Abstract

This study examines directive speech acts used by school principals in educational leadership communication. It aims to describe the forms, functions, and social contexts of directive speech acts employed by the principal toward teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Banawa. This research adopts a sociopragmatic approach using a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews, and recordings of communication interactions between the principal and teachers in various situations, including meetings, coaching sessions, and informal conversations. Data analysis was conducted by identifying types of directive speech acts based on Searle’s theory and interpreting their social contexts through Leech’s politeness principle. The findings reveal that the principal’s directive speech acts take the forms of commands, requests, suggestions, prohibitions, and invitations. Their primary functions are to direct, regulate, and motivate teachers in carrying out their professional responsibilities. Socially, the use of directive speech acts is influenced by power relations, social distance, and communication settings. The principal consistently applies politeness strategies to maintain harmonious relationships and to enhance communication effectiveness within the school environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze transformational leadership practices among school principals in improving school quality in remote areas through a Systematic Literature Review using the PRISMA method. Literature searches were conducted in Scopus and Google Scholar for publications from 2020 to 2025. After screening, twenty-four relevant articles were examined in depth. Findings show an increasing research trend from 2023 to 2025, focusing on learning innovation, teacher performance, and school culture. The four dimensions of transformational leadership, namely idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration, were adapted to geographical constraints and limited resources. Implementation strategies include fostering an innovative school culture, optimizing local resources, strengthening teacher capacity, and building a shared vision through effective communication. Main challenges involve limited infrastructure, variations in principal competencies, resistance to change, and insufficient policy support. Transformational leadership positively impacts teacher retention, motivation, professional performance, learning innovation, and organizational culture. The study implies that strengthening transformational leadership in remote schools requires developing adaptive leadership capacities that respond to contextual limitations. These findings provide a foundation for adaptive leadership models that are relevant to the conditions of remote areas.

Abstract

Financial management is a key element in supporting the success of Islamic educational institutions, which must reflect Islamic values such as trustworthiness, transparency and justice. This study aims to analyze the integration of Quranic values in the financial management strategies of Islamic educational institutions. Using a descriptive qualitative approach based on literature study, this research identifies relevant Quranic principles, such as trustworthiness (QS. Al-Baqarah: 282), transparency (QS. At-Taubah: 105), and careful planning (QS. Al-Hasyr: 18). The results show that effective and efficient financial management of Islamic educational institutions requires the implementation of structured stages, namely planning (budgeting), implementation (accounting), and evaluation (auditing). Each of these stages must be carried out in accordance with Islamic values that emphasize trustworthiness, justice, and responsibility. In addition to these stages, the principles of transparency, accountability, effectiveness and efficiency are the main basis for financial management. By integrating systematic stages and principles based on Islamic values, Islamic education institutions can create professional, responsible and sustainable financial management to support quality and moral education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine junior high school students’ mathematical representation abilities through a literature review of empirical research discussing forms of representation, influencing factors, and the instructional models used to enhance these abilities. The analysis indicates that visual, symbolic, and verbal representations remain the primary components explored in mathematics learning, with many students still struggling to connect these forms effectively. Prior studies suggest that such difficulties are influenced by learning styles, prior knowledge, and limited exposure to non-routine problem-solving tasks. Various instructional models, such as Realistic Mathematics Education, Contextual Teaching and Learning, problem-based learning, discovery learning, and technology-supported media including GeoGebra and mathematics comics, have shown positive effects on improving representational performance. The literature also emphasizes the importance of teacher scaffolding and contextually relevant learning materials in strengthening students’ representational understanding. Overall, this review highlights that mathematical representation ability is a crucial foundation in junior high school mathematics. The development of instructional strategies that encourage exploration and meaningful connections across representation forms must be further strengthened. Future research is encouraged to adopt mixed-methods approaches to provide a more comprehensive understanding of students’ representational processes.

Abstract

This study aims to map trends in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education learning, examine its effectiveness, and identify key implementation challenges. A qualitative approach was employed using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. Literature was collected from academic databases and platforms, including Google Scholar, Sinta, and DOAJ, covering publications from 2020 to 2025. Relevant national and international journal articles were selected using keywords related to AI, higher education, learning, effectiveness, and challenges. The selected studies were systematically analyzed through an SLR table and synthesized as primary data for the results and discussion. The findings reveal a significant increase in AI adoption, particularly generative AI, in higher education learning. AI is commonly used as a learning assistant, discussion facilitator, and support tool for assessment and academic administration. Its effectiveness is reflected in enhanced student engagement, learning autonomy, and institutional efficiency. Nevertheless, challenges persist, including ethical issues, limited AI literacy, infrastructure constraints, and the lack of adaptive regulatory frameworks. These results indicate that AI integration can improve educational quality when supported by clear policies and ethical governance.
