Abstract

This quantitative descriptive study aimed to characterize diabetes mellitus (DM) cases in Alue Tho Village, Krueng Sabe Subdistrict, Aceh Jaya Regency. A sample of 75 out of 108 families was surveyed over one month to assess community health, including Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) behaviors, associated factors, and potential intervention strategies. Data collection involved structured interviews and questionnaires, ensuring respondent confidentiality. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) behaviors and compare characteristics of individuals with and without DM. The age group of 41-50 years constituted the largest proportion in both groups. Identified health factors such as hypertension, smoking, diet, physical activity, cholesterol, stroke, and heart disease provide valuable insights for developing effective DM management programs in the region. The surveillance of DM cases in Krueng Sabe Subdistrict, Aceh Jaya District, reveals that the demographic distribution of DM is significantly influenced by age and gender. The highest prevalence of DM cases is observed in the 51-60 age group. Despite low proportions of risk factors like smoking and high cholesterol levels, the respondents showed an awareness of healthy living through their vegetable/fruit consumption and participation in physical activities. Notably, no cases of stroke or heart disease were reported among the DM respondents in this surveillance.

Abstract

Childbirth is an important event that is always remembered in a woman's life. The choice of place of delivery will have an impact on the health of the birthing mother. Even though it is supported by good facilities and health workers, it is still found that births are carried out by health workers at home, this happened in Krueng Tho Village, Aceh Jaya Regency. The aim of this research is to analyze the level of knowledge of pregnant women and the attitudes taken in choosing a place of delivery in Krueng Tho Village, Darul Hikmah District, Aceh Jaya Regency. The sample in this study was part of pregnant women in 2011 and 2023. This research is a quantitative type with descriptive analytical methods. Determining the sample size in this study was calculated using a formula of 150 people. The sampling technique uses total sampling. Factors that influence the choice of place and delivery assistance include level of knowledge, income level, attitude, level of education, family support, distance to health facilities and age factors. It is hoped that this research can provide advice for health workers to pay more attention to pregnant women and women giving birth, especially in terms of choosing a place of birth and birth assistance, namely the need to increase attention to health service programs through socializing childbirth in health facilities.

Abstract

Stunting is a significant nutritional challenge among toddlers worldwide. One government strategy to address stunting and improve public health, particularly for children, is the Family Hope Program (PKH). Introduced in 2007, PKH is a conditional social assistance program targeting Extremely Poor Households (EPHs). This program provides cash assistance to pregnant women, toddlers, preschoolers, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach to provide an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the situation and phenomenon under study. Findings indicate that program participants receive PKH assistance for various health-related needs, including prenatal care for pregnant women and educational support for school-aged children. Additionally, assistance is provided to the elderly and disabled. It is recommended that the government enhance preventive measures for the community, especially for residents in remote areas and individuals with limited understanding of health's importance.

Abstract

As stewards of the Earth, humans have a responsibility to protect and manage the environment, creating clean and healthy conditions that support life. While the environment's influence on humans is largely passive, human impact on the environment is notably active, with the capacity to alter it significantly. This study focuses on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) in households, identifying ten key indicators: childbirth assisted by health professionals, exclusive breastfeeding, regular weighing of children under five, use of clean water, proper hand-washing practices, utilization of sanitary latrines, mosquito larvae eradication, daily consumption of fruits and vegetables, regular physical activity, and maintaining a smoke-free home environment. These indicators serve as crucial benchmarks for assessing and promoting environmental health at the household level. This study's findings on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) in households have significant implications for public health, environmental management, and community development. The identified indicators can guide policy-making, urban planning, and health education campaigns, potentially reducing healthcare costs and improving overall well-being. These insights contribute to our understanding of sustainable household practices and their impact on community health, opening avenues for future research and global health initiatives.

Abstract

Rubber (Havea brasiliensis) is one of the many plantation communities in Indonesia, especially in South Kalimantan. Most rubber plant farming communities only use rubber sap as their source of income, even though there are still other than rubber sap that can be used, namely rubber seeds that contain around 40%-50% vegetable oil. The high oil content in rubber seeds can be used as cooking oil. The purpose of this study is to analyze how rubber seed oil processing works simply. This research method is the processing of rubber seed oil by adopting a simple method of making coconut oil, namely from the start of collecting rubber seeds, splitting rubber seeds from rubber seed meat, roasting, drying and drying, crushing and grinding, boiling / heating, oil separation, oil heating for oil purification, Oil output from rubber seeds.
