Abstract

The low mathematical problem-solving ability of Indonesian students is often attributed to learning designs that neglect students' cultural backgrounds, making the material feel abstract and less relevant. This study aims to synthesize research findings regarding the implementation of Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) and ethnomathematics in improving the mathematical problem-solving abilities and self-efficacy of Junior High School (SMP) students. This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method using PRISMA 2020 guidelines, reviewing 28 selected articles from 1,248 publications between 2019-2024 across five reputable databases. The synthesis results indicate that integrating CRT with learning models such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) consistently has a positive impact on critical and reflective thinking skills, as well as strengthening students' self-confidence through relevant cultural contexts. Although there are challenges related to teacher training and the lack of culture-based learning resources, it is concluded that the CRT approach is an effective, inclusive, and contextual pedagogical strategy to improve the quality of mathematics learning, which requires continuous training support for teachers.

Abstract

Equitable access to education remains a key priority of Indonesia’s national education policy. Various government initiatives, including the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP), the New Student Admissions (PPDB) zoning system, and educational development in 3T regions, have been implemented to reduce educational disparities. This study aims to analyze the development and research trends related to equitable access to education in Indonesia during 2007-2025 through a systematic literature review combined with bibliometric analysis. A total of 155 articles published between 2007 and 2025 were selected based on predefined inclusion criteria using the PRISMA approach and analyzed using VOSviewer. The results reveal a significant increase in publications, particularly during 2020–2021 and 2024-2025. The dominant research themes include policy implementation, educational infrastructure, zoning policies, and digital transformation. Network visualization indicates strong thematic relationships among educational equity, access, policy, and basic education. The findings show that educational policies have contributed positively to expanding access, with 78% of the analyzed studies reporting improvements in educational access. However, equitable quality remains a major challenge, as 89% of the studies identified disparities in school quality, teacher distribution, and educational facilities. Future research should focus on underserved regions, longitudinal approaches, advanced analytical methods, and the integration of access and quality dimensions to support sustainable educational equity in Indonesia.

Abstract

Arabic language textbooks play a central role in developing student’s linguistic competence, particularly for non-native learners at the secondary education level. This study aims to analyze the presentation of linguistic elements in the Grade XI Arabic language textbook published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in 2020. Using a qualitative content analysis approach, the research examined three thematic chapters: Shopping, Health, and Journey. The analysis focused on six linguistic components: phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and stylistics. Findings indicate that phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics are consistently presented through listening activities, grammatical explanations, dialogues, reading texts, and vocabulary development. Morphological and syntactic elements are explicitly integrated through qawa'id sections, while semantic aspects are reinforced through contextualized vocabulary and meaning interpretation. However, phonological coverage remains limited, as the textbook does not provide explanations of Arabic sound production, including articulation points and sound characteristics. Furthermore, pragmatic and stylistic elements are not explicitly incorporated, reducing opportunities for learners to develop sociocultural awareness and communicative appropriateness. These findings suggest that the textbook effectively supports foundational linguistic competence and language learning for non-native Arabic learners. Nevertheless, supplementary instructional materials and teacher intervention remain essential for achieving comprehensive language acquisition.

Abstract

This study investigates the dynamics of the use of Modern Standard Arabic (fusha) and colloquial Arabic (amiyah) on YouTube as a digital platform in the context of Arabic language development in the digital media era. The research is based on the phenomenon of diglossia, which characterizes Arab societies, where fusha is traditionally used in formal, educational, and religious contexts, while amiyah is used in everyday communication. The rapid expansion of digital media has reshaped these linguistic boundaries and created new spaces for interaction between the two varieties. This study aims to analyze how language choice on YouTube reflects communicative goals, audience orientation, and sociolinguistic ideology. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method using content analysis with a critical sociolinguistic approach. The data consist of Arabic language YouTube videos categorized into news, opinion, entertainment, and educational content. The findings indicate that fusha is predominantly used in news and educational videos to convey authority and formality, whereas amiyah is more frequently used in opinion and entertainment content to create intimacy and express local identity. The study concludes that Arabic diglossia in digital media is dynamic and context-dependent, with YouTube serving as a space for negotiating linguistic identity, power, and ideology.
