste from the pulp (repu) and skin (uyung) have not been optimally utilized. This study aims to optimize the processing of by-products into high-value products through improving sago management towards the concept of a zero waste industry in the Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province. The results of the research that has been carried out show that it is necessary to add a process flow to the processing so that the resulting sago repu is not wet. The resulting dried sago repu will expand its utilization. From supporting studies, the results of studies  that have been carried out show that fermentation using  Trichoderma can increase protein by 18-22%. Using this Trichoderma mushroom, sago pulp can be used as animal feed or as raw material for biomass

Abstract

The use of traps is one of the environmentally friendly pest controls. Insects have a preference for the colour of objects. The research aims to determine trap colours' effectiveness in catching rice plant pests. The research was conducted from  June to July 2021 in Depok, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. The study used a descriptive observational method on an 8-week-old rice planting area. The colour traps used are white, red, green, yellow, and blue.  The experiment used a completely randomized design with five replications. The results showed that the yellow trap produced the most insect catches, namely 545 insects, and the white colour produced the lowest catch of 74 heads.  Pests that are heavily trapped in a row from the most to the least are Hydrelia sp, Leptocorisa oratorius,  Nephotettix virescens,  Pareaucosmetus sp, and Nilaparvata lugens. The most trapped is Hydrellia sp, as much as  78% of the total trapped insect pests. Effective trap installation time in the morning.

Abstract

Sumberbrantas village is one of the areas located in the highlands which is one of the potential for potato commodity development. The high potential of the region is also supported by the willingness of farmers to cultivate potatoes. The purpose of this study was to determine the marketing channel for potato commodities and the efficiency level of marketing institutions for potato commodities in Sumberbrantas Village, Bumiaji District, Batu City. This study uses the Cluster Random Sampling method. In this study only covers the city of Malang and Batu city. The samples that will be used as respondents in the study are 30 potato farmers, 2 collectors, and 4 retailers. Data analysis used descriptive analysis, marketing margin analysis and Farmer's Share analysis. The results of this study are farmers - collectors - retailers - consumers. The marketing margin value for each potato in this marketing channel is IDR 3,500. The share value or profit share is 90.76% and the cost share is 9.2% so it can be concluded that this marketing channel is logical because the profit share value obtained is greater than the cost share in the marketing channel. The average selling price received by farmers is 9,500/kg. the value of PS or the percentage of farmers' profits is 73.07% of the price at the consumer level, which is Rp. 13,000/kg.

Abstract

This study is to investigate the amount of decision-making participation by smallholders in the palm oil replanting programme as well as the factors that impact the participation of smallholders in this programme. This study was carried out by performing survey research with quantitative methodologies, which included observation, interviews, the use of questionnaires, and documenting of previous findings. The evaluation was carried out in the Kempas District of the Indragiri Hilir Regency between the months of September and December of 2022. In this study, the number of samples was decided to be 38 persons using the technique of Simple Random Sampling from farmers who engaged in the oil palm replanting programme. Data was collected using questionnaires that had previously been evaluated for their validity and reliability. The Likert scale will be used in the data analysis approach to measure the level of smallholder decision making in oil palm replanting initiatives, and multiple linear regression analysis will be utilised in the data processing.According to the findings of the research project, the interpretation of the degree of smallholder decision-making in the oil palm replanting programme was placed in the questionable category 53.4% of the time. After doing a regression analysis. When it comes to smallholder decision-making in oil palm replanting projects, the factors of age, education, farm area, experience, income, social environment, economic environment, and extension activities all play a key role simultaneously. Farming area and years of experience are two of the factors that play a key role in the decisions made by smallholder farmers in the oil palm replanting programme carried out in the Kempas District of the Indragiri Hilir Regency of the Riau Province

Abstract

This study aims to compare the needs of agricultural machinery in rice farming through direct surveys and integrated Planting calendar information systems. This research was conducted in July-September 2020 in Boalemo Regency.   The number of respondents in the study was 54 farmers. Based on the study's results, it is known that agricultural machinery is very necessary. This is stated by 91% of respondents stating they always use agricultural machinery in their farming business. Agricultural machinery, hand tractors, power theresors, and combine harvesters are included in the high category that farmers often use with percentages of 9,  8.15%, 85.19%, and 72.22%. Rice transplanters are still in the low category 40.74%, due to small land ownership and lack of socialization. The use of agricultural machinery can save costs, reduce labour, and speed up work. Based on the calculation of the adequacy status of the hand tractor, rice transplanter, and power thereser is appropriate. However, in the  combine harvester there is a difference in a calculation, manually, the status is less, and in the interactive application the status is saturated. This is due to differences in available tools, and delays in updating data on the planting calendar. So it is necessary to regularly input and repair existing data on the word. Analysis of the B/C ratio of hand tractor, rice transplanter and power thereser is 1. 0, will the business of agricultural machinery is profitable and feasible. While the combine harvester value B/C ratio 1. 0, the exploitation of agricultural machinery is detrimental and not feasible.

Abstract

The ISPO (Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil) framework, which describes best practises for the production of ecologically friendly oil palm plantations, absolutely has to be put into reality. This is of the utmost importance. This study aims to analyse the behavioural intentions of independent small holders located within the Riau Regency in regard to extending their sustainable palm oil enterprises. Specifically, this research will look at how these individuals plan to grow their palm oil operations. Throughout the course of this investigation, structural equation modelling was utilised as a tool for doing both descriptive and inferential analysis (SEM). The findings indicated that attitudes (general attitudes, personal attitudes, emotional values, and intelligence) and perceptions of behavioural control (experience, knowledge, media, and intervention), which in turn influence behaviour, are the primary contributors to farmers' behavioural intentions, which in turn influence farmers' actual behaviour. It is well established that farmers' behavioural intentions are unaffected by subjective norms, including age, gender, education level, income level, and religion. Farmers have started to be encouraged to try to work in groups through the formation of farmer groups and cooperatives as part of the process of fostering and developing oil palm. This is due to the fact that ISPO certification will only be given to farmers who are members of farmer groups or cooperatives. This is due to the fact that certification from ISPO will only be granted to farmers who satisfy the standards of both.
