Abstract

Difficulties among students in solving algebraic word problems are still frequently found in junior high school mathematics learning. These difficulties are not only caused by weak conceptual understanding but also by students’ low confidence in their own abilities. Self-efficacy plays an important role in determining students’ persistence, strategies, and success in solving mathematical problems. This study aims to describe students’ self-efficacy profiles in solving algebraic word problems based on mathematical ability. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The research subjects were three students of class VII SMP IT Al-Fahmi Palu with high, medium, and low mathematical ability, determined based on their mathematics report card scores. Data were collected through written tests consisting of algebraic word problems and semi-structured interviews. Data analysis was conducted through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that students with high mathematical ability fulfill all self-efficacy indicators across the dimensions of level, strength, and generality. Students with medium mathematical ability fulfill some indicators but still show hesitation at several stages, while students with low mathematical ability are not yet able to optimally fulfill self-efficacy indicators. This study concludes that students’ self-efficacy profiles differ according to their level of mathematical ability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze principal leadership strategies in revitalizing a high-synergy quality culture in high-performing schools. The research employed a qualitative approach with a comparative case study design conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Peukan Bada, Aceh Besar, and SMP Negeri 2 Banda Aceh City. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving principals, teachers, administrative staff, and school documents. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive qualitative techniques supported by SWOT analysis, complemented by the Internal Factor Analysis Summary (IFAS) and External Factor Analysis Summary (EFAS) matrices. The findings indicate that visionary, participative, and transformational principal leadership plays a crucial role in fostering and sustaining a school quality culture. Internal strengths outweigh existing weaknesses, while external opportunities are greater than potential threats, positioning the schools in the Strength–Opportunity (SO) quadrant. This strategic position suggests that an aggressive and development-oriented strategy is the most appropriate approach. The study concludes that the success of revitalizing a sustainable quality culture is highly dependent on principal leadership that effectively integrates internal capacities and external opportunities in a synergistic manner.

Abstract

Prayer value education within fisherman families faces distinctive challenges due to economic pressure, irregular working schedules, and limited parental presence. These conditions significantly affect the consistency of children’s religious guidance, particularly in maintaining regular prayer practices during adolescence. This study aims to understand the implementation of prayer value education within fisherman families in Sukaraja Subdistrict, Bandar Lampung City, based on the lived experiences of parents and children. The research employed a qualitative approach using a phenomenological method. Data were collected through in depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving parents, children, and religious educators within the coastal community. The findings reveal that prayer education is primarily implemented through habituation, parental modeling, and direct supervision. However, these practices encounter structural limitations arising from economic demands, prolonged paternal absence due to fishing activities, and limited opportunities for reflective religious dialogue within the family. In response to these constraints, fisherman families develop a collaborative model of prayer supervision by involving Islamic learning centers (TPA) and schools as part of a broader religious education ecosystem. This study concludes that prayer value education in fisherman families is highly contextual and requires strengthened collaboration across educational environments to ensure the continuity and internalization of prayer values among children.
