Abstract

The advancement of technology and the dynamics of the digital era have brought significant changes to all aspects of life, including education. Schools, as educational organizations, are required to adapt and improve the quality of their services in order to remain competitive in an increasingly demanding environment. One strategic approach widely implemented to ensure educational quality is Total Quality Management (TQM), which focuses on customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, and the involvement of all organizational elements. The implementation of TQM in the educational context is considered capable of bridging the gap between graduates’ competencies and the 21st-century skills demand, while also strengthening the school’s quality culture. Through a literature review of various journals, books, and research findings, this article analyzes the fundamental principles of TQM, the supporting factors for its success, and its contribution to building a quality culture in schools in the digital era. The findings indicate that TQM not only enhances school management effectiveness but also establishes a foundation for a proactive, collaborative, data-driven, and customer-focused organizational culture. Therefore, TQM serves as a relevant strategic approach to strengthen competitive advantage and foster a quality culture in schools amid the increasingly complex digital transformation.

Abstract

Malay Islamic education is a system that emerged from the integration of Islamic values and Malay culture, emphasizing balance between knowledge, practice, and moral conduct. This system functions not only as a means of transmitting religious knowledge but also as a medium for shaping a civilized, tolerant society that upholds human values. In Indonesia’s plural context, these principles align with religious moderation, which emphasizes fairness, balance, and the avoidance of extreme attitudes in understanding religious teachings. This moderation is strongly grounded in the Qur’an, particularly in QS. Al-Baqarah:143, which describes Muslims as ummatan wasathan (a moderate community). Al-Tabari interprets wasath as a just community; Ibn Kathir explains it as the best community that follows the middle path; while al-Qurtubi views it as a form of moderation encompassing tolerance and equilibrium. These values are reflected in Malay Islamic educational traditions such as politeness, mutual cooperation, consultation, and respect for teachers. In the digital era, Malay Islamic education faces social and technological challenges, yet it also holds opportunities to strengthen its identity through curriculum integration of moderation values, revitalization of traditional institutions, and teacher capacity development. Thus, Malay Islamic education plays a vital role in shaping moderate and ethical Muslim communities.

Abstract

Adolescence is a significant transitional developmental phase from childhood to adulthood, encompassing physical, psychological, intellectual, and social aspects. According to the Indonesian National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN), adolescence refers to individuals aged 10–24 years. Early and middle adolescence, which ranges from 10 to 16 years of age, is particularly relevant for discussion in relation to phenomena occurring in Islamic boarding schools at the junior and senior secondary levels, such as Pondok Pesantren Al-Furqon Prabumulih. This period is characterized by major changes as part of the process of self-recognition and self-understanding. This study focuses on how the character of adolescents or santri living within the pesantren environment is formed, both psychologically and educationally, as these factors serve as the primary influences on students’ development. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method, utilizing primary data sources and relevant literature, with observation techniques applied to the students of Pondok Pesantren Al-Furqon Prabumulih. The results indicate that the pesantren environment and educational practices significantly influence the formation of students’ personalities in emotional, social, moral, and intellectual dimensions. These influences play a crucial role in shaping the students’ future lives, both socially and intellectually.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the Adaptive Gamified Problem-Based Learning model in improving students’ critical thinking skills and mathematical reasoning in elementary mathematics learning. The research was conducted using a quasi-experimental design involving control and experimental groups, both receiving pretests and posttests. Validity and reliability testing indicated that all instrument items met statistical requirements. Descriptive results showed that the experimental group achieved higher posttest gains in both critical thinking and mathematical reasoning compared to the control group. Normality and homogeneity tests confirmed that the data were suitable for parametric analysis. Paired sample t-tests revealed significant improvements within each group, while independent sample t-tests indicated that the experimental group outperformed the control group with strong statistical significance. Pearson correlation analysis further demonstrated a strong positive relationship between critical thinking and mathematical reasoning, indicating that improvements in one skill are associated with enhancements in the other. Overall, the findings highlight that integrating adaptive gamification into the problem-based learning framework effectively enhances students’ higher-order thinking skills. The study concludes that this model is pedagogically beneficial for supporting deeper conceptual understanding, sustained engagement, and improved problem-solving performance in mathematics.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of supervision and work discipline on teacher motivation and their impact on the performance of public elementary school teachers in Pulau Rimau District. The study was motivated by indications of low motivation, discipline, and performance among some teachers, which affected learning quality. A quantitative approach with a causal associative design was employed. The population consisted of all public elementary school teachers in the district, and total sampling was applied. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using path analysis with SmartPLS. The findings reveal that supervision and work discipline do not have a significant direct effect on teacher motivation or performance, as indica ted by p-values greater than 0.05. However, motivation shows a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, with a path coefficient of 0.929 and a p-value below 0.05. These results indicate that motivation is the primary determinant of teacher performance, while supervision and discipline influence performance indirectly through motivation. Therefore, efforts to improve teacher performance should prioritize strategies that enhance intrinsic motivation through continuous support, rewards, and guidance.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of the surau as a traditional Minangkabau educational institution, tracing its historical roles and its contemporary functions. Historically, the surau served as a multifunctional center for religious instruction, cultural transmission, social interaction, and character formation for young men. It played a significant role in teaching the Qur’an, Hadith, Minangkabau customs, and martial arts, while also functioning as a communal space and temporary residence. However, modernization, the development of formal education, and broader socio-cultural changes have contributed to the decline of these traditional functions. Using a qualitative library research method, this study analyzes historical, ethnographic, and sociological sources to explore the internal and external factors driving this transformation. The findings indicate that institutional reforms, colonial influences, Islamic modernist movements, and evolving community needs have reshaped the surau into a more limited space focused primarily on worship and basic Qur’anic instruction. Nevertheless, the surau remains essential for cultural preservation and character education. This study emphasizes the need to revitalize the surau by integrating traditional values with modern educational demands to strengthen cultural identity and social resilience in the contemporary era.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically identify, map, and analyze research trends related to Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) framework. The study adopts a quantitative descriptive approach by reviewing peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2020 and 2025. Literature data were obtained from the Google Scholar database, and a rigorous screening process resulted in 20 selected articles that met the inclusion criteria. Bibliometric and network visualization analyses were employed to identify dominant themes and research gaps within the OCB literature. The findings reveal that while OCB has been widely studied, several important topics remain underexplored, particularly Organizational Justice, employee Performance, and Turnover Intention. Network visualization results indicate limited connectivity and research intensity in these areas compared to more established OCB themes. These findings highlight opportunities for future research to address existing gaps and deepen theoretical and empirical understanding of OCB. Overall, this study provides a comprehensive overview of current research trends and offers valuable insights for scholars seeking to develop more integrative and impactful studies in the field of education and organizational behavior.
