Abstract

This paper explores how exaggerated discourse is used to construct emotional intensity and ideological meaning in Hussaini elegies. Five extracts of elegies are analyzed in the paper based on the Critical Discourse Analysis, in particular the models of Norman Fairclough and Teun A. van Dijk, along with the theory of Appraisal. The results indicate that emotional expression is realised in a systematic way via somatic imagery, hyperbole, and cosmological metaphors, in which grief is embodied and universal instead of individual. The writings produce a polarized discursive level of morals, which implicitly sacrify martyrdom and declaim wrongdoing. The strategies of these languages work on the social practice level of ritual mourning to develop a sense of collective identity and recreate communal memory. The paper argues that exaggerated discourse is an ideological process which transforms previous trauma into intergenerational emotional heritage and it is by this process that cultural and religious meaning of Karbala is perpetuated.

Abstract

This study examines the anticipated influence of Internet of Things (IoT) applications on digital service quality in the Central Library of the University of Babylon. The research focuses on IoT as an independent variable represented by technical infrastructure, integration with digital services, user experience, and security and privacy. Digital service quality is treated as the dependent variable and is represented by impact on beneficiaries, information control, the library physical and digital environment, and smart interaction. A survey method was used to collect responses from a purposive sample of 209 library beneficiaries. The questionnaire was designed using a five-point Likert scale, and the data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation, and linear regression using SPSS and AMOS. The findings indicate that IoT has a statistically significant positive effect on digital service quality, explaining 46% of the variance. Technical infrastructure, integration with digital services, and user experience significantly contribute to enhancing service quality, whereas security and privacy, although rated highly by users, did not show a statistically significant direct effect in the regression model. The study recommends strengthening technical infrastructure, improving information control systems, integrating digital services, and developing smart interaction features to support user-centered digital transformation in university libraries.

Abstract

Arab countries face many challenges in investing their scientific and research capabilities in order to achieve economic growth and reach the desired development goals. These challenges include the absence of clear policies that link scientific research with development plans, as well as weak funding allocated to scientific research, in addition to weak coordination between universities and research centers on the one hand and economic sectors on the other hand. Brain drain abroad has also led to a lack of competencies and expertise needed to develop and grow local economies, not to mention weak infrastructure and the absence of an environment that supports creativity and innovation, which requires the development of comprehensive strategies that enhance scientific research skills and provide the necessary incentives for scientists and researchers while strengthening the link between academic circles and economic sectors.

Abstract

Few economic puzzles in the developing world are as startling as that of Iraq: a country that has lured hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign investment for two decades, yet where the jobless rate has stubbornly refused to drop below fifteen percent. Figures cannot lie but they may point toward a larger problem that total influx numbers cannot reveal. This essay is based on the paradox and will endeavor to pursue it in an orderly fashion over the years from 2003 to 2025. The paper integrated a story-telling account on the simultaneous or independent variations of investment and unemployment with certain formal econometric tests meant to clarify their relationship. It is not about poverty. Iraq has had the money. The problem is that the revenue it has collected has been channeled mostly into a single sector͏ - oil - which does not create many jobs for Iraqi people, repatriates its profits abroad and shows no interest in developing infrastructure or labor relations that might result in widespread employment. The following results attempt to measure this difference and draw a few concrete policy implications.

Abstract

Trash is still a major problem that causes air and environmental pollution in urban areas, one of which happens at SDN Sukoharjo 1 in Malang City. The lack of environmental awareness from an early age and the careless attitude of not throwing trash in the right place, along with mixing organic, inorganic, and residual waste in one trash bin, are the main triggers for bad odors, which then affect air and environmental pollution around the school. The goal of this research is to improve the knowledge, attitude, and awareness of students at SDN Sukoharjo 1 in Malang city about the importance of sorting waste according to its type before throwing in to the trash, and to produce an educational video based on digital animation about waste sorting that can be used sustainably. The method used was through a participatory approach, including initial coordination with partner schools, need analysis, development of digital animation videos, socialization of waste-sorting, evaluation using pre-test and post-test, and field observations. The research results show that using digital animation videos designed in an interesting way and tailored to the characteristics of elementary school students can improve knowledge, understanding, attitudes, and awareness about sorting waste before disposal for students at SDN Sukoharjo 1 in Malang, and can also support achieving the sustainable development goal on climate action (SDGs 13).

Abstract

One of the common issues that often arises is the lack of legal certainty for land certificate holders. Although they possess a certificate, there are still many cases involving land disputes and unclear ownership status. The Supreme Court Decision Number 643 K/Pdt/2023 and the Decision Number 41/Pdt.G/2017/PN.MMe are evidence of the weak legal power of land certificates, which can still be subject to lawsuits in court. The normative juridical approach, or the legislative approach, is the method used in this research. The data sources used are secondary data, utilizing primary legal materials (laws, government regulations, or government decisions related to this research), secondary legal materials (books, journals, articles related to this research), and tertiary legal materials (legal dictionaries, the Indonesian Dictionary, etc.). The effectiveness of the Government Regulation on Land Registration in providing legal protection for certificate holders has not been fully effective, as there are still lawsuits against certificate holders over five years old. Another reason is that, in the hierarchy of legislation, the Government Regulation on Land Registration ranks below the Judicial Power Law, so the provisions of Article 32 paragraph (2) of the Government Regulation on Land Registration can be overridden by Article 10 paragraph 1 of Law Number 48 of 2009 on Judicial Power.
