Abstract

The Student Matric Card Payment System (SMaCPay) using RFID is an application which utilizes RFID scanner from matric card to record and track the student expenditure at PSMZA cooperative mart. This application is designed specifically to monitor the polytechnic student expenditure record once they purchase at cooperative mart. RFID SMaCPay uses Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology. The RAD model is an effective methodology to provide much quicker development and higher-quality results than those achieved with the other software development methodologies. It is designed in such a way that, it easily takes the maximum advantages of the software development. This application has been developed using HTML and PHP as it language programming, Javascript as it scripting and MySQL as it database platform. This application enables student to make a payment via RFID tag using their matric card and check the balance amount through the application. Student’s tendency for SMaCPay has been evaluated with min score of 1.61 for technical, 2.02 for user interface, 1.75 for data accuracy and 1.71 for accessibility aspect. Nevertheless, usage of current material for the matric card is quite unsecured due to low quality and result the embedded RFID chip within the card easy to damage which will cause to data loss.

Abstract

Problems in education, with the increasingly sophisticated digital world changing the way of teaching. Website is one of the media that can be accessed by everyone and using any technology. This website is a solution for teachers to develop their creativity in developing learning methods and materials. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of providing inspiration for the use of game board websites to prospective BK teachers to be used in the learning process at school. While the purpose of the media that we created is to provide facilities for BK teachers in learning media for teacher creativity. Subjects taken are based on prospective BK teachers. The method used is research and development. In this study, the researcher went directly to the field to make observations, interviews and documenting activities as well as providing a questionnaire via the g-form. The results showed that there was (1) an increase in teacher interest in using learning media as an effective method of delivering material, (2) the application of the website was easy and practical, (3) it was admitted that it was easy to implement the BK program. In addition, there are also inhibiting factors in developing teacher creativity, namely: it requires more costs in its application and takes time to create media.

Abstract

This research aims to study the effectiveness of concept story, a novel teaching tool in science education, as an intervention material in teaching Microorganisms to enhance students’ academic achievement in Grade 7 Biology. It is experimental in nature, intending to explore the effect of the said intervention technique to students’ performance. Quantitative approach was utilized to gather the pertinent data and descriptive method to explore the pre-existing and affected conditions. The researcher developed a concept story integrating lesson about microorganisms and used it, administered a validated test and analyzed the results using z-test to reveal the effectiveness of using concept story. Based on the mean test results, it was revealed that the samples performed better on the test compared to the population on the particular content where the concept story was utilized. Therefore, ascertaining that concept story is an effective teaching tool in science to enhance students’ academic achievement. This study was limited only in the effect of using concept story in teaching microorganisms to improve the academic achievement of grade 7 students in Biology. A total of 121 students from the three sections of grade 7 handled by the researcher were the respondents of this study. It was conducted during the second grading period of the school year 2018-2019.

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to determine the effect of using a new type of mnemonic device, utilizing dance steps in teaching Chemistry 7 in the retention rate of students on the properties of metals and non-metals. Different dance mnemonics corresponding to each property of the two types of elements were developed by the researcher. It was then utilized in teaching. The respondents of the study were the 91 grade 7 students of the two classes of the researcher in Science 7 during the first quarter of the S.Y. 2019-2020. Z-test was the statistical treatment used to compare the results of sample-experimental group to that of the population it was taken from. After utilizing the set of dance mnemonics developed corresponding to different properties of metals and non-metals, the samples performed better on the post-test compared to the population which means that using dance steps as mnemonic device increased the retention rate of grade 7 students. This study was limited only in the effect of using dance steps as a mnemonic device to increase the retention rate of grade 7 students in the properties of metals and non-metals.

Abstract

The My Balas Bag Online System (MBB) is an online platform for recording the accumulation of reward points received by customers who buy in small shops without using plastic bags. The problem statement is that customers are less aware of the dangers of using disposable plastic bags. The second problem is because there is no encouragement from retailer grocery to customers not to use plastic bags and retailer grocery do not have an affordable platform or tools as an initiative to record the accumulation of reward points given to customers who buy without plastic bags. The objectives of this project are to design, develop and implement an online system in real situation. Methodology used is Prototype, whereby the developing of system is simultaneously administered with the implementation. In conclusion, this project helps to reduce using of plastic bag while buying goods

Abstract

To date, issue on graduate employability has been seriously discussed by public. Many factors have been associated with their failure to obtain job upon graduation. One of the factors that usually being highlight is the lack of soft skill among them. They seem unable to acquire important skills such as communication, problem solving, teamwork or leadership skills which is important criteria that the employer looking for. Realising this issue, this game board has been developed and being used during lecture to attract students’ interest and to add to the new teaching methods. Improving or coming out with new teaching method is important to suit with the needs of this generation of students. To date, game-based learning approach is suitable to be used because students can master problem solving skills directly or indirectly during the game session. The idea to developed this board game came when saw the students struggled while doing mock interviews due to lack of understanding and practice, hence cause them to get lower score in the assessment. This teaching aids is specifically designed to enhance students’ understanding of jobhunting skills that consist of job advertisement, resume and interview. This teaching aids is suitable for teaching and learning because it can increase students' understanding, as well as to inculcate students’ interest towards the subject matter, through rapid learning and revision while playing. Due to limited job hunting board games in the market, The Job Hunters is very suitable to be promoted as one of the learning tools, especially in the field of job hunting and communicative English.

Abstract

The pandemic Covid19 has caused conventional system of education which is focusing on physical classroom and face to face interaction between educators and students to alternately change into virtual learning process. The study was conducted to review on the students’ perception of the effectiveness of online learning in Communicative English class among Polytechnic Kuala Terengganu students. A set of questionnaires was used as a data collection tool to 61 respondents. The sampling was Electrical and Electronics Engineering students who took Communicative English Courses. The data was analysed using SPSS version 20.0. The findings revealed that most of the respondents agreed on the effectiveness of online learning in Communicative English Classes, with the mean value 3.2. The mean score for lecturer-student engagement, students’ concentration and motivation and online assessments were interpreted at medium high level. It concluded that students were having good perception on the effectiveness of online Communicative English class implementation. These findings are significant as to support the lecturers and institution in designing more applicable online teaching and learning approaches. However, it is recommended for further researches in the same area involving more sample of respondents, including the other English courses.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, has opened up new possibilities for various applications, including aerial imaging, surveillance, delivery services, search and rescue operations. One particular area of interest is the integration of computer vision techniques with drones to enable autonomous detection and recognition of visual markers or codes. The objective of this research is to design and implement an efficient and accurate QR code detection system using the Tello drone. Our project aimed to develop a solution that only requires a simple vision system to achieve accurate positioning (altitude) in closed spaces. The method is developed in python environment using OpenCV library. This paper presents an efficient method for QR code detection using HSV color space algorithm. Based on experiments and findings, it is recommended to maintain a range of approximately 90cm - 120cm for optimal QR code reading using the Tello drone. This range provides a suitable balance between capturing clear and detailed images of the QR codes and ensuring accurate decoding and recognition. The combination of the Tello drone and computer vision techniques provides an efficient and reliable solution for QR code detection in practical scenarios. Lastly, this research also able to stimulate further innovation in the field and inspire the development of more sophisticated and efficient QR code detection systems using autonomous drones.

Abstract

Landslides are a geomorphological process that commonly occurs in tropical climates. Accordingly, a study has been conducted to determine the level of soil collapsibility in problematic slopes around the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Polytechnic campus (POLISAS), Kuantan. A total of 3 problematic slope locations were involved in this study. The ROM scale is used as a basis in determining the level of collapsibility of problematic slopes around the POLISAS campus, Kuantan. The results of the study show that Location 1 has a moderate level of collapsibility and is categorized as sandy silt soil with high plasticity. While the other two slope locations, namely Locations 2 and 3, are categorized as high level of collapsibility and categorized as sandy silt with intermediate plasticity. The texture composition of the soil dominated by sand and silt was found to greatly influence the level of soil collapsibility at each sampling location. Accordingly, several problematic slopes around the campus area that have not been maintained need to be restored immediately to avoid the possibility of large- scale landslides occurring in the future.

Abstract

Philosophy is a comprehensive truth that is often contested with the truth of science which is relative in nature. This article discusses the influence of the philosophy of education on learning strategies on the Education Technology of Teaching. (PTK). The philosophy of education is the one used in the study of educational problems. Philosophy will determine where our students want to be carried. The philosophy is a tool of values that leads and guides towards the achievement of educational goals. Therefore, the philosophy followed by a particular nation or group of people or by individuals (in this case Teachers) will greatly influence the educational objectives to be achieved. The application of educational philosophy in PTK not only enhances the technical aspects but also builds individuals who have ethical integrity, interpersonal skills and readiness to face the dynamics of global industry. In this case there is the influence of the philosophy of education on learning strategies in the education of professional technology
