Abstract

This study was aimed at examining the pattern of community participation in the planning of Islamic education funding, especially in the Taman Pendidikan Al Qur'an (TPQ). This research is important because many Islamic educational institutions had low standard quality and even stopped their activities because of weak education funding, including in the realm of financial planning. Community participation is considered appropriate for strengthening education financing planning as a form of equitable democracy, which means that the community has the right to get quality education and is obliged to provide funds. This research is qualitative descriptive field research with case studies as its approach. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation, while the analysis of this research follows the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and inference. The obtained data shows that the presence of active community participation with cultural religious functional patterns in the planning of Islamic education financing at TPQ in Banyumas Regency, Central Java indicates an increase in awareness and serious attention of the community towards religious education for their children. Therefore, it is time for Islamic education institutions to be able to utilize this momentum as part of efforts to improve the quality of Islamic education through strengthening education funding. Abstract

This research aimed at discovering the root of the problem of the relation between science and religion, identifying how conflict and collaboration between science and religion answer the challenges that human life pose and describing how religion in the future synergize with the advancement of science. This research emphasizes on the need to delve on the issues related to science and religion since the advancement of science often contradicts with some aspect of the Holy Book as well as the assumption that science rattles someone’s faith. Religion is also often regarded as something that hinders the development of science and people who participate in science development are often considered an infidel. There is a skeptical nuance that arose regarding the relationship between science and religion. Thus, it is of utmost importance to investigate on the ebb and flow of science and religion relation in affecting human life. Abstract

This article discusses how the role of the scholars of the descendants of Hadrami or known as Habib performs the activities of popular Islamic Preaching (henceforth: da’wah) in the urban community. This paper specifically analyzes the activities of da’wah of Majelis Salawat Ahbabul Mustafa led by Habib Syech, a Habib, a descendant of the Prophet who lived in Solo, Central Java. Recently, a similar da’wah was made by young Habib to gain popularity among the youth in several major cities in Indonesia. By using the media of tambourine instrumental music in reading the Shalawat, the da’wah of Habib Syech successfully attracts the interest of many participants who mostly came from groups of young people. In the middle of the hard blasphemies of the Salafi Preacher (Dai) against the majority of the religious practices of Indonesian Muslims, the Majelis Salawat led by Habib Shaykh conducted the ‘counter attack’ by means of-ways and elegant manners. This group also performs the da’wah through a cultural approach as Walisongo did by using Javanese idioms to get closer to the objects of da'wah which are mostly located in Java. Keywords: Habib, Majelis Salawat, Da’wah, Youth.
